Review: on august *,2013 me and my husband went to family auto care inc to get our AC fix we was toll that our compressor needed to be fix and wires had to be re wired. they put a switch in my 1996 rangerover,for the ac to come on. on august **,2013 at 10pm we was coming from Brooklyn me my husband and my daughter,and the air condition kept coming on when it was clearly off. we started smelling burnt rubber,when my husband seen the smoke,the car was on fire.we was stuck in the middle of the street on [redacted] in Brooklyn. car was a blaze we call the fire department.we was toll that the compressor caught fire due to faulty wiring.on my receipt from the repair place it said ac bypass.I called them to inform them about the issue and expain to them that due to the sloopy quick work they did fixing my ac cause the compressor to catch fire .they wanna argue with me and curse me out. me and my husband need our car we have a 13 year old and a [redacted] child. we had to have the junk yard come and get it because,we didn't have the money to tow it.so I lose out of 5,000. im lose for words rite now. please help us.Desired Settlement: they wanted to argue with me and my husband and was cursing us out im hurt. because we was supported a small business and look what happen our family lose or truck.

This case is with reference to ID [redacted] received September [redacted],2013. The customer, [redacted] received service from Family Auto Care Inc. via AC servicing and switch installation for AC with a fuse holder.

Problems found by Family Auto Care Inc:

On August [redacted],the customer, [redacted] brought in their 1996 Range Rover to have the AC serviced. They told Family Auto Care lnc.'s service writer that they had pre-wiring service done to the vehicle beforehand. Upon diagnostic by Family Auto Care Inc., it was observed that the vehicle did indeed had prewiring conducted, there was no power going to the compressor when the AC was turned on, the AC was low on Freon (AC gas) and the power switch on the climate control was not functioning. The customer was alerted about these problems on the 1996 Range Rover and was given an estimate cost to have the problems fixed.

What was done to fix the Problems:

The AC system was vacuumed and recharged and an external switch was installed to activate the climate control switch so that the compressor could be powered on. The switch was installed with a fuse in lined with the circuit. Therefore the fuse would have been burnt out first if there were any short circuit in the switch circuit that was installed. In this case, the fuse was a safety precaution to prevent such events (fire) from occurring.

Conclusion:

In this case, the customer should have towed the 1996 Range Rover back to Family Auto Care Inc. or go to any other business that would have investigated the cause of the fire. Instead the vehicle was junked and therefore eliminating all proof of what had caused the fire. It is highly impossible that the new installed wiring caused the fire since there was a safety feature (fuse) to avoid such problems.
