Farm Parts Reviews (3)

We needed our marcite pool & deck refinished. We contacted 3 companies & the first two stated they would take 10% & 20% of the loose marcite off for a set price then we would have to pay the additional cost after that. We had no idea how it was determined the percentage. We chose River Rock with sparkles added. I asked to see samples of tile trim & pavers was given booklets. The third company (Pinellas Marcite) stated all loose marcite would be removed & came over with 10 tool boxes of tile. Yes, ten tool boxes which I was shocked but very please. As for the pavers, they had a company that did the pavers & we were shown a booklet & then given a sample of the chosen paver. We had a new hand rail installed, a new skimmer as it was patched numerous times & we always filing the pool as we were losing water. Steve (owner) & the men that worked for him were very nice & professional. Sue (co-owner) was most pleasant & easy to work with. We were very happy with the installation of the pavers. After everything was said & done it seemed we were still loosing water. Steve came back with one of his employees who went underwater & took the light out. The inside was in bad shape & it was repaired at no extra cost. The light was never checked because of the skimmer being patched over & over again from previous owners. We are so pleased with our new pool & deck & working with Steve & Sue was a pleasure. I have had a few people over that wanted to see the work that they did. Work done in October 2015

Our Association voted to use Pinellas Marcite to refinish our pool, based on Sue [redacted]'s assurances of "a whole team coming in every day" (adding that 'her workers loved the heat'), extending to us a choice of new refinishing materials, and her agreement that we would make final payment only after the Department of Health made final inspection and approval,

First, Sue did not bring samples of material for us to choose from.
I went to the DOH and got the samples. Despite our vote to use the material that had a 10 year warranty as opposed to the material with the 5 year warranty, they installed the 5 year warranteed material.

As soon as we remitted the 50% down, they "no-showed", After several calls, finally two to three workers showed up for a few hours, and returned sporadically at best. Sue then said the workers cannot work in the heat....

They were to report and get approval after each step of the work by our pool engineer, YET,AT NO TIME DID THEY REPORT AND GET APPROVAL AFTER ANY STEP OF THE WORK--because the work they did would never pass approval.

Case in point: Marcite was hired and paid to remove ALL fiberglass from our inground pool. Instead of hiring a sandblaster, (which, as Sue said, would cost $200 more), the workers attempted to scrape the fiberglass off, yet did only about 50%. Several of us saw this fiberglass still on, and called the pool engineer--who called them and told them to wait for his arrival to inspect.

Instead, they HURRIEDLY started slopping a brown material on top of the fiberglass left--once that was on, there was no stopping them (an irreversible process apparently). It was a coverup, plain and simple.
They put in crooked steps, and the railings were a complete joke.
The railings were to be inserted in the anchor in the cement. Marcite, instead of returning the too large railing, or buying a new $10 anchor, began pounding away at the railing base muttering "I'll get this [redacted] in there". Of course it fell out and wobbled prior to that.
Ultimately the pool engineer fixed the railings and much of their other bad work.
Unfortunately the fiberglass was not wholly removed; 50% still remains, which means in 5 years we will have problems of lifting, etc.
Halfway through the work, Sue started demanding full payment. She harassed our business office, the pool engineer, alnd us.
She told the pool engineer she wasn;t paid the third installment when in fact she was. He initially believed her and made arrangements for her to get another "third" payment--which really would have been the final....far before the work was finished.

He eventually saw that Sue was manipulating him and falsifying her reports of non-payment. He expressed his extreme disappointment with her tactics as do we.
When Marcite declared they were done, Sue drove to the management offices and sat there from 9 am to 5 pm demanding last payment, although our contract stipulated inspection from the DOH first.
She whined about not making payroll---but half of the time, her workers were down the street on another job!

Pinellas Marcite Finishers Inc drained and resurfaced my pool. The finish included sparkling blue speckles and replacement of the skimmer. The work was completed in just a couple of days. The project was not started on the first promise date but they did complete it when was done on time.

My biggest disappointment is that the speckles can barely be seen. Also, the skimmer was installed in a manner that creates a dome appearance.

I've called the company more than once and Sue is very nice on the phone and promises the company will come out and take care of "any issues". Unfortunately, NO ONE HAS EVER SHOWN UP to look at the finish or smooth out the skimmer dome.

The company's follow-up and Customer support is terrible. Don't use them because they obviously don't come back once the job is done and payment received.
