First Ill start by saying that Mr*** purchased the wood I am only the middle man all warranty on the wood is *** ***The warranty is in every boxMr *** did complain about things to my installers, and every day they did as he requestedMy workers was very aggravated with this
guy but did as he askEveryday we had to move the owners furniture and knickknacks from every roomwhich caused twice as much time as normalI didn't charge this guy a dime extra for this, but we could not continue unless we moved it because the owner would not.The material he says we hauled off was trash, the owner picked apart the wood so much that we had to throw away box after box of woodI have been installing hardwood for years and I have never met a guy like thisEvery day there was 20-post it notes on the floorWhen he would start showing the workers what was wrong where the post it notes were he couldn't even spot the problem and would blame it on his wife Part of our job was to haul the trash off the site and that is what w didThis guy is so paranoid about everything he thinks everyone is taking material home, believe we do not want his left over wood that he didn't want. The casement that he is saying we damaged is ridiculous, all we did was take it off the wall and reinstall itHe even told me that he wanted it installed a little better than we did it but never said he wanted the whole house replacedI have picks that I took and not one piece of casing is damaged. The owner said that I never responded to his emails but Bob is my Project MangIt is his job to talk it over with the customerThat is how I run my company, Project Managers deal with the customers, my only job is I am the Estimator. This guy would not understand that I do not deal with all issues of the company, that is why I have Project Managers, this guy does not get itHe was so obsessed with me that he would not let it rest even though I told him Bob will handle it on site, Bob is right there in front of you so explain it to him and he will do what he can to fix it.The owner chose the wood, there are a lot of more expensive wood that this guy could have purchased, I did not tell this guy what he should buy, I just showed him ***ples and showed him prices, he chose the cheaper wood, yet he expects it to be just like the expensive woodThis guy does not get it that cheaper wood will have flaws in it, Period. I finaly met with this owner at the site and he had post it notes or tape marks on the floorI was stunned and I could see some of his issues and I agreed to have the inspector from *** look at the wood. The Repfrom *** *** came to the owners house and said to Mr *** that he is being ridiculousThat the wood is fine and the installation is fineBut Mr *** thinks he is smarter than the Repand would not believe his opinionThe Rep from *** *** said to me " Ive been inspecting wood floors for years and I have never met someone like this guy, you will never please this guy no matter what you do"When the inspector told him the wood was fine he said ok, then within days he was shooting letters and emails to *** saying the inspector is an it and know nothing. This owner said we didn't check the subfloor, we was not hired to do any subfloor workI don't know if he thinks we work for free, but the sub floor seamed fine to usI was there the first day and helped remove some of the carpet and padThe sub floor was dry and was good to go.I truly believe that the floor needed a couple issues corrected, however I was not going to work on his floor until the inspection was done by *** FlooringBy this time this guy was sending letters to *** saying the inspector didn't know anything about flooring.I truly believe this guy did not want to pay his billI understand holding a little bit of the bill for warranty He has not paid a dime of the installation fee, not one dimeAll he has paid is for the wood itself, and for some of the demo and hauling feesHe has not paid for any prep work, jam saw cutting, floor install, base removal or install, or any clean up I however have paid my workers over $4,in wages. I , Tom Farley, did talk to my Project manager daily through this whole project, he informed me that this guy was a huge pain in the butt, but he was doing all he could to do what the owner askIn my opinion this floor should in no way be removedThat is just crazy talkI myself have certificate to inspect hardwood floor installations and this one is fine. I did tell the owner we would fix some of the issues he was talking about but after reading some of the letters and emails he sent to ***, there was no way I was going to keep spending money on this guys house Knowing he was doing all he could not to pay his invoice. In closing, not only did Farley Floors not get paid on this project but neither did some of the other contractors that was working in this guys house, I spoke with the drywall guys and the cabinet guys, No pay!!!! It is a cycle that this guy causes enough issues and complaints so he doesn't have to pay his bills. After all of this I hope the owner finds a contractor to fix the small issues that needed fixed, and pays them with the money he owes me, which is over $4,000.00 Thank youTom Farley/ Farley Floors Inc

Tom has said that he sent a check and I assume it is on the way.  I have not received it.  He did suggest we meet in person, presumably to fight.  I apologized for how I talked to him but that is not relevant to this.  We did pay him to sand the porch but not to finish it.  Only to sand it.  Perhaps something was lost in communication but his not responding to any of my communications forced me to make this complaint and take other actions to get his attention.I will accept the situation is resolved when I get the money but his characterization of our communications is not accurate.  As I did not talk to him in a nice way, he made accusations towards me and it should be known that he suggested we meet in person.  This is not a case of me being crazy.  I have attached a screen shot of the email suggesting we meet.

