EZ Towing & Recovery Reviews (%countItem)

My car was towed this evening 1/9/2020, and it clearly violated multiple laws. This included the towing company, EZ TOWING, taking the car before legally waiting one hour, which can be proven in their documentation stating they took the car at 6:49 when we had arrived to the *** parking lot less than an hour before that. They also refused to take a credit card when charging exorbitant fees, which was also unethical and illegal. I had to get $182 in cash just so that I could retrieve my car which had been parked for nearly 40 minutes. The only way they could have towed it that fast is by illegally employing spotters.

They use spotter through out Jersey City to take peoples car.
They overcharge and have horrible customer service. They insult their victims, and force to pay unfair prices.

on or about June 3, 2019 an employee for ez towing attempted to illegally tow this complainants vehicle after the complainant complied with the order of the security personnel to move the vehicle. the complainant had to drive the vehicle off the tow hook, thereby causing later back injury to the complainant. when the complainant approached the employee for his insurance and registration and ID the complainant smelled alcohol and marijuana on his breath. the complainant immediately called 911 and the employee left the scene of the accident.

Unfortunately having a car towed is a frustrating and unpleasant situation. Being belittled, insulted and disrespected is not part of the transaction when wanting to pay and pick up your car. My 75 year old mother and myself were told that we have no business driving if neither one of us knows how to park a car and my mother was told by a large/ far Hispanic male that my mother derseves to be a hospital for defending me when she could hear the gentleman (strong use of the word) tell me how he loves to tow and take people’s money; especially women who don’t know how to drive or park. It’s unfortunate that a business like this stays in operation with such low regard for human kindness and low quality standards. Then he called someone right before we left to further intimidate us by having three men block the exit to the impound to make us feel scared by staring us down as we drove away. I feel highly uncomfortable that this man has my personal information from copying whatever info he supposedly needed from my license.

In response to this complaint. I spoke with my employee who dealt with these ladies, she told him and this is in his words "She told me that I should be ashamed to work here and I'm dirty and that I better not end up in her emergency room, then she started cursing me out in the yard calling me all different types of names in English and Spanish". "She asked me if I like my job I told her yes I love my job! She also said we need the bulletproof glass because we are going to get beat up". In regards to the part about the two other people that where there to intimidate her, those were people coming to pick up their vehicle and asking questions about their car.

I would like to add that we have a tough job, I have been doing this for 30 years and there is not one time I have treated someone with disrespect when a person came to me with respect. If anyone of my employees did there would no questions asked, the would be fired! We have 32 cameras with audio, I would love it if the Revdex.com would refer this matter to the courts. Because if she does work in a hospital I would love to hear what a judge would say about her performance. The person who wrote this complaint either was not there at the time this all took place or if they were, they were so upset at us when she was talking crazy she didn't even notice all of the video equipment we have.

My vehicle was towed from *** Merchandise Pick Up, even though I have a receipt for pick up of glasses and an online order. EZ Towing is using predatory towing practices, several attempts to contact owner by myself and other agencies trying to intervene have been met with resistance and refusal to put us in contact with the responsible party in order to provide the proof and refund the charges. Also in contact with someone at NJ.com.

My car was towed on Oct. 29, 2018 at approximately 11;05, my husband *** went to pick up the car; which he is the driver of that vehicle . My husband was told he cannot pick up the car due to the fact it wasn't registered to him. He then was told he can pick up the car if he was paying cash. First he is told he cannot pick up the car, but is told if he was paying cash he can. The vehicle was on their lot for 30 mins and they charges us a full day of storage. This company is not running business properly. I feel we were scammed. My husband is new to the city, he moved here from PA. He did not realize he couldn't leave the car in the lot. He only left the property for 5 mins came back and car was gone.

My car was illegally towed away from *** parking lot at Newport. We parked the car at around 1 p.m. on 1st September and went for shopping at *** Our car was towed away by 1.30 pm that is even before regular 1 hr limit. We were charged 200$ to get our car released and were treated inhumane. We were declined our right to inspect the car for any damages before it was released. We were literally abused by the person at the office.

If anyone is a thug, it is the owner of this vehicle. He is simply lying, I have pictures of him and his family parking his vehicle and then walking away from *** They parked the car in the afternoon at approximately 1:00 pm and did not return till after 10:00 pm and did not come to get their car until the next day. Believe me if we are watching for good looking cars, our choice would not be his. He called us and said he will be taking us to court and I said pleas do, because we have pictures of him leaving and a video. Since our conversation I have not yet received anything from court.

