Enclosed you will find a refund for the remanding balance of your returned purchase of 1 "nuc" of honey bees, for the amount of $11.55. We tried to contact you by phone the first part of the week to resolve the issue but were unable to reach you. We are sorry for any confusion this past Saturday. As you could see we had a store full of customers picking up bees everyone had questions and or needed supplies and we were trying to get people serviced as quickly as possible. In the last 23 years this maybe the first time we have had a refund on a "nuc" so again I'm sorry for any confusion on the sales tax. We were very busy and did not take the time to explain things to your understanding.
We try very hard to sell the best Indiana produced bees that we can. Our production is very weather focused not just the pickup date but weeks before. If it turns cool and or rainy the bees may quit building wax or the queen may stop laying eggs. If the weather conditions stay cool the workers may even start cannibalizing existing eggs and larva. This sets the delivery dates back. We don't ship our "nucs" until we can make sure the bees are ok and working properly. That's why we can't, (even though we try very hard) set an exact date for pickup. Believe me this is just as upsetting and stressful for us as our customers. We also try very hard to pass out the bees in the same order as we received them. With all of the social media that is used today I can see how easily it would be to think that it was time for you to pick up your bees. That's why we try to make sure everyone knows to call and talk to someone before they come to pick up bees. I know everyone is excited to get their bees and we all get anxious to have them home. So when you show up thinking your bees are ready for pick up and they are not it is disheartening at best. Be assured all of our customers are important to us we have been in business at this same location for 23 years with customers still coming back from day one. It's my hope we can put this behind us and move forward. If you would like we can still furnish you with bees this year just let us know, but even if you decide to purchase them somewhere else we hope and pray your beekeeping experience will be will be a pleasant and successful one.[redacted]