To Whom it May Concern:  Because Mr. Farley’s response was directed towards me, [redacted] (male owner), I am responding to take my wife out as being portrayed as both the bad guy and middle man.  My working relationship with Jacob was amiable and both my wife and I have said many times that he is a hard-working, nice guy.  When Jacob was in our home, my wife was at work.  My wife and I couldn’t talk about the progress of the floors until she was home.  I was also not able to walk on the floors to see progress on most days so I wasn't able to see what had been done until Jacob was gone. She is better at asking questions, so she handled the follow-up from our nightly walk-throughs.  Mr. Farley’s response does not resolve our issue.  In fact, Mr. Farley brought up several more points that we did not originally address.  The only factual statement in his response is that I did, in fact, sign a form with payment, but was told I had to do so for the project to be completed.  At the time of signing, I was told that the list of things needing done would be completed.  This complaint was filed because the latter did not happen. If you re-read the original complaint, we never expected the job to be completed in the original time frame.  Dates were identified to establish a timeline.  It was acknowledged that additional time would be needed to make job changes that were requested.  What was not acceptable was the timeline overall.  The change in plan was agreed upon by both parties.  We agreed to pay you an additional  almost $2000 to do exactly as you said in your response - except that’s not at all what was done.  The floors were screened after the change.  They were not sanded to virgin to start over. The damage we reported to our floors was NOT caused by us and it was not caused by furniture.  The damage was caused when the crew moved our stove out of the kitchen and damaged our floor boards in the laundry room.  Jacob replaced these boards.  The crew also moved the appliances back into the kitchen causing damage to the finish.  Jacob tried to repair this, but was not successful.  He had hoped it would be less noticeable when he put the second coat on the floor.  He never returned to put the second coat on.  He returned my calls about completing the second coat.  He said he was on jobs out of town for weeks until he finally stopped responding all together.   The job was too hard for Jacob to complete without adequate help – especially when he had never attempted to do a whitewash before.  The fact remains that the job was never completed.  I never agreed that it was. We have pictures of the “finished” product, too.  Ones that we sent to Mr. Farley showing unfinished work and he said he would come look at and never bothered to do. The kitchen floor was never finished. We have not been asking anything unreasonable – only that the job we paid Mr. Farley (prematurely) to do be done.  We certainly never asked for anything to be done outside of the scope of what the job description was.  Sincerely,

