Please save yourself much aggravation by hiring a different contractor. As Rick Farino's customer; we spent an unjustified amount of time coordinating work efforts with the city, the city inspectors, and his employees in an effort to get the job completed. That is Rick's job, however, he was pretty much missing in action throughout the entire job. He did not return phone calls, emails, or even show up to the job site. Rick Farino does not follow city requirements, does not pay his employees, and has extremely poor communication skills.

Rick Farino does not follow instructions and requirements as given by the city. We attempted to inform Rick, several times throughout the job, that he had failed to request the required city inspections during the job's progress. When the work was completed; he had to redo much of the work as a direct result of the failed inspections. Poor communication and attention to detail resulted in more time and money for everyone. Luckily, we did not pay him until the city inspector had signed off that the work had been completed correctly.

This contractor does not pay his employees. He instructs his employees and sub-contractors to ask for the customer to pay them directly. After we made our final payment to Rick Farino; he told his employees that we had not paid him and that they should ask us to pay them directly. Effectively, he ask us to pay for the same work twice (once to himself and once to his employee). We ended up providing check copies to the employees in order to prove we had paid Rick Farino for all the work that was done. According to his workers, Rick Farino still has not paid them. Rick Farino's business practices are extremely dishonest and unethical.

If you higher Rick Farino, please be sure to get everything in writing. Only pay him directly or you may find him asking you to pay for something you had already paid one of his workers for. Be sure not to make the final payment until the city has signed off on the inspection. Or just higher someone else.
