Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below I have attached the agreed upon quote for this work which we reviewed with Scott prior to him starting the jobPlease note the following in the quote: The agreed upon total cost was $of which $was paid Work included in the $cost that was not completed is listed below: *Garage and Front Porch (listed at $1560) This was not started at all, no side boards replaced, no scraping, no painting, etcnot started*Exterior residential carpentry work (listed at $2550) It's important to note that some of the carpentry work was done Three new columns (each) were replaced and some siding boards were replaced Sofits were replaced (with band-aid repair simply covering old wood with a new board (this is the disputed additional $that he wanted to charge despite it being listed in original bid) Facia board was not replaced along all sides despite quote including that and Scott was charging $extra which I reluctantly agreed to pay There were a number of things that weren't completed I'll list the incomplete items, below: -Demo old concrete steps, install new wood steps and handrails -repair gutters as needed -some wood siding repair not done (including top right corner of house- this is actually part of facia board)In addition to what I've listed above, the paint work from the original quote was also not completed The parts not completed include: front porch, doors, touch up paint, areas where they accidentally used satin finish over flat on the west side of house and told me they would fix, and foundation of entire house On top of everything I've listed above, a horrible mess was left There were tarps used on the job and clean up did not occur each day In fact, clean up never occurred Paint buckets I paid for were left out and open in the heat after the painters left and paintbrushes and rollers left in the buckets (I have pictures and video of all of this) Paint chips all over my yard, none of old wood removed, trash and cigarettes left in my yardI have pictures and video of all of this One final thing to note: Scott didn't follow any of the required clean up and proper disposal of lead paint due to their environmental impact These paint chips were left in our yard for weeks This is why the clean up we've done has been such a large effort Regards, [redacted] ***

I was hired to paint the exterior of house located at [redacted] for [redacted] and [redacted] ***In addition to the painting, I was hired to do wood repair, wood replacement, gutter repair, installing wood columns on the front porch, building new wood steps and handrails, The total quote was $11,After week we successfully scraped peeling paint, primed almost the entire house, caulked cracks and gaps in wood siding and trim, bondo patched wood trim, replaced several siding boards that were rottedAfter week we painted coats of paint to the entire house, installed the wood columns, installed handrails, replaced most of the soffits on the exteriorAfter week we were in the process of starting the demo of the old concrete steps and building new wooden steps, at this point we were about 90% done with the jobI received payments of $4,in the first two weeks, $3,immediately went to purchasing paint and supplies and wood siding boards, wood columns, and materials needed for building handrails, $4,went to payroll for my workersIn my original quote I clearly stated that I would replace wood that was rotten or damaged, this did not mean that I would replace ALL soffits on entire exterior of houseI approached [redacted] and [redacted] and advised them that the soffits were in such bad shape that it was not possible to simply repair them, when I tried to repair selected area's of the soffits they would literally crumble, they were saturated with rot and water damage from a previous storm ( a huge tree limb fell into the house damaging the roof, soffits, fascia and guttersThe exterior of the house obviously was not properly maintained, on the other sides of the house the soffits and siding boards were rotted [redacted] and [redacted] gave me verbal permission to replace all of the soffit on the house and they were informed that there would be an additional charge for this, and she very clearly stated that this was not a simple soffit repair as stated in the original quote and that she had no problem paying the extra cost I have witnesses that will testify that [redacted] and [redacted] did give me permission to replace the soffits for an additional chargeSo, we proceeded to replace all of the soffits, along with the siding boards, I visually inspected the gutters and downspouts and concluded that they were not leaking, we were done with the painting