Complaint***

I am rejecting this response because:
I simply refuse to accept this response. How come these people directly have the picture of me? This means they sure do keep people or spotters to keep an eye. The property manager should have called ez towing instead. I demand to see these photos. The business asked us to come get our next day because they were closed for the day.

The VYV building is a private property apartment building, there are signs not to park without a permit. The building manager calls us to tow the vehicles illegally parked.

We believe that is not the parking ticket for the BMW we also have been called for the same car on July 25 but the time we arrived the BMW had left they do this often we were told on Aug 07 they did not come back in time.

EZ Towing and Recovery towed my car on the morning of Aug 20, 2018 around 2 AM. When I recovered it later in the morning, there was significant damage to the front passenger side of the car. I have significant amount of witness to vouch for a new and well kept car. The damages are consistent with negligence. The manager on site agreed that it was their fault, but proceeded with no action.

EZ Towing & Recovery Response • Sep 04, 2018

This vehicle was towed on a flatbed, the marks on the wheel are consistent withcurb damage. When he came to pick up his vehicle he asked us about a smallscratch on the drivers door, not the passenger side, so it is obvious he is playing games or just fishing to see what he can get. Also the manager on site neversaid it was our fault.

I parked legally at the *** parking area specifically designated for online pick up orders at the ***. I had an online order and went to pay for it so I can pick up the product I ordered online. In the 2 minutes it took me to pay, my car got towed by these crooks. I parked legally in an area specifically for doing what I was supposed to be doing. EZ Towing is a scam and they do predatory towing. They towed many cars today on Saturday, April 28 without checking to validate that the drivers were actually parked legally. My car was towed for no reason, and a witness said they broke into my car. My vehicle was in neutral (it's a manual transmission) so they had no reason to break in to my car. I was forced to pay $182 to get my car back for parking somewhere I was legally entitled to. I have reciptand email confirmations verifying my online pick up order at *** at Newport Mall in Jersey City. This towing company is a scam and clearly does predatory towing which is illegal.

EZ Towing & Recovery Response • May 07, 2018

The car was parked at the Merchandise Pick Up, there is a 3ft X 3ft sign (attached) that tellsuneducated people not to park there. It is to pick up items that are already paid for! If they bought something online it would have been paid for already, so then you can park there topick up your merchandise. It clearly does not say parking for internet browsers and then goto store to pay. It is another story about someone tried to park illegal because they did notwant to pay for parking. Also as far as 2 minutes, anyone whoever went to any mall on aSaturday afternoon knows that by the time you park and go to a register, wait on line (thereis always a line) and pick up your merchandise is longer than 2 minutes!!I do not appreciate the slander!!!! If it happens again I will proceed with legal action.

My vehicle was towed by an illegal & predatory towing company on 1/23/2018.

I parked my car in a plaza that allowed customers to park while shopping at *** ). During the time I was shopping, I was never informed or inquired by anyone about my parked vehicle. When I left the stores, I found out that my car was towed. I left my car at around 6:40 PM and based on the towing receipt, my car was towed at 6:57 PM right after I started my shopping in the plaza.

When I went to the pick-up place from the company, there were no explanation about why this happened. I was even told that I cannot get any information before I paid the full amount. Further more, I was forced to pay and sign an agreement states that I agreed to pay for the services. Obviously, I had no choice but to sign the agreement because I was threatened if I asked for more clarifications or didn't sign the agreement, I wouldn't be able to get my car on the same day, and had to come back in another day to pick it up and pay for extra storage fees.

Per a press release from Division of Consumer Affair, they violated the Predatory Towing Prevention Act in the past. Based on my additional research, they haven't ceased the action since then, and I am one of the newest victims. Therefore, I would like to request a full refund from the company for their illegal and unfair action.

In response to this complaint. I spoke with the people who parked their car illegally. They parked and did not go into *** When I asked them to send me a picture of themselves (so I could see what they look like) and I will go down and check the video cameras to see if they were in the stores, they said they would email me a picture. They never did and since then they will not answer any of my calls andI left they two voicemails.

Also, before we tow any vehicle from there, we receive a call from the store and the driver will go inside both stores and have them call it out over the loud speaker and if no one comes out they get towed.

Customer Response • Feb 08, 2018

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: No one from the E-Z Towing ever contacted me before towing my car on 1/23/2018. They never asked me to send a picture to them and never called me nor left me the voicemails. Please ask E-Z Towing to provide the evidence of calls record/emails from their side to prove that they've talked to me before towed my car away. I can provide the calls history from my phone if needed.

