WORST PLUMBER EVER!!
On 08 DEC 2023, Mr. Tully Tavares of Fair Dollar Plumbing (fairdollarplumbing.com) replaced the filters in our Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment unit. We paid him $300 for this service, which is two times more than we have paid other plumbers for this work in the past. Several hours after he left, one of the filter housings began to leak water. We placed a small container under it and told Mr. Tavares about the leak. On 13 DEC 2023, Mr. Tavares returned to our home to fix the small leak. He made the leak much worse and then called the RO unit equipment supplier (APEC Water) for advice. APEC Water told Mr. Tavares to switch the filter housings to see if that would fix the leak. Instead of heeding that advice, Mr. Tavares removed the entire RO system without getting our permission to do so. At that point, we told him to leave our home.
"Fair Dollar Plumbing" is an INACTIVE corporation, according to the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC). Even worse, although Mr. Tavares claimed to be a "Master Plumber" on his business card, according to the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) contractor database he has NOT been a licensed plumber in the Commonwealth of Virginia since 30 SEP 2013, OVER TEN YEARS AGO! Unlicensed contracting is a criminal offense in Virginia, punishable by a fine of up to $500 per day (Code of Virginia, Section 54.1-1115). Furthermore, any contracts entered into by an unlicensed contractor are null and void and unenforceable under Virginia law.
Mr. Tavares destroyed our RO unit and charged us $300 for nothing. We had to order a new RO unit for $250 and we spent $100 for replacement filters that we can no longer use. A legitimate licensed plumber will charge us another $300 to install a new RO unit. So Mr. Taveras's incompetent and illegal plumbing work will cost us almost $1000.
I am 70 years old (senior citizen) and a veteran (US Naval officer). I have never experienced so many problems with a contractor.

Fair Dollar Truth
This work was performed years ago for a customer by the name of Carol Rynearson. She said over the phone that she worked 2 jobs to pay her bills and had her children let me in. The kitchen faucet was a cheaper No Named Kitchen Faucet.
I repaired it both correctly and completely.

She supposedly had a problem with the work performed and instead of calling Fair Dollar Plumbing... The Better Business Bureau called us and told of her complaints.
I replied that I would job by and take care of the problem, however The BBB rep. said she would not let me in her house.

I said to Mrs. BBB, that I would pay another licensed firm to investigate and it there is a problem, they would replace such with a comparable unit. The home owner refused that and stated she wanted wanted her $200...

You can witness this at THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU if it hasn't been removed in the many years past...

I am not sure it was Carol R. That wrote this, which was originally in her name or this software company ¿? Who can guess...

One more fact I want to point out.
Why would I set it up as a Professional that I'd break the pipes when """ POLYBUTYLENE (as she pointed out) HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST COSTING CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN AMERICAN'S HISYORY! """ SHELL OIL AND DUPONT PLASTICS...

Tully... If you need Plumbing Repairs, Call Fair $ Dollar Plumbing at 703*803*0303. If you want
Free Dollar Plumbing like Carol did... Wake Up From The Dream That She Has Portrayed !@@!

I don't Mean To Be Disrespectful To Anyone, However People See The TradeMarked Name FAIR $ DOLLAR, And Think I Will Pay Them, Not True. I Have A Mortgage, Children, Utility Bills, ETC... The Fact Is, We Do Not Act Like The Majority of Plumbers Here In Northern And Rip You Off, However We Can't Afford To Give Our Services For Free Either...

Let Me Also Say That I Tell Our Customer The Facts... Such As I Never Said Anything About Making Up Anything In Order To Rip Anyone Off... Especially One Of The Worlds Largest Trillionaire Oil Companies That Makes Polybutelene...

NOTE THIS FACT "Polybutelene Piping IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE * CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT * IN AMERICAN HISTORY!"

The 'Other Guy,' Our Competer Is Mostly Made Up Of Unprofessional, Untrained Employees Straight Off The Street That Are Taught To Sell You What They Can Make You Believe What They Say You Need.

Review: I called Fair Dollar Plumbing to fix a faucet that was dripping. Tully, the owner, asked me to call another number and leave a message repeating what I had said to him and that he would call me back. After several days of no call, I called and left another message saying never mind and called another plumber. Tully called to say that someone had died and that he would be by that day, but I wasn't home. He tried again another day I wasn't home. By then, the second plumber hadn't shown up so I decided to give Tully another try. He did finally show up, worked on the faucet for less than 1 hour, and charged me $200 for labor plus parts. When I complained, he said he was licensed and that I could get someone else who didn't know what they were doing for less. I wasn't actually home and let my adult daughter let him in. He pretty much ignored her and was telling her boyfriend what the problem was, which was annoying. He also told them that my pipes were made our of polybutelene and that they were crap, but if we played our cards right, we could break the pipes and get insurance to cover the cost to fix them because the class action suit against the manufacturer had expired. I was livid when I found out he was telling my kids to commit insurance fraud. Then, less than a week later, the faucet was leaking again. I won't let him back in my house. He seems a bit wacko. The day I paid him I offered him a debit card, but he said he would swing by to pick up a check and I'd get a 5% discount. But when he arrived he wanted cash to get a 5% discount.Desired Settlement: I want my money back.

Response:

MR. Dennis,

As we spoke briefly regarding the claimed circumstances. I appreciate your sending this information via email. I do not recall the customers name off of the top of my head, although I am offended with her accusation that I in any way even suggested that she commit any illegal actions. With the economy as it is, any words exchanged can be seen to have been interpreted incorrectly.

The company name has remained untarnished and will stay as such. I more than likely mentioned the class action lawsuit, due to the grade of original material, yet Fair $ Dollar Plumbing has nothing to do with

re - piping such product. Why would anyone, especially myself, make such accusations even though there will be no financial gain...

As was stated to you, if and when the customer listed above does supply me, through you, a photo copy of the original, I will respectfully refund her $200 without dispute. I am not aware of the type of faucet indicated to have began leaking again and such is of no matter.

Sincerely,

Tully T[redacted]

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Review: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: the owner says he wants me to send him an original. An original of what? He provided no paperwork for parts or labor. As far as his comments made regarding the class action suit, he made them in front of my 22 year old daughter, 17 year old son, and a family friend. I unfortunately was not there. The type of faucet is Aquus but he did not replace it. He did something to make it stop leaking, until I next used the faucet and then it started leaking again.Regards,[redacted]

Response:

Please see the emails below. Fair Dollar has yet to reimburse me the $200 it said it would. Please do not close this complaint until I have received payment

Business

Response:

** rcv'd call from biz owner, Tully, who stated he did not like the way [redacted] handled the case. ** reviewed the case, the biz did agree on 1 occasion to reimburse for someone else to repair if consumer provided a receipt (one was never provided). However, on another occasion the biz did promise to reimburse $200 which the consumer states they have never received. ** would have closed as unresolved as the biz did not honor their offer of resolution.