except for a small garage and we had only the wooden steps to completeI sent [redacted] and [redacted] a final invoice with the remaining balance due of $3,on the original quote and the additional charges for the soffit replacement $2,000, Replace facia board on tree damaged side of house $400, install new handrails $750, install new trim board on left side of house $80, and an extra charge for paint change $When I spoke with [redacted] the next day after I sent her the final invoice, she was very upset with the additional charges and immediately refused to pay for the additional workI tried to explain to her the additional work that was involved and the costs and she did not want to discuss any furtherShe tried to tell me that the additional work on the soffits was included in the original quote, even though her and [redacted] agreed to pay the extra cost several times in our conversations, and my employees are my witnesses to thisShe refused to pay the extra money and then she fired me off the jobAfter she had fired me, my workers were still on the job working, and she arranged to have them finish the job and she stated that she would pay them the remaining balance due (instead of me), My workers showed up the next day to work and she would not let them work and she called me and asked me to come gather my tools and clean up the yardI came by her house to gather my tools and ladders and I did not clean up the yard because I felt that I was being taken advantage of and we had completed 90% of the work and we were fired off the jobI honestly felt bad that I didn't clean the yard, paint chips, etcbut I felt like I was cheated out of $7,remaining balance owed to meIt is unfortunate that the project had to end this way, but I did my job and I was honest and upfront with [redacted] and [redacted] about the additional costs and it seems to me that they wanted the extra work done but didn't want to pay for it, and the only option they had was to fire me

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
So this this is the third time I've tried to submit this. The site isn't taking my video. To the Revdex.com: Is there someone there I can email the video to? I originally typed a pretty detailed intro paragraph here. However, it's 9:30, I've been working on this response for a couple of hours and I am tired. This has been by far the worst customer service I've ever experienced (my experience with Scott Wert's company). Not only does he claim he was "fired" on every point mentioning unfinished work, but he treated us and our home with such disrespect. The words, below don't do what happened justice. It's important someone sees the videos and photos. Let's talk a minute about Scott's claim to being fired. Ultimately, yes, I told him he could not come back and continue work. However, let's set this straight. On 08/at 2:pm Scott texts me "call me ASAP otherwise I am stopping all work". This was minutes after I text him to say "I'm in a meeting right now at work" amongst other texts questioning a new $charge he added to the bill. After that text, I eventually talked to him the same day. I was outside in front of his workers and my husband when I was on the phone with him. During that conversation he quit and said he was pulling his men from the job. After our conversation one of his employees (Don) told me that Scott has a temper but that he'd call him to cool things off. Don and the other workers also told me Scott was overcharging for things and that they'd finish the work without him. (I found this to be strange but also thought that was nice of them to offer- they acted like they felt sorry for me). They eventually told me that despite me paying scott $8000, they were paid nothing after over weeks of work. *It's important to note this story changed a few times afterwards (but it isn't my responsibility to make sure he pays his employees). After thinking about the whole thing, I text Scott to tell him I'll take him up on his offer of quitting. This led to a series of phone calls and texts from him and his employees. The entire thing got very ugly and I told Scott they needed to come and get their tools and clean the mess. So any claim he has saying I didn't allow him to finish because I fired him is a scapegoat for him. I'm not asking for money back for the terrible service, I'm not asking for money back for all of the time I've spent dealing with this. I'm only asking for money back for cleaning up the mess and for unfinished work that was already paid for (not even for unfinished agreed upon work). I hope there are no more back and forth communications as I have videos and pictures which corroborate what I've shared. My hopes