Fairmont Pittsburgh

Review: Fairmont Hotel has an undisclosed policy regarding a non refundable reservation for cancellations. I made reservations for April 25 and 26. I am contesting their charges for the following reasons: When the reservation was made in February 2014, the non refundable cancellation policy was not disclosed. The email from the Fairmont confirming the reservation had no reference to or disclosure of its non refundable cancellation policy. Even if you click on the links Modify or Cancel in the email you are taken to a page referencing upgrades but there is no mention of the cancellation policy. Had I known of this policy, I would never have made the reservation;When the reservation was cancelled on March 28, 2014, a full five weeks before the intended stay on April 25, 2014, no written confirmation was sent describing the cancellation policy;If the purpose of such a policy is to safeguard the merchant from economic loss, no such loss could have occurred 1) because the cancellation gave the merchant five weeks lead time to obtain a replacement reservation and 2) college graduations for the University of Pittsburgh, Point State Park College and other educational institutions occurred during the weekend of our reservation, i.e., the weekend of April 25th through April 26th when all hotels in the Pittsburgh area, especially in downtown would have been booked; andThe materials provided to my credit card company by Fairmont were not provided to me in either email or hard copy at the time of the cancellation.Such an undisclosed cancellation policy is either a poor business practice or a scam to unfairly profit from a consumers trust that a company will act in good faith. Regardless, the result is the same, the unwary consumer is victimized because they reasonably expect to be treated fairly.Desired Settlement: I want the $864 and change that Fairmont is pursuing for the cancellation of the reservation rescinded and my credit card company so informed.
