Fair Oaks Quality Dental Reviews (1)

Review: I went to Dr [redacted] to fix a bad tooth. She said I needed a root canal done immediately, which I agreed to. That was Thurs Aug 21st. Within 2 days of being home I was very ill and still in great discomfort.I notified the office that on the 23rd of my great discomfort and pain. I did not hear back from [redacted] the receptionist until the 28th. At that point I told her how very ill I had been all week. Plus, I was still having pain and discomfort. At NO time did Dr [redacted] speak to me to ask about my symptoms or to find out the extent of the pain I as having. [redacted] sent an email stating to come into the office and Dr [redacted] will look at the tooth. AGAIN, I told her that I was very ill, I was so ill that I had been in bed since the root canal and there was no way I was driving anywhere in my condition. I told her of the severe headaches, severe loss of appetite, nausea, fatigue and more. Still, no phone call from the doctor. [redacted] merely writes another email telling me to come in the next day but they are closing early because the doctor is going on vacation. That next Mon Sept 1st I am now covered in a rash and severely ill. I emailed [redacted] around 11pm. [redacted] replied immediately stating would would contact DR [redacted] right away. (Which [redacted] later admitted that she WAS immediately called). I never heard back from anyone. All day Tues, no call from the doctor. Late Tues around 4pm I sent a very angry email to express my disgust at Dr [redacted]s unprofessional behaviour. I advised the doctor in that email, that I would be seeing a physician and another dentist to prove she botched my root canal. Well, that got her on the phone. However, when she finally called, she never once asked about my illness. She never once apologized. She never once made any attempt to get me proper medical treatment. All she did was make excuses, blame her receptionist and lie. I caught her in several lies then within minutes she would admit she just lied. At that point, I was done with her and prepping to see a doctor.I told them not to contact me again until my crown arrived so I could pick it up. They have yet to hand over my crown.I have since seen a specialist which showed me the proof that Dr [redacted] did indeed botch this root canal. She missed an entire canal which is the source of the bacterial infection that has made me ill for the last 3 weeks. I paid Dr [redacted] $1000 which I demand to be refunded asap. Dr [redacted] also has my crown which is MY property that I demand is given to me asap. My new dentist will need it after I have [redacted]s BOTCHED root canal redone. This doctor's incompetence has cost me approx $3000 and I still have 2 more procedures to go through to complete the fixing of [redacted]'s screw up.The other 2 procedures will be in the range of another $2000.Desired Settlement: Refund of my $1000 PLUS the return of my crown which is my property

Response:

I am in receipt of your notification letter regarding Ms. [redacted]’s complaint.

However, I would like to inform you that my insurance company is in the process of investigating her complaints and will be contacting her directly. She clearly demanded me via e-mail to not contact her, and told [redacted], my front office employee, that she would only like to be contacted by her regarding her crown. Again, my insurance company is handling this complaint and will be in touch with the patient directly.

As we communicate regarding your case, I would appreciate if we could have the same cordiality and respect for one another with our language and how we speak to one another. As [redacted] explained to you over the phone, your completed services included a comprehensive evaluation, complete set of radiographic images, endodontic molar therapy on tooth #3, and a core buildup for tooth #3. The comprehensive evaluation fee that was applied to your account is $55. 00. The complete set of radiographic images fee that was applied to your account was $95.00. The root canal fee that was applied to your account is $825.00. The core buildup fee that was applied fa jour account was $210.00. The total amounted to $1,185.00. I applied an adjustment of $181.00 to honor the special that you brought to our office. You rendered $1,000.00 to pay for your treatment. The balance leaves $4.00, which I adjusted off. I am willing to reimburse you $1,000.00 (the amount you rendered for the services completed by me).

In regards to your request that I release the crown to you, unfortunately, I am unable to do this as we never charged you for the crown. Also, I spoke with Dr. [redacted] regarding your case. In order for me to consider payment for any of these services, I will need you to please send me a copy of the official estimate that he gave you for your treatment completed at his office. Once I review this information, I will let you know if I will agree to pay for these additional services. Please be advised that I will require that you sign a release form in exchange for the $1,000 refund and any additional amounts that I agree to reimburse you. This is the final settlement that I am willing to offer to you regarding this case. If we do not receive a response by Thursday October 16, 2014 at 11:59pm, this settlement will no longer be effective.

Furthermore, since you have elected to terminate your care at my practice on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 via e-mail when you notified me that you wish to transfer your care to another dentist, I am obligated to inform you that you should place yourself under the care of your new dentist without delay. If you do not continue your care immediately with another dentist (after your root canal is completed on tooth #3) to place a permanent crown on tooth #3, some of the potential risks may include, but are not limited to: failure of root canal, infection, pain, sensitivity, swelling of the gum, and fracture of the tooth. I will be willing to consult with your new dentist regarding your case history, diagnosis and treatment.