Again, as what I said in the previous statement, I couldn't get any information before I paid the full amount of charges and I was forced to sign an agreement states that I agreed to pay for the services. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to get my car on the same day, and had to go back in another day to pick up the car and pay for extra storage fees.

I would still like to request a full refund from the company for their illegal and unfair action.

EZ Towing & Recovery Response • Jan 04, 2018

First off we never received this complaint before. To start off no one gets nasty with the customers until they start yelling and cursing at us. The guy that came for that car was carrying a *** bag and he was asked about the bag. He said he ran there for a minute, when we called *** and asked if the tow was a mistake they told us that the people were not in the store.

On October 22, 2017, I parked my car on the side of *** and proceeded to walk toward the breast cancer camper. When I came back from my walk I started to go to my car to go home, I realized my car was not there. I was told the my car was towed and did not know why. I went inside *** to find out if they knew anything about my car why was it towed. They told me they did not own the parking lot and don't why I was towed. The manger was nice enough to give me the phone # to the towing company. I called and they stated the care was in a tow away zone. I told them there were no signs indicating "no parking will be towed". I told him I am handicap and had my card up on the rear view mirror, why was my car towed. The man that answered the phone stated there was a sign up... I told him there were n'o signs up I didn't see he responded " I saw you park there and after you left I towed your car. I was so upset because now I felt as if I was a plot to bet towed. I told him I was doing the cancer walk he told me "that was my problem". So this complaint is about getting my money back $182.06 that is owed back to me. I FELT I WAS SET UP WHEN THEY TOWED MY CAR. I went to the towing company the same day after an exhausting walk for breast caner. I told the guy I wanted to speak to the owner, he stated the owner was not there. So I paid for the car $182.06 to take my car from this crooked place before they do any damage to it... That is how I felt, upset, taken advantage of because I'm handicap and they were watching me to tow my car after I was doing a great walk for such a great cause. This towing company is looking out to make a buck. I told the guy why didn't he come up to me being that he was watching me to tell me he will tow my car if I don't move it... This is a common courtesy .... I went back to the parking lot and did not see a sign when I entered the place only at the end there was a small sign that you couldn't see. This place needs to return my money and shut down

EZ Towing & Recovery Response • Jan 02, 2018

Response:We do the towing for *** by contract, we DO NOT watch anybody leave before a car is towed. We get called from *** andwhen we get there we get the license plate number and go into the store and ask at the courtesy counter to call over the PA systemthroughout the store the make of car, license plate # and color. If no one comes forward for that car it gets towed. Maybe there wasa miscommunication between her and who she spoke to.Thank you,GaryEZ Towing

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response

Because I was set up by EZ towing company. There were no signs indicating not to park on the left side of the parking lot. There are no signs entering the parking lot. If there were I would never have parked there. The gentlemen that I spoke to from EZ towing told me they saw me parking and saw me walked away and towed my car. That is not true that they are stating they went to *** to give them my license plate number to have then read over the intercome. Mr. G own employee stated he saw me get out of my car waited for me to walk away to tow my car. That is not fair, right nor immoral and definitely not good business. I also spoke to the Manger from *** Ms. Angela M she stated that the towing company is responsible for the parking lot, no one from the towing company comes in the store and gives us the plate # to read over the intercome. Once again there are no signs up in front of the entrance from *** stating not to park will be towed.

I am not the only one that has had issues with this company as you can see many, many complaints about them and no one does anything about it!

I am expecting my full refund for wrongfully being towed.

Regards

Parked at *** parking lot, went next door to pick up food (15mins) than went to *** to go shopping . When I came out of *** my car was towed. I was parked at *** parking lot for a total of 40 minutes including my time spent in ***. EZ towing charged me $264 for having my car for 15 minutes. I saw a Tow truck pick up another car while I was at *** and mistreating the car, even almost crashing the car into a fence. This place is disgusting and a total scam. The reviews listed under EZ towing on google proves that this type of scam and mistreating cars happens frequently. I do not understand how a towing company can take my car and charge $264 when I was a shopper at ***. EZ towing even has workers scoping the parking lot waiting to see who they can tow next.