Thank you for taking the time to speak with me when I called last week, and approvingsome extra time to get this supporting docurnentation to you.Supporting Document AWhen my wife read Mr. Farley's response to our complaint on the Revdex.com she stated that shewould like to personally respond to Mr. Farley's claims. Supporting Document A is herresponse.Supporting Document #1As Supporhng Documentation #1 I am attaching a copy of an e-mail from Mr. Tom Farley onJune 14, 2017. In that e-mail Mr. Farley agrees with the 70+ problems the [redacted]s pointedout to him when Mr. Farley came to the [redacted] home on June 13, 2017. Mr. Farley agreedto fix all the problems. Mr. Farley makes no mention of this being pending an inspection [aninspection was arranged by [redacted] sometime after this e-mail from Mr. Farley]. Mr.Farley was not involved in any way with the inspection arranged with a certified andindependent hardwood flooring inspector. In this [redacted]e e-mail Mr. Farley agrees with the [redacted]s "holding money on this job" (untilall problems are corrected). Mr. Farley asks for payment of $800 to cover demo andremoval, and $300 for wooden floor registers provided. Mr. [redacted] sent Mr. Farley acheck in the amount of $1100 to cover the amount requested by Mr. Farley.Supporting Document #2Supporting Document #2 is a copy in the amount of $6064 showing the [redacted]'s paymentto Mr. Farley for the new flooring material. In Mr. Farley's response to the [redacted]s'complaint with the Revdex.com, Mr. Farley states that he was just the "middle man" regarding theflooring material. The canceled check in the amount of $6064.00 is intended to show thatMr. Farley was not just the "middle man." Mr. Farley purchased the flooring material from[redacted] in Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Farley then resold the flooring material to the[redacted]s. I have already provided the Revdex.com, by way of e-mail, the receipt Mr. Farleyprovided for the purchase of the flooring material provided by Mr. Farley.Supporting Document #3Supporting Document #3 is a copy of an e-mail sent by Mr. Farley to [redacted] onMarch 15,2017. Mr. Farley claimed in his response to the [redacted] complaint on the Revdex.comthat the [redacted]'s have not paid for "any prep work, jamb saw cutting, floor install, baseremoval and install, or any clean up." In Supporting Document #3 one will see that all theabove activities are included in the installation labor charge. The only reason the [redacted]shave not paid this is because Mr. Farley has never completed the installation and repairs offlooring, and has not corrected any of the problems he promised to "fix" (in SupportingDocument #I).Supporting Document #4Supporting Document #4 is a copy of an e-mail sent by Mr. Farley to [redacted] on May25, 2017. Mr. Farley claimed in his response to the [redacted] complaint on the Revdex.com that the[redacted]s still owe him over $4000. IF Mr. Farley had completed the installation job andcorrected the over 70 problems Mr. Farley promised to correct in (Supporting Document#1) the [redacted]s would have owed Mr. Farley only $3400. In this May 25, 2017 e-mail Mr.Farley requested a total of $4500. $300 of that was for "Floor vents and installation" and$800 was for "Demo costs." Those two charges have already been paid (canceled check inthe amount of $1100 as Supporting Document #2). The remaining $3400 was for theinstallation and all work associated with the installation. If Mr. Farley would havecompleted the installation and everything he promised, the [redacted]s would have given hima final check for $3400.Supporting Document #5Supporting Document #5 is a copy of a document from the Ohio Secretary of State office andis provided as a result of Mr. Farley's claim on the Revdex.com that he is just the "estimator" and the"middle man." This document from the Secretary of State's office shows that Mr. Farley isnot just the "estimator" or just the "middle man" for Farley Floors. lnc. He is the statutoryagent for Farley Floors' Inc., and, on the Revdex.com site, Mr. Farley is shown as the owner of FarleyFloors, lnc.Supporting Document #6Supporting Document #6 is provided as a result of Mr. Farley claiming, in his response tothe [redacted] complaint on the Revdex.com, that "we were not hired to do any subfloor work" andthat "the subfloor seemed fine to us." Supporting Document #6 was printed out from the[redacted] Corporation website. It is entitled "How to Install a Solid Hardwood Floor." I foundthis document as a result of doing a search of "Responsibilities of a Hardwood FloorInstallers" on the internet. I have 8 other similar documents that clearly state that it is theinstallers responsibility to ensure that the subfloor is suitable, dry, and level. It would havebeen the owners ([redacted]s) responsibility to cover the cost of correcting significantsubfloor problems. I will provide these upon request. This has been verified in a telephoneconversation I had with the in-house hardwood floor installation technical expert for theNational Wood Flooring Association. That person's name is [redacted] and I can provide myreal-time notes from that telephone conversation if requested. This installer responsibilityof ensuring that there are no problems with the subfloor has also been confirmed by[redacted], the product manufacturer, and is included in their instructions to thehomeowner and installer. I can provide the document that spells out those requirementsupon request.Supporting Document #7Supporting Document #7 is an e-mail dated September 25, 2017, from a Mr. [redacted].The certified and independent hardwood flooring inspector we hired to inspect our newfloor was a man named [redacted] (Revdex.com already has a copy of his report/findings). The[redacted]s asked Mr. [redacted] how they might find someone qualified to try and correct themistakes/problems Mr. Farley's crew made to our floor. Since Mr. Farley's abandoning thisjob we have worked hard at trying to find such a person to come in and try to correct theproblems associated with this new hardwood floor project. Mr. [redacted] responded to ourrequest that such a project was going to be very challenging and, and very costly. Heemphasized that the only way he personally knew to find someone qualified to do the workwas to contact the National Hardwood Flooring Association and ask for references for anindependent, and certified hardwood flooring installer. We did that and found the onlyperson within a 50 mile radius who met those requirements. That man is Mr. [redacted],the same man who sent us this e-mail. I have highlighted the first sentence in Mr. [redacted]'s emailwhere he states "... it seems as though the floor will have to be torn out and replaced."Supporting Document #8This is not actually a document. It is a DVD that includes some photos of some of theproblems created by Mr. Farley's installers. It also included a 9 minute video I made ofsome of the problems we had marked in our new floor with Frog brand painted tape.Supporting Document #9This is a printout of e-mails from [redacted] to Tom Farley related to the new floorinstallation by Farley Floors, Inc.Supporting Document #10This is a printout of e-mails from Tom Farley to [redacted] related to the new floorinstallation by Farley Floors, Inc.Supporting Document 11This is a printout of text messages between [redacted] and Tom Farley, related to thenew floor installation by Farley Floors, Inc.