is that Scott will do what's right by returning the money I've requested and will not treat future customers this poorly. The agreed upon total cost was $of which $was paid. Work included in the $cost that was not completed is listed below:*Garage and Front Porch (listed at $1560). This was not started at all, no side boards replaced, no scraping, no painting, etcnot started***(FRONT PORCH PAINTING IS COMPLETE< HANDRAILS ARE COMPLETE< WOOD COLUMNS ARE COMPLETE, GARAGE AND STEPS ARE NOT COMPLETE DUE TO BEING FIRED FROM JOB): Scott this just isn't true. Please review the details under the section you titled "Garage and front porch listed at $1560" on your quote. That didn't include the columns or rails around the porch. The columns were in the original bid and the handrails were an agreed upon add on that weren't finished have you seen the pictures? There was no epoxy used in the porch paint and absolutely NO work was started on the garage (my husband has since finished it - we have dated before and after pictures if you are interested). *Exterior residential carpentry work (listed at $2550). It's important to note that some of the carpentry work was done. Three new columns (each) were replaced and some siding boards were replaced. Sofits were replaced (with band-aid repair simply covering old wood with a new board (this is the disputed additional $that he wanted to charge despite it being listed in original bid)(ORIGINAL BID CLEARLY STATED THAT I WOULD REPAIR REPLACE DAMAGED ROTTED WOOD ON SOFFITS, NOT REPLACE ALL SOFFITS, I EVEN EXPLAINED THIS TO CUSTOMER, I ONLY CHARGED HER $2,TO REPLACE ALL OF THE SOFFITS ON THE HOUSE, THIS COST WAS DRASTICALLY REDUCED, THE ROOF TRUSSES WERE IN SUCH POOR CONDITION DUE TO OWNER NOT ADDRESSING TREE DAMAGE, THE ROOF TRUSSES WERE STARTING TO ROT, I SIMPLY COVERED THE OLD SOFFIT WITH NEW BOARDS AS THE CUSTOMER DID NOT WANT TO REPLACE ROOF TRUSSES AS SHE SAID SHE WAS PROBABLY SELLING THE HOUSE IN THE NEXT COUPLE YEARS)Facia board was not replaced along all sides despite quote including that and Scott was charging $extra which I reluctantly agreed to pay(THE FACIA BOARD WAS REPLACED ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF HOUSE WHERE THE TREE DAMAGE WAS, ORIGINAL BID CLEARLY STATED THAT I WOULD REPAIR REPLACE DAMAGED ROTTED WOOD ON FACIA BOARDS, NOT REPLACE ALL FACIA BOARD) There were a number of things that weren't completed. I'll list the incomplete items, below:Scott: Please review the bid again. I am disputing response in this paragraph. -Demo old concrete steps, install new wood steps and handrails (COULDN"T FINISH DUE TO BEING FIRED OFF THE JOB) Scott: You threatened to quit by pulling your men off the job if I didn't pay you additional $ for work that was in the quote already. Then I called you and you said you were done and pulling your men. The witnesses you claim to have who you say heard us agree on a price were standing there when I hung up the phone and said "he just quit"in fact they said they'd do the job without you. Then I text you letting you know I'd take you up on your offer to quit so it was clear what happened. only later once you calmed down did you ask for your job back. Why would I let you after you quit and treated me so badly? I asked you to just clean up the mess that I'd been asking weekly to clean up and that work continued to get deferred. -repair gutters as needed (GUTTERS WERE INSPECTED AND ISSUES WERE ADDRESSED, ORIGINAL QUOTE DID NOT INCLUDE REPLACING ALL GUTTERS, IT WAS TO REPAIR REPLACE DAMAGED SECTION OF GUTTER WHERE TREE DAMAGE OCCURRED) Scott: I agree the quote didn't say repair all gutters. We only discussed the parts that were damaged- like the piece by the back steps. You did work on gutters- we even talked about that. What are you claiming to have done here? -some wood siding repair not done (including top right corner of house- this is actually part of facia board) (REPAIR REPLACE SIDING BOARDS ARE COMPLETE, I REPLACED SEVERAL BOARDS WITH HOMEOWNER APPROVAL, WE REVIEWED THE BOARDS THAT CUSTOMER WANTED REPLACED AND WE COMPLETED ALL REQUESTS) Scott: The side boards on the house were completed, I agree. However, none of the boards on the garage were (although in fairness, I mention that above). The repair on the top right corner is still not completeThere are also soffits that are not completed. In addition to what I've listed above, the paint work from the original quote was also not completed. The parts not completed include: front porch, doors, touch up paint, areas where they accidentally used satin finish over flat on the west side of house and told me they would fix, and foundation of entire house. (fRONT PORCH PAINTING IS COMPLETE, DOORS