Face The Day Salon:
I saw the Aveda sign outside the Face The Day Salon and Spa; and made an appointment with stylist Emily for Thursday, July 9, I have been getting my hair done at Aveda salons for years because they all use Aveda products and are known for being an upper scale salon where you can relax and get top notch service and results
I explained the natural look I wanted with some high and low lights around my face, some throughout my hair, and my new growth needed to be coloredI brought with me my Aveda formula that my usual salon uses all the time and I always get perfect resultsI also showed a picture of myself of how my hair should look when finished
During my appointment I remarked she was putting a lot in a lot of hair in the foilsI politely asked her if she was able to see well because the lighting in the salon is awfully dim for a hair salonShe agreed the lighting is dim, and said she can see
It was very difficult to see how my hair actually turned out to to the insufficient lighting
I paid my bill and went out for lunch where I met a woman and we started talkingI asked how she liked my hairAnd she advised me to go back to the salon and have them fix itAfter checking my look in the mirror, I was upset and embarrassed because my hair was orangey blonde on top, and it looked un-natural, and unprofessionally done I went home and looked at it in my brightly lit bathroom
I called the Face The Day Salon and politely exclaimed my feelings to Whitney, the managerShe apologized, and made an appointment to have Lizzie fix it the next dayI wanted to look my best for a class on that following Monday morning so I agreed for Lizzie to do the work as long as the Master Stylist was also present and would oversee Lizzie's workWhitney assured me that would not be a problem
The next day, I arrived on time, Lizzie looked at my hair, and the salon lighting is so poorly lit that even she had difficulty seeing wellLizzie added lots more foils to my hair, and a toner to remove the orange color telling me she would accomplish the natural look I wanted A lot of products were needed to comb my hair because my hair was now obviously very dried out and frizzy from over processingLizzie sold me a bottle of Aveda Brilliant Damage Control spray for $and said it would helpShe kept saying my hair looked good; I did not like the un-natural lookFeeling bewildered, frustrated, let down and overall dissatisfied, I tried to be positive, polite and not cause a sceneThe damage was doneI had to move forward from here
When I got home I saw my hair was not the natural look I was promised although it was less orangey looking
I called Whitney and she offered to have me come back again After thinking about it, I felt reluctant to return for a second repair job because my first two visits were unsatisfactory
I questioned why the Master stylist did not come over to me while I was in Lizzie's chairWhitney informed me, she (Whitney) did not tell the Master stylist anything and was not in-house during my appointment with LizzieWhitney also stated she instructed Lizzie to consult the Master stylist but, she simply did not
I explained to Whitney I felt apprehensive to come back to this salon due to the deception, disfunction, and bad hair results I ended up withThis is the first time I ever experienced any problem at an Aveda salonI was cordial throughout this ordeal despite what I had endured
The contributing factors to this dilemma are the inexperience and overconfidence of the lower stylists, the absence and guidance of a Master stylist for proper instruction, and the poor lighting in the salon
For weeks spa manager, Whitney, said she mailed me a check and I had not consulted The Aveda Company for their intervention the outcome would not have been resolved within a monthBy far, this salon charges the highest prices of any Aveda salon I have been to and it allows their lower trained stylists to work without any Master (highly trained stylist) to present in-house
I am writing to let buyers be aware
