Bills sent after agreement cancelled. Refusal to cancel unless notarized

document or payment.
I used FamilyCord, now owned by CBR I think, 13 years ago to store stem cells. I cancelled the service. The new owners say they have no record and will continue to bill me. Victor Palomino, a client advocacy specialist, XXX XXX-XXXX, said I have to get a notarized document to cancel the agreement. But he says, it will be
cancelled without this document if I pay a settlement of $260. I already cancelled the agreement after paying for numerous years. Also even if they lost my cancellation because of new ownership, I NEVER RENEWED. They AUTOMATICALLY renewed. I also cannot safely get a document notarized because of COVID-19. I received a new bill for $520. $130. a year from 9/1/16. Note the agreement started on 9/25/19.

Desired Outcome

Company records updated to reflect agreement cancelled and paid in full. No further contact from company.

I canceled my account years ago and they stopped billing me. Then a few months ago they started billing me for no reason. They blamed a computer glitch but I'm still getting bills. I called but they don't do anything about it

Had cancelled contract w/Family Cord in 2015 on phone However, illegally filling me 2 times now for payment. Unethically charging me money for service
In 2015, cancelled my storing contract with Family Cord. New Manager was horrific & didn't record I CANCELLED. In March 2016, an AWA Collections agency then began to send multiple bills saying I owed. Told them this wasn't accurate- I had already cut ties with FamilyCord in 2015 for horrible customer relations and had no trust w/ their medical storing practices. AWA said they sympathized but couldn't help cause Family Cord management lied that I was still a customer so for 2 about 2 years this was tied up til I had paid it Sept 2018. Today, I have another collections agency after me for $150. PLEASE HELP ME- I JUST PAID AWA CONFIRMATION NUMBER ***-I AM BEING ILLEGALLY CHARGED FOR SERVICE NOT BEING PROVIDED AND I HAD ALREADY TOLD THEM IN 2015, I STOP ALL SERVICES WITH THEM. THEY ARE CHARGING FAKE STORING FEES AS THEY GOT RID OF THE MEDICAL BODY PART WHEN WE WENT INTO COLLECTIONS AS THEY WEREN'T GETTING PAID- THEY REFUSE TELL TRUTH I HAVE ALREADY CANCELLED CONTRACT WITH THEM AND BREAK TIES. THEY ARE GETTING AWAY WITH IT!!

Desired Outcome

I WANT IN WRITING THAT *** IS NO LONGER A CLIENT OF FAMILYCORD AKA CORDCELL AND THAT *** DOESN'T OWE ANY MONEY. AND I WOULD LIKE ALL BILLS TO STOP AND REFUND THE 2016 ORIGINAL BOGUS INVOICE OF $333 THAT WAS SENT TO COLLECTIONS AFTER A YEAR OF ZERO SERVICES OF STORAGE.

FamilyCord, a California Cryobank Company Response • Feb 06, 2020

Recently Family Cord and Cord Blood Registry combined into 1 company. During this transition we accidentally missed this client inquiry through the Revdex.com and apologize for the late response. We keep detailed notes on every client interaction and can verify that Wanda Paradise was able to connect with the CBR team on March 18th, 2019 and at that time our team was able to confirm that she had cancelled ber contract with CorCell prior to CorCell being acquired by Family Cord. We did waive the balance on the account and helped to ensure that her account was closed properly and that no further billing will occur. This account closure was confirmed with the client on April 10th, 2019 via email.

Improper Handling of Stem Cells and Failure to terminate contract
In Feb of 2006 I used the company CoreCell to store my son's stem cells. In May 2009 I submitted their paperwork to terminate the agreement and specifically asked that the cells be destroyed. In Jan 2019 the company that apparently purchased CoreCell, California Cryobank sent me an annual bill for storage. I had not received anything from them since 2009. They acknowledged that the cells were never disposed of and that they had "found" them. They require me to fill out a notarized form to dispose of them or they continue to bill me and claim accrual of late fees. This is beyond outrageous. A facility that deals with stem cells didn't dispose of them properly. Did not paperwork for ten years and are threatening me with continuous bills. I'd not only like them to cease and desist with the bills, but I want them reported to the appropriate agency for mishandling of human tissue.

Desired Outcome

I want an statement in writing from them agreeing that I don't owe them any storage fees. I also want a notarized statement that my sons cells were disposed of. I'd also like to understand what regulatory agency they report to for handling of stem cells.

FamilyCord, a California Cryobank Company Response • Feb 06, 2020

As mentioned in this inquiry, CoreCell was acquired by Family Cord and since this time Family Cord has merged with Cord Blood Registry. Our CBR team has reviewed the account notes and storage contract for this client and can confirm that the account is closed and no future billing has occurred since the time that this client reached out to us. We have confirmed via email this account closure and no further actions have been needed.

Post acquisition, the CorCell customer's annual renewal automatically adjusted to FamilyCord's standard one year storage rate of $150 per year. We have made a one-time courtesy adjustment of -$65 to the account to match the client's expired $85 per year rate.