ARE NOT COMPLETE, TOUCH UP NOT COMPLETE, CUSTOMER GAVE ME APPROVAL TO USE SATIN FINISH ON THE FRONT OF HOUSE, TOUCH UPS AND DOORS NOT COMPLETE DUE TO BEING FIRED OFF JOB) Scott: Front porch was not complete, the front porch ceiling wasn't done, the epoxy paint wasn't used, there wasn't a second coat of paint on the porch -and the foundation second coat was never doneI did give approval to use satin on the top triangle and I have no concerns with that. However, the touchups started on the west side of the house was the wrong paint and it looks terrible (satin patches over flat). On top of everything I've listed above, a horrible mess was left. There were tarps used on the job and clean up did not occur each day. In fact, clean up never occurred. Paint buckets I paid for were left out and open in the heat after the painters left and paintbrushes and rollers left in the buckets (I have pictures and video of all of this). Paint chips all over my yard, none of old wood removed, trash and cigarettes left in my yardI have pictures and video of all of this. (SEVERAL DROPS WERE USED ON THE PAINTING PROJECT, THERE WAS SOME MESS ON THE PROPERTY WHICH WE PLANNED TO CLEAN ON THE LAST DAY OF PROJECT AS HOMEOWNER DID NOT HAVE ISSUES WITH IT, COULD NOT THOROUGHLY CLEAN DUE TO BEING FIRED OFF JOB) Scott: You and I talked and text about cleaning throughout the job, you said things to me like: "I'm sorry they haven't cleaned up, I keep telling them too". I'm not familiar with the word "Drops" but if this is in any way a cover or tarp or blanket- literally none of those were used once. In fact the only tarp involved was one Don borrowed from us when they got paint on their clothes and didn't want to get it on their car seat so my husband gave them a tarp to borrow- which was never returned. As far as not being able to thoroughly cleanyou were here to "clean". Instead you got your tools and left. And remember, before you left you said (and I have in an audio recording which you knew I was taping because I couldn't believe the way you were treating me) "you liberals are all alike trying to save polar bears, but you kill your babies". Who says this to their customer? After you quit and changed your mind about quitting and I didn't allow you to keep on working, you can't just say I fired you. One final thing to note: Scott didn't follow any of the required clean up and proper disposal of lead paint due to their environmental impact. These paint chips were left in our yard for weeks. This is why the clean up we've done has been such a large effort(HOMEOWNER DID NOT INFORM ME IN THE BEGINNING OF THIS PROJECT THAT LEAD BASED PAINT MAY BE ON HER HOUSE, STATE LAW REQUIRES THAT SHE PROPERLY INFORM MEAS FAR AS PAYING SOMEONE TO CLEAN HER PROPERTY, I WOULD HAVE CLEANED THE PAINT CHIPS BUT I WAS FIRED OFF THE JOB, MY GUESS IS HOMEOWNER COULD NOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR EXTRA WORK DONE ON THE HOUSE, BUT REPEATEDLY GAVE ME VERBAL PERMISSION TO DO THE EXTRA WORK FOR AN EXTRA CHARGEI HAVE SEVERAL WITNESSES THAT CAN TESTIFY THAT I REPEATEDLY INFORMED THE OWNERS OF THE EXTRA COSTS AND THAT THEY AGREED TO PAY IT, AND THEN WHEN THE FINAL INVOICE WAS SENT TO CUSTOMER, I WAS SUDDENLY FIRED OFF THE JOB) Scott- I feel like I shouldn't even have to address this one. We talked about lead paint because we talked about the fact that you would scrap instead of use a sander because their could be lead paint (I specifically asked you about this because I learned it from certa pro- the first estimate I got). Further, you are the expert, not me. And according to the local EPA office, it's your responsibility to check. In addition, it's fairly common knowledge that a home over years old probably has had lead based paint. All of this doesn't matter, because we talked about it before you started any work. Now, I don't feel like I should have to address you accusing me of not being able to afford to pay you. I paid you more than I should have prior to you finishing the work because your painters said you hadn't paid them yet and they begged me to give you something. This is after the agreed upon $I paid for you to start. Remember you wanted more before the job was done and now I speculate that you planned on leaving unfinished work all along. Although admittedly, I have no proof of that other than you quitting. Why should I have allowed you to come back after you quit, your employees trashed my house, and you called me names repeatedly. Then when your temper would cool you'd beg for the work back. This isn't about what I can or can't afford, this is about you treating your customer and their home with respect and following through on your own contract.

