Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 17, 2016/03/31) */ We were hired by the [redacted] to replace their roof in the summer of We started the roof the 2nd week of July and completed the job on July 13, On July 10th, during tear off day, we were asked by the Schoffs to remove and replace the siding on the 2nd story of the home as wellWe settled on a price and proceeded to remove the siding and flashing along with the shinglesAccording to the local weather station, there was only a 5% chance of precipitation that day, so we removed the entire roofAs we were finishing covering the roof with synthetic felt, which is waterproof, a bad pstorm blew in and tornado sirens went off in townI ordered my crew off of the roof for their safety and per OSHA regulationsWe headed for safety downtown and upon return, we learned that the downspout from the 2nd story had been smashed against the house and water entered the home through where the addition met the houseI promptly called my insurance agent that same day and the adjuster returned the call the very next dayMy insurance paid the [redacted] a total of [redacted] for materials AND labor to make the needed repairs on their living roomThe [redacted] had all monetary means to hire a contractor of their choice to fix their addition, yet they chose to do as much of the work as possible to save money, which I honestly don't blame themTherefore, the timeframe that the remodel/repair took is not due to any negligence of me or my company The [redacted] also have many ways to contact me as my business phone number, personal cell phone, email, and address are posted on all pages of the internet, phonebooks, website, yard signs, and even the estimate and invoice that was personally handed to the [redacted] I have not received any direct contact from them other then a message on my facebook page in which I responded and naturally did not receive a responseI have personally met with another 3rd party roofer and inspected the [redacted] 's roof with a mutual conclusion that there is no damage or improper installation methods used on the roof installationAlso, there is no evidence of any leaking or water under shingles, as described by Mrs [redacted] , that would deem the need for any repairs/replacementAslo, in conclusion, we don't feel that there is any refund due to the [redacted] as the accident involving their son, has no bearing on any of the work performed Initial Consumer Rebuttal / [redacted] (3000, 19, 2016/04/01) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I will begin by discrediting [redacted] 's response more than months after this complaint was filed as follows: the roofers were NOT pulled from the job due to weather nor were there any tornado sirens; this can be proven by local records with our Sherriff's departmentThe storm came while they were at lunch and having left our home exposed it resulted in significant damages as opposed to his claimsThis can all be verified by several witnesses including his own employeesHis claim for safety and OSHA standards is a sad attempt to justify his actions with liesFurthermore the damage caused by his negligence was in fact repaired by a licensed contractor contrary to his claim of us doing the work ourselvesWe do not have the knowledge nor the time to even attempt such an endeavorI have invoices to support the completion by a licensed contractorIn addition, the work done by that contractor exceeded the insurance settlementHe is fully aware of this as our contractor contacted him to be compensated for his portion of the insurance deductibleThis too can be verified with said contractor as well as the insurance agentThe fact remains that the new roof was not installed properly and currently has many issuesThis has nothing to do with the damage done by the storm or the fact that my son was recovering from an accident that nearly took his lifeThese things were mentioned to merely express how stressful that time was and how I felt he and his company took advantage of us through that timeFor Mr [redacted] to indicate otherwise is both disconcerting and unprofessionalContrary to ***'s claim that sole contact was made on social media, we have in fact made several attempts to reach him via phonePhone records can also verify thatWe have since spoken with our local building commissioner and he has heard our claim and seen the issues and has agreed with the validity of said claimIf Holderman Construction did in fact invite a 3rd party roofer to our home for an inspection, this was never arranged with us, the homeowners and is therefore considered trespassingIn addition, we have asked a truly qualified, licensed contractor to provide an estimate for repairs which will take place in the coming weeksThis contractor indicated the need to rectify very soon to avoid a complete tear off and replacementAs a result of this recent advice we have deemed it necessary to contact an attorney for litigationWe will be moving forward with a suit in small claims court once the estimate for repairs has been completedI will attach one photograph which shows that the shingles are pulling away from the roof in the valleysThis is just one of the many issues: vents installed improperly, shingles pulling away, gutters reattached incorrectly, etcI do not accept the company's very tardy, disgraceful and dishonest response Due to the incontrovertible evidence in this case we will move forward with the litigation at this timeOur complaint with the Revdex.com will stand
