At Family Chiropractic and Wellness we are always trying to better serve our patients and the community so we have taken this complaint very seriously. We are very sorry for any confusion and we have used this as an opportunity to evaluate our billing system. According to our payment policy...

each patient with a balance initially receives three monthly statements; with the 3rd statement including a notice of warning that their balance will be sent to collections; the 3rd statement is then followed by a phone call to the patient. A fourth and final statement is sent notifying the patient their full account balance will be sent to collections if not paid in full and once again followed by a phone call.In Ms. [redacted] case we sent a statement on October 14th, November 20th, and December 28th• After the statement sent on December 28th, our accounts receivable manager called Ms. [redacted] and was unable to reach her. Our accounts receivable manager had not received a call back from Ms. [redacted] and for that reason she sent two more statements on March 31 and April 5th• The statement on the 5th stated that due to the amount of time that had passed the full amount was due to avoid collections. This statement was also followed up with a phone call. On April 25th our office received a check for $50 and because the account balance was more than that amount her account was sent to Allied Collections.
Lauren, our accounts receivable manager, spoke with Ms. [redacted] on May 5th At this point she explained to Ma. [redacted] that she unfortunately could not help with her account because it had been sent to collections. Once an account Is turned over to Allied Collections the patient then carries a zero balance in our facility and any further transactions must take place with Allied Collections. When Ms. [redacted] stated she had not received any of our office's statements, Lauren confirmed the address and phone number we currently have on file, and to which all of the above statements and phone calls had been made. Ms. [redacted] confirmed all contact information we had on file to be correct.
We do apologize for any confusion and will continue to strive for better service for our patients.