I was hired to paint the exterior of house located at [redacted] for [redacted] and [redacted]. In addition to the painting, I was hired to do wood repair, wood replacement, gutter repair, installing 3 wood columns on the front porch, building new wood steps and handrails, The total...

quote was $11,587.20. After week 1 we successfully scraped peeling paint, primed almost the entire house, caulked cracks and gaps in wood siding and trim, bondo patched wood trim, replaced several siding boards that were rotted. After week 2 we painted 2 coats of paint to the entire house, installed the 3 wood columns, installed handrails, replaced most of the soffits on the exterior. After week 3 we were in the process of starting the demo of the old concrete steps and building new wooden steps, at this point we were about 90% done with the job. I received 2 payments of $4,000 in the first two weeks, $3,000 immediately went to purchasing paint and supplies and wood siding boards, wood columns, and materials needed for building handrails, $4,500 went to payroll for my workers. In my original quote I clearly stated that I would replace wood that was rotten or damaged, this did not mean that I would replace ALL soffits on entire exterior of house. I approached [redacted] and [redacted] and advised them that the soffits were in such bad shape that it was not possible to simply repair them, when I tried to repair selected area's of the soffits they would literally crumble, they were saturated with rot and water damage from a previous storm ( a huge tree limb fell into the house damaging the roof, soffits, fascia and gutters. The exterior of the house obviously was not properly maintained, on the other sides of the house the soffits and siding boards were rotted. [redacted] and [redacted] gave me verbal permission to replace all of the soffit on the house and they were informed that there would be an additional charge for this, and she very clearly stated that this was not a simple soffit repair as stated in the original quote and that she had no problem paying the extra cost.  I have 5 witnesses that will testify that [redacted] and [redacted] did give me permission to replace the soffits for an additional charge. So, we proceeded to replace all of the soffits, along with the siding boards, I visually inspected the gutters and downspouts and concluded that they were not leaking, we were done with the painting except for a small garage and we had only the wooden steps to complete. I sent [redacted] and [redacted] a final invoice with the remaining balance due of $3,587.20 on the original quote and the additional charges for the soffit replacement $2,000, Replace facia board on tree damaged side of house $400, install new handrails $750, install new trim board on left side of house $80, and an extra charge for paint change $240. When I spoke with [redacted] the next day after I sent her the final invoice, she was very upset with the additional charges and immediately refused to pay for the additional work. I tried to explain to her the additional work that was involved and the costs and she did not want to discuss any further. She tried to tell me that the additional work on the soffits was included in the original quote, even though her and [redacted] agreed to pay the extra cost several times in our conversations, and my employees are my witnesses to this. She refused to pay the extra money and then she fired me off the job. After she had fired me, my workers were still on the job working, and she arranged to have them finish the job and she stated that she would pay them the remaining balance due (instead of me), My workers showed up the next day to work and she would not let them work and she called me and asked me to come gather my tools and clean up the yard. I came by her house to gather my tools and ladders and I did not clean up the yard because I felt that I was being taken advantage of and we had completed 90% of the work and we were fired off the job. I honestly felt bad that I didn't clean the yard, paint chips, etc. but I felt like I was cheated out of $7,000 remaining balance owed to me. It is unfortunate that the project had to end this way, but I did my job and I was honest and upfront with [redacted] and [redacted] about the additional costs and it seems to me that they wanted the extra work done but didn't want to pay for it, and the only option they had was to fire me.
