This letter is sent in follow up to ID# *** and the telephone conversation you and I had regarding the same yesterday afternoon, July 8, 2015.Fox Chase has a process that is hard wired in all staff who receives calls from patients seeking care here and that process includes that once
a caller tells us they are uninsured they are transferred immediately to a financial counselor to explore their optionsA caller being told they could not receive treatment at Fox Chase because of ability to pay is not something we do.Nonetheless I investigated this matter as best I couldAs a result I learned that both our call center and our transfer center have no record of receiving a call from anyone by the complainant name referenced In Case ***.This is a sensitive matter in that it does involve personal protected health information that is protected under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of (HIPAA, Tille ll)That said I tried to obtain more information Such as the number that was called, the date and time of the call, or the name of the person the complainant spoke withI tried to contact the complainant by the telephone number provided in your letter but the voicemail belongs to a male who identifies by a first and last name that is different than that of the complainantThe only other contact information is an email address under the same name as the Voicemail.I would be happy to look into this further if more information becomes available that would allow me to do a m?re focused reviewPlease call me directly should you obtain any additional information form the complainant or if I can answer any questions you may have.Yours truly,Mary EF*, RN, BSN, JD Director, Patient Advocacy FOX Chase Cancer Center
