MsPaula *** complaint is mostly incorrectMs*** insurance which is part of a state funded program that pays 100% of all her needs in regards to eyewear and
examinationI'd like to make it clear how state funded program worksPatients are allowed one pair of eyeglasses every two yearsThey choose from a selected group of frames that is given to us by the state of ILThe state has their own labs which make and deliver the eyewear to us, then we dispense that product to the patientThe state can take anywhere from weeks to months to deliver a patients eyeglasses to our office
When Ms*** eyewear arrived from the state the temple was broken, but we had replaced that same day only it was a different color frameMs*** told me personally she was fine with that colorSometime later Ms*** came back to see our doctor because she complained about her vision and could not adapt to the bifocalThe doctor told her prescription was fine, it was the fact she could not get use to the bifocalMs*** claims the doctor gave her a new prescription when in fact she just transposed it to a reading only RX, which is not different then someone having bifocalsMs*** requested another pair of eyeglasses made into reading only lensesWe explained to her that the state would not remake another pair in regards to her wanting to make the change The state will only remake lenses if the state made a mistake or a doctor RX changeWe told her we would try, but knowing the states policy we told her it would get rejected and in fact it didMs*** claims she attempted to call our office repeatedly, we only spoke with her when she was in our office and one other time via telephone
Unfortunately, her insurance will not remake the eyeglasses into what she wants because she originally choose bifocalsShe can purchase eyeglasses directly from our office for $and have her reading eyeglasses in week
My office and other medicaid providers should not have to defend ourselves when it comes to complaints in regards to state funded eyewearPatients with this insurance don't understand the amount of work that it takes to place an order and patients don't understand that it takes up to months for us to be reimbursed for the work we doPatients do not pay us anything for they order, its free for them because its funded by tax payer dollarsThe Revdex.com should do a better job and ask better questions in regards to the complaints they receive about businessesWe cannot control what the state does or doesn't doAll we can do is understand the current policy and wait

Final Business Response /* (4001, 17, 2015/10/14) */
The best thing Ms*** should do is contact her insurance company and make her requests thereState funded programs are extremely strict when remaking eyeglasses for reasons in regards to a patient requesting changesAs I said in my last response, the doctor made no changes to the patients prescriptionUnfortunately, I cannot post this patients records online due to HIPPA laws to prove that no changes were madeAgain, Ms*** should contact her insurance company and explain why she's requesting the change to her eyeglassesHer insurance company will contact usif they approve a 2nd pair or remake the original pairAt that point we will be happy to process the information again
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 19, 2015/10/22) */
