F & F Custom Construction Reviews (4)

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that while my complaint can be considered closed, I...

still disagree with Marty F.'s response to the complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
While the money was refunded to my boyfriend's credit card, it was not refunded months prior.  The refund did not happen until June 30th, after the business came and retrieved the improperly measured and cut piece of granite.  This all took place after my complaint was filed with the Revdex.com on June 25th.  Marty also followed up my complaint with several text messages and voicemails on July 1st, to my boyfriend expressing his discontent over my filing of this complaint. I have since gone to another granite company, have purchased a comparable piece, and it has been installed for several weeks now.  I will never be using the services of F & F Construction again. Please feel free to consider this case closed noting my final statements.
Regards,

Review: We are having two issues with F&F Custom Construction:

1) We paid for a microwave granite slab in January 2014 and have yet to receive the product. We went to the place of business at the end of May to pick up the slab and was told by the owner that the slab was packed away somewhere in the warehouse and he didn’t know where it was. He told us he would deliver it within the next couple of weeks. Multiple phone calls and emails later, we still do not have the slab we paid for. I even requested a refund from him and he has yet to reply.

2) The granite that was installed on our back cabinets have large gaps in a couple areas that our tile backsplash doesn’t cover and the seam has shifted and come apart. We notified the owner in the Spring and asked if we could get a granite backsplash installed to cover the large gaps and also have the seam fixed. He told my husband that the granite backsplash probably won’t match perfectly because it’s a different lot (we are OK with that) and he would get back to us and let us know when he could send somebody out to fix the issues. We never heard back. I called a few weeks later and was told that the job he had near our house fell through, so he wasn’t able to send anybody out. I asked for an estimated timeframe he could send somebody out and he said he wasn’t sure. I asked if it would be within a month and he said yes. During that conversation he said our home was probably settling and that’s why the seam shifted. We never heard from him so my husband emailed him again. He didn’t reply. I contacted him a few weeks later and he became very defensive and angry after I said "my husband contacted you a few weeks ago and we haven’t heard back from you." The conversation became very uncomfortable and he was blaming us for the issues. He told us that we were the ones who removed the previous counters and left the cabinets in rough shape. I informed him that the counter was held on by a handful of screws and wasn’t glued down. It took my husband five minutes to remove the counters and we had no damage, which the installers could see. We were never told our cabinets were in bad shape when the granite was installed, because that isn’t the case. If that were the case, why was the granite even installed? When I mentioned darkening my cabinets to the installers, the gentleman actually told us that we should paint or stain our cabinets instead of buying new ones because the quality of new cabinets isn’t as good as they used to be. My mother was with me and heard the conversation. During our last conversation the owner told me that he will send somebody out and then bill us for it. I told him that is unacceptable and I want him to stand behind his product and fix his mistakes. One comment that he made, that I wrote down for my husband to see while speaking to him, "I don’t understand what the big deal is. It’s not hurting anything." I couldnt believe it. The gentlemen who installed the counters told me they were not happy with how the granite fit or with the seam. They had to keep shifting the counters around to avoid even larger gaps. They also said that the shop is too far away so they were unable to make any tweaks to the counter and bring it back. They clearly knew the counters werent up to par. I was hoping that once we installed the backsplash tiles they would cover the gaps, like we were told, but thats not the case.Desired Settlement: I am requesting two refunds. One is for the slab that we paid for 11 months ago and never received and also a $500 refund for our back counters. We would like to bring in a professional and have them install a backsplash and fix the seam. After my last very uncomfortable conversation with the owner, I am no longer comfortable having him or anybody affiliated with him come into our home. This has been a very stressful 11 months for us and we would like to put this bad experience behind us as soon as possible.

Review: I hired F & F to install soapstone countertops at my residence in Feb 2012. As soon as the coutertops were installed ( in early April) I asked them to also install soapstone backsplash. About 6 weeks laterthey came to install the first of 4 pieces for the backsplash. Over a period of a week or more they installed the rest of the 3 pieces. I wasnot able to be here when the last piece was installed and when I came home,I found they had not sanded the joints or seams leaving chips anddifferences in thickness. They also left all my switches and outletshanging from the wires and shims were left in place under my window.I left several messages on [redacted] ( owner) cell phone alongwith his secretary, [redacted]. None of my calls were returned. Last week on Oct 3rd I stopped by his office and asked him to complete the sandingthat was left. I had already paid an electrician to complete theinstallation of the outlets and switches as it was a safety hazzard.[redacted] claims he called me and since I didn't return his call he thoughtI was happy with the job. If he did call, he never left a message or I would have contacted him and told him I was not happy.[redacted] said he would have someone come Oct 8 or 9th to do the sandingand his secretary would call me in the afternoon of Oct 3rd. I neverheard anything so I called again on Oct 8th and was told by his secretarythat she would try to get someone to come on Oct 9th and she would callme back in 5 min. Again I never heard back and they will now not answer my calls nor return any message. The work that is left to be done is some sanding and sealing, probably 1/2 hour -1 hours work. This project cost almost $6,000 so I can't understand why he would not just finish the job. I did have trouble with him not showing when he said he would. Although the countertop he did looks very nice I just want my backsplash finished and have this job behind me.Desired Settlement: I would like to have my job completed by having the backsplash sanded and sealed so it will match my countertop.
