Facial & Oral Surgery Assocciates Reviews (%countItem)

My dental experience with Dr. *** went well and I have no complaints with his treatment practices, however, Dr. ***'s business practices are lacking at best. After my initial treatment he referred me to a physician at ***()in *** without insurance authorization. At the time of my visit when he was informed that I was there through the ***() he said he was going to send me to a doctor at *** for further evaluation. I had three visits at *** and informed *** each time I was NOT there through my private insurance but through the *** and Dr. ***. I later discovered Dr. *** did not have authorization from the *** to send me to *** and so I spoke to his office numerous times in person and by telephone only to be given lip service and being told he would take care of it. This has gone on for almost 8 months. Dr. *** did NOT take care of this billing error he created. Needless to say Dr. *** did not take care of this matter and now these bills have gone to collection agencies. As dentist he may be good, as a businessman he has much to learn and I will never deal with him or this business again. Dr. *** did not have the authorization to refer me to another physician and he then had his office repeatedly tell me over the past 8 months he would take care of his mistake and now these bills have gone to collection. Today his office(***) told me I was responsible for his unbridled enthusiasm and I have three bills.

Mr. came to our office Oct 25,2019. Dr *** recommended Mr. see an ENT for a sinus evaluation. Dr. *** was not aware of the insurance type Mr. had at the time of service as the Dr often doesn't know what his patients have for insurance. The office did call and make the patient an appointment ENT. In February 2020 patient came to the office upset with bills from ***. He wanted Dr *** to pay the bills. I(***)advised patient that I would contact the *** and see about getting an authorization backdated but I couldn't make any promises. The bills he brought to the office are attached and his medical insurance paid, he has co pays and co ins amounts remaining. On 2/3/20 I contacted the *** left a message with our contact person *** regarding the situation. On February 5,2020 *** returned my call and advised I needed to speak with *** at extension *** as she handles the Medical side of authorizations. I spoke with *** regarding the situation and she stated the patient is well aware before going to any appointments he is to obtain an authorization from the . She said she would see what she could do but she felt the patient was well aware of the policies and didn't think it was the *** or Facial & Oral Surgery responsibility to pay the Copays for the visits he had at the ENT. After this conversation I filed the paperwork Mr. left with our office and was leaving it in the hands of the *** as *** said she would try to reach the patient and re-explain the polies of the .I honestly had forgotten about the issue until patient called the office upset 3/17/2020, I pulled the filed papers and explained I had contacted the *** and that they stated he knew about needing an authorization before going to any appointments. He was upset and stated that this was Dr ***'s issue not his. I advised the patient I would try to reach out to the *** again and see if they were willing to make any exceptions about back dating the authorization. My notes show I called at 10:20am but was not able to speak to anyone due to heavy call volumes. I did not get a chance to reach out again as Facial & Oral Surgery closed that Afternoon for 2.5 months due to COVID19. Patient called 1st week of June upset about his credit and the unpaid bills. I(***) advised patient his medical paid and that the amounts he submitted were his copay and co ins. Also explained the *** stated he knew the authorization policy and that we did recommend he see the ENT but he was responsible to get the authorization.

In regard to ***'s response to my complaint she is incorrect in her
first sentence. First, *** was "NOT" in the room during the exam
performed by Dr. *** and for her to make a statement saying
Dr. *** was not aware of my insurance is out right false. Dr. ***
was informed in front of me by a dental assistant during the exam that I was a *** patient and
I explained to Dr. *** I was in the process of trying to get dental
implants for a couple of gaps where I had had previous extractions, Dr.
*** then made the appointments for ***. As previously
stated for almost 8 months I was repeatedly reassured by this office both in person and by telephone
they would take care of it and they did try to get the *** to back date
because they knew Dr. *** made the mistake realizing he never had
authorization. These bills I received for copay's through my private
insurance are incorrect. I spoke to my private insurance and was told
these visits were NOT authorized by them. Again Dr. *** took it upon himself to make these appointments for me without authorization and when he realized his mistake his office admitting their error attempted to get the authorization back dated to no avail and then decided we will ignore(*** said forgot in her response) the patient(myself) in hopes this would go away. Thank You For your time and consideration.***
