Review: I signed a group of friends and colleagues up for a social co-ed league that was offered on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Prior to signing our team, I took a survey of my team members and there was a majority of people that could play on Saturdays. We would not have the ability to field a team on Wednesdays. On the form, I indicated that our day was more important over our seeding. Last fall, there was a similar issue when we signed up for Saturdays. All team managers were notified of the schedule change and asked if it were possible to continue. I assumed that by making my same marks on the form, the same rules would apply. When the schedule was released on 3/22, I checked on Saturday, 3/23, and saw we were on Wednesdays. I spoke to my assistant manager on Monday, and we decided, that since there was no correspondence about the league change, we would be able to withdraw, as a team did last fall in a similar situation. I sent an email to the Fairfax Adult Softball office, and was informed that removing my team would be impossible, and that there are no refunds. We engaged in email messages, and are at a point now, where the league office is offering to field a team for me out of players that have already paid. This defeats the purpose of my friends and colleagues playing together. They feel the team is a team, and players don't mean anything. I also feel, they value the money of the customer experience.Desired Settlement: I would like to request my league application fee to be refunded and for their application process to be more proactive and clear about scheduling. They have created a process that doesn't allow for movement of teams between days, or even withdrawing, should the schedule not fit the team. I would like for them to understand that a team is a group of connected people, and not a group of individuals.

A team must choose a minimum of two days in order to submit an application. The application will not be processed without at least two days of playing preference chosen by the applicant. Applicants are warned to “please read thoroughly before completing your application” the League Information and Registration Fee Breakdowns from the Manager Home Page and AGAIN from the 2nd screen of the application process, which state:FRANCHISE FEES are non-refundable. Your preferred day/night of play is not guaranteed! Do not submit an application if you are not prepared to play on any day of the week or weekend or at whichever field FAS deems appropriate. Again, just prior to hitting “Submit Order”, applicants are warned again:By clicking "Submit Order" below, I understand and agree that FAS accepts applications and payments with the understanding of the applicant that placement in the FAS program is in whatever division and day of the week FAS deems appropriate. PAYMENTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE IN WHOLE. FAS is the largest ASA sanctioned private entity in the nation with over 40 years of softball adminstration experience and a team retention rate that surpasses any other organization. Applicants like Mr. Taylor are provided all the information they need to make an informed decision in submitting their team application. I am sorry that he failed to comprehend the notices, and FAS tried tirelessly to work with him to provide extra players so that he could field a team.
