Family Group Ins has been preparing [redacted]'s personal taxes for the past 6-7 years. In August of 2014 [redacted] brought in a letter which he had received from the Internal Revenue Service asking him to...

return the amount of $1,731.00 for tax year 2012 . Immediately we contacted the IRS on his behalf to inquire as to why. Our records indicate for tax year 2012 that [redacted] did receive a refund in the amount of $1,374.00. The IRS informed us that they had Increased the Adjusted Gross Income to Include Social Security Income not shown and therefore the refund he received needed to be returned. For that tax year he would of actually owed monies. After much discussion [redacted] chose not to send in the full amount requested by the IRS but rather ask us to set him up on a pay plan. We completed all the necessary forms on his behalf and he signed off on an installment plan on September [redacted] 2014. There were several letters, phone calls and com munication back and forth done by us to resolve the matter (at no costs).. Unfortunately, the Social Security Income did not show due to a glitch in the program for Rail Road SS but never the less was Income which he received that would of change his refund. AT the same time Tax year 2013 was reviewed and Amended on his behalf (at no cost) [redacted] received a refund in the amount of $1,412.00 for tax year 2013 from which $1,207.00 needed to be returned to the IRS once again [redacted] chose not to return the full amount and asked to be set up on a pay plan. IRS Guidelines state Penalties and Interest will continue until paid in full. The penalties and interest were surprisingly minimal in February 0f 2015 over 6 months later it calculated $85.12 for (2012) and $34.81 for (2013). If [redacted] had decided to pay it in full when it was requested it would of been very little next to nothing. In April of 2015 [redacted] came to our office for us to prepare his 2014 return we were pleased to see him and offered a discount on our fees. He returned a few days later once the 2014 taxes were completed to pick up and bluntly refused to pay for the services rendered for the preparation of his 2014 taxes our office was shock we could of easily return to him all his 1099 forms and social security forms and ask him to leave.... But we did not, instead we handed him over a copy of the taxes for 2014 proceeded to e- file the return it with the IRS, receiving zero payment we only ask that he finds another tax preparer in the future. We prid e ourselves in our honesty, service, professionalism and doing the right thing by our clients.. we have been preparing personal taxes since 1987 and this is the very first time a complaint has ever been made. I consider this matter more than settled. It is very disheartening that [redacted] felt the need to do this however we sincerely wish him all the best in the future and hope that he finds a Tax Preparer with the service, honesty and Integrity we have shown him..

As stated in original response regardless of Glitch or not this is real Income which [redacted] did receive for both years which would of change the outcome of his refund. All matters were addressed handled and resolved immediately upon notice. [redacted] received a refund from the IRS in the amount of $1,374.00 for 2012. He chose not to return the full amount received. In 2013 [redacted] also received a refund from the IRS in the amount of $1,412.00 again decided not to return the full amount received. Rather [redacted] decided to keep both refunds in full re-paying it back in installments with agreement made with IRS and therefore he is fully responsible for all interest incurred. We are not returning any fees for our services rendered. [redacted] came back to our office again in April 2015 to complete his 2014 return from which he received a refund from the IRS in the amount of $726.00. He refused to pay us our services rendered. Family Group I s still owed $130.00 for the preparation of 2014 tax return.

The fact is I should not be responsible for payment of late penalties and interest fees to the IRS, that was cause by errors created by Family Group Insurance Brokerage for Tax Preparations for the years of 2012 and 2013. According to IRS Document dated * Sept 2014 for the year of 2012, substantially the same error procedures was use in preparing 2013 Tax Returns. the amount of tax refunds that I received in 2012 and 2013 I kept, because, I increase my withholding tax $100.00 per month for year 2011 and I though the refunds was the normal amounts. Review: Family Group Insurance is a Income Tax Preparation Business that has been preparing my income taxes for last several years. Last July 2014, IRS inform me that the Tax Years of 2012 an 2013 was filed incorrect by my Tax preparer. (My tax status has not change within the last 9 years) Now I am paying the taxes that I owe to the IRS that was cause by errors of the Tax Preparer. I have no problem paying the IRS the Tax that I owe, But, I think that the interest and penalties assessed to my taxes should be paid by my Tax Preparer. I am now waiting from the IRS the total amount penalties interest that I have Paid.Desired Settlement: Pay the interest and Penalties on Taxes of 20012 and 2013
