I immediately left work to pick up my daughter after he school called, as for the past 6.5 years her ears have been an issue. My daughter was feeling and looking pretty awful when I arrived. She was in serious pain. My daughter has had 5 ENT surgeries and 1 in office procedure. The entire time we have had the same ENT, now my daughter is 7 years old. My first thought was to call and see if Dr. [redacted]'s (her ENT)office could see her due to there knowledge of her history. While trying to see if they could give an emergency appointment she was crying out loud in the background. During this same conversation with me driving and seeking emergency help, I was told well you have a bill herr for $90 plus, I am not sure what the total was as my 1st concern was to assist my child.I inform them that I had not gotten a bill, but I would call in regards to it later, because my priority was to get help for my child. Then she said well hold on let me check and of course returned to the telephone saying that they could not see her and that they were just really busy. After getting emergency help she has was diagnosed with an acute ear infection in the right ear and an ear infection in the left. The next morning I called Dr. [redacted]'s office to pay the required balance of $90, and asked if they could provide me with a copy of the bill and to explain what it was for. [redacted], said do you not know what you paid for. I said no, but for someone to mention it while my daughter is in pain when I was seeking emergency help; then the bill must be a payment of emergency. I expressed how rude and dis-concerning that was. She said well I don't have time to call anyone in regards to a bill. My response was that if the bill was that important to mention when I am seeking emergency help then it should have been important enough to call your loyal customer if there was a balance of $90. $90 vs ?????????? in total surgery cost and routine visit cost.Desired SettlementDr. [redacted] has taken care of my child's ear for almost 7 years. I was completely stressed and hurt by the telephone conversation requesting a payment while seeking emergency help. My goal in taking the time to share this matter is to reiterate that there is a time and a place for everything. Discussing a bill when a parent calls seeking emergency help is not the appropriate time to discuss a bill of $90.Business Response Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)In the letter written, it is noted that the staff worked my daughter in to be seen and cared for when I called seeking an emergency appointment. The office was not able to see her, we had to seek emergency care. She was then diagnosed with a double ear infection with an acute infection in the right ear. I do accept all other responses in the letter.