This company towed our car on August 30, 2017. When we went to get the car, the bill was $264. My husband handed them our credit card and they proceeded to "try" the card 4 times each time coming back as "declined". They proceeded to say they would only take cash. After calling our credit card company ***) and speaking with representative Marissa, we discovered not only was there no reason the card would have declined but the business never presented our card for payment. This was clearly a scam by this company to get a cash payment. I am not saying that we hadn't parked "illegally" (there was a small sign on a private lot explaining the car would be towed - we did not see the sign but I will not complain about being towed - we were at fault). But their inability to take the credit card payment forced my husband to walk almost a mile (in downtown Jersey City) to a *** location to withdraw cash and then incur an additional cost for transportation back to the tow lot to ensure his security rather than walk thru Jersey City with $300 in cash.

EZ Towing company recently illegally towed away our car and later harassed us. The incident occurred on 6th August, Sunday when my wife and I visited *** in Jersey City. We parked our car carefully in an area that didn't seem like a ‘No Parking’ zone as we didn't find any ‘No Parking’ sign, and also there were other vehicles parked in the same area (back side of *** Retail store). When we came out of the mall, we found our car was missing and came to know that it was towed by EZ Towing. At this time, one car was still there in the same parking area and was not towed. On reaching towing office, we found EZ office personnel was heavily drunk and was extremely rude. On asking towing reason, he ruthlessly said give me $264 in cash in order to release the car. For my Vehicle's safety, I agreed on paying him the cash but asked for the receipt, to which he got infuriated and aggressive and abused me and my wife. He banged his vehicle’s side door on us and rushed it in such a high speed without being bothered that it could have run over our feet. In fact, we pulled ourselves back and just managed to save our feet coming under his tires. Reported this to police , we were told they receive 1000s of complaint everyday against this guy and agency, so they suggested to contact Revdex.com. Police then called up the agent who dealt with us and asked him to release our vehicle and accept credit card payment in lieu of cash and also provide us a duly signed/stamped copy of the receipt. Contacted Mall authorities and were told *** employee vehicles are parked in that area but again no signs in the area signaling employee vehicles are allowed to be parked, seems to be an agreement between *** and Towing company to not tow away staff vehicles, mall security agrees it is not right but states cannot take an action in this matter.

EZ Towing & Recovery Response

The car was parked behind the department store ***, yes there was a sign, 3ft by 3ft. He parked in a loading dock for trucks. We have a contract with the *** to tow illegally parked cars and yessecurity called us to have his car towed. When *** called EZ Towing he was told the office was closed but we would have someone meet him there to release his car. We told him to call us when he gotthere so someone could meet him there. He was also told over the phone how much it would cost to release the vehicle. When the E Z Towing driver arrived at the shop, in between jobs only to release ***’scar, all *** did was ask for a discount. My driver kept telling him no and if he gets a call for a tow he has to leave. After about 30 thirty times of him asking for a discount a call came in for a tow and all of a sudden*** wanted to pay. My driver told him he had to wait until he came back from the tow. He got upset because he had to wait again and could not get a discount and that is where all the lies came from. There isno truth in anything he said..Thank you,Gary

Customer Response

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

Thanks for following up on the case and reaching out to the agency on my behalf. Below are a few things I have to state in this regard –

1. We did not find any no-parking signage around the wall where our vehicle was parked (pictures of the area attached in mail sent to DCA on the same subject)
2. No boards/signage indicates that it is truck loading/unloading dock
3. Also, if it is truck loading/unloading dock, how are *** staff vehicles allowed to park in the same area, why does it not clearly state that area reserved for staff parking ? Are we saying the contract mentions that staff vehicles should not be towed ? If yes, how do people like us get informed that it is a parking zone for staff vehicles only
4. Discount matter addressed in mail sent to DCA , please refer the same – again 30 times referenced in EZ Towing response is a mere exaggeration.
5. Yes, after all the harassment and with Police help, car was released on Sunday after charging towing charges and charge for keeping the car in their premises on Sunday even though car was released on Sunday night. If my understanding is correct, additional per day charges($60) apply if car is left overnight and would have been legitimate if car was released on Monday , so actually only one time discussion on discount was to factor this value being charged. We paid towing charges =$200 and $60 daily charge + taxes.
6. We asked to pay by card and were told only cash will be accepted and the matter got worse when we said we will pay by cash if a receipt is issued (details already provided in first letter), police specifically asked EZ towing personnel to accept credit card and that was the trigger to allow us to make non-cash payment.
7. I got a call from EZ towing owner who again misbehaved with me on phone , details of conversation are mentioned in the email sent to DCA.

Hope all this information is useful in making your investigations and assessment.

Regards
