F&C Auto & Marine Repair Reviews (1)

Review: FNC Auto & Marine Repair, [redacted] and I had discuss the repair of my boat. [redacted] towed my boat to their shop to estimate/inspect repairs. [redacted] decided he would return my boat stating since he did not have the money, and I was out of town at school. So I said that would be okay, [redacted] never stated any fees or charges to inspect He deliver the boat, but without the OUTDRIVE \ [redacted] said he would bring it the next day, but when we spoke the next day [redacted] then states to me that I owe him $200.00.It appears that [redacted] is holding my property hostage. And I'm being bullied into paying. I tried to explain to [redacted] that these details should have been disclosed. [redacted] felt their was no need since he was doing the repair, but since he's not doing the work he's charging. But I never said bring my boat back, I wanted the repairs to be completed at the shop. How are you going to bring part of my boat back? Why would you take my boat apart without getting a signed contract to complete work. And now charge for something that's not done? I could have transported my boat to and from the repair shop. This is poor business practice, [redacted] had no receipt of service charge, no service contract, never communicated this policy. Please Advise.Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

Return property. This makes me concerned about the condition of my property when return. And no $200.00 charge.

Business

Response:

Business' Initial Response

Company states that they had a verbal agreement with the consumer to work on the boat. When the consumer was told the price, he didn't have enough money so the company stated to contact them when he had enough. A couple weeks later he called the company back and stated that he had the money required to start the work. The company came and picked up the boat several days later. The company called him the next day and stated they needed money to start getting parts as they were already taking the boat apart. The consumer stated that he was going out of town and to bring his boat back.

Since the company had (at their own expense) towed the boat from the consumer's house to their shop and then back to the consumer's house as well as having started working on the boat, they were not releasing the boat without being paid. The boat was left at the consumer's house but the parts were still at the shop. Once the consumer paid the $200.00 fee, the parts were returned to the consumer.

The boat has been returned (with the parts) and the consumer paid the $200.00 fee. Complaint has been resolved.

Consumer's Final Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

Complaint is not resolved this issue is being escalated. The $200.00 was paid because I need the parts to complete the repair work. I was referred to F&C. If the owner had met at the time WE scheduled, he would have received the payment for the work to begin. IT was a no show no call. I began to leave voice & text messages concerned. Days later when he called me I was in SAN JOSE, CA in class, so it was no way to meet with him at that time. HE became defensive and said I quote "I WILL RETURN YOUR BOAT" so I said ok. Never mentioning that he had started work, that he apologize for not meeting with me as prior schedule. He did return the boat but kept the boat parts hostage. Days later he returned to my home intoxicated, when I mentioned the stink on his breath he said "its after business hours", but you are at my residence stating: I owe HIM $200.00 for a business transaction, if I want the BOAT PART, well yes I want it I need it. At that point I realize I was talking with someone... and I said I will see you in COURT! A side note other consumers has had this very issue with F&C removing parts, and holding hostage for ransom. AS stated I was referred to F&C and with all honesty, I entrusted F&C to pick up my boat, give me an estimate and complete the repairs. I had no idea that F&C as stated verbal agreement, would end up in this way. I need my boat operated on and F&C was referred, and I entrusted their work and professionalism, but that is not what I received.