Hello, I received the complaint from [redacted] here is my side of the story....Farley Floors Inc. did work for this customer in May of 2016, Mr. [redacted] claims that he paid for us to sand his porch and says we did not do it.   Farley Floors Inc. does not even do outside work, we do not sand...

porches. He claims he paid us $200.oo for this. $200.00 wouldn't even buy the paint for such a project. The cost of an average room to sand and finish is $1,000.00. I'm not sure what this customer is talking about but I have refunded his $200.00 simply because of his threatening emails which tells me to [redacted]" and that I'm a "[redacted]". Every once in a while I get a customer that is just mental and crazy and this is one of them. I will not return this guys emails or phone calls because of his threatening words. He works at the University in Athens Ohio, and I have forwarded his emails to the University and to the police in Athens Ohio. Our work is not invoiced until the project is complete. All of our jobs work that way. That's how we guarantee our work to look great. All work if totally complete then we invoice for the total amount, that way the owner is always happybefore they pay. This customer was the same. We did sand his living room floor and steps, when we completed we invoiced the amount and he paid in full.  1 year later he for some reason is demanding a $200.00 rebate. I am confused at this customer's attitude and demands, but I did refund the $200.00 to him just to stop the harassment of this guy.Thank you for letting me give my side of the story.

Hello,Thank you for the chance to respond.First I have a written acceptance letter signed by the owner of the house. He was pleased and said he was happy with everything and signed the acceptance form before he paid us.We have returned to this house 5 times now, everytime it is something...

new. The owner told us that he broke a couple boards while moving his furniture back in. We did not move the furniture back in.We did get some finish on the base and a spot on the wall, the owner/male gave us the paint that they had and we fixed the spots. He the owner said that it looked good.We told the owner 5-7 days to do the job but that was impossible because : after we sealed the whole floor the owners changed there mind and wanted the floors white washed, so we had to completely sand the floors again down to virgin wood and start over. The man of the house has been very nice and very easy to work with, but as soon as we leave I get messages from the women of the house. 2 times that we showed up to look at the kitchen floor the man of the house said it was bad timing that day.In my opinion Farley Floors has done way beyond our job description. I can not be responsible for damage that the owners did them selves.I have pictures of the project, starting with having to clean the areas before we could even start the process, and pictures of the finished floors. Undamaged. I have stopped communication with the owner/female because the man of the house has said the floors look great and thanked us, signed an acceptance, and paid. The reasons I returned to the job several times is because we have a great reputation, we do not advertise, we only work from referrals. So I try to keep every customer happy. This customer, I'm sad to say is only 1/2 happy. Also just so we all know, the damage to boards was not Farley Floors doing, It was the owner, My guys was being very nice and patched a couple boards for them. Once we started helping with things that was not our job , then it got out of hand and she started wanting more things done that had nothing to do with us, I have to stop at some point.Thank you Tom FarleyOwner
