Farney's Inc. Home & Building Center Reviews (1)

The original order for six tons
of wood pellets was delivered to the
customer as requested. The customer requested that the delivery be made even though he would not be home at the time of the delivery. There was a forecast for sunny weather on the day of the delivery. The
delivery was being...

unloaded by our driver using our "boom truck" which is used for deliveries of large weight shipments.   When the load was unstrapped, one of the pallets shifted,  and the pallet was uneven, and therefore dangerous for
the driver to continue to unload with the boom truck.  When a driver is making a delivery alone to a home  where the customer is not present,  it is imperative that all safety precautions be utilized. The driver made the decision to unload the pallet by hand. He hand stacked approximately 50
individually wrapped bags, weighing 40 pounds each, of wood pellets
that were now tipped. There were no ripped bags in the process. The driver
has done this in the past for customers, and they have appreciated the
fact that he took the time to move the bags into a safer and more secure position. Mr. [redacted] contacted our office, and complained that an entire pallet of wood pellets had been destroyed and asked for
reimbursement. He explained that he would be contacting the RevDex.com and other outlets to complain. Mr. [redacted] quickly began a social
media campaign to publicly shame our company about losing an entire ton of pellets at $275. The cost per ton was $259.90 and again, we maintain that there is no way that
an entire pallet of wood pellets, 50 individually  wrapped  plastic bags stacked tightly on a pallet, would have been destroyed during one
brief rain shower that occurred over six hours after our delivery. Mr.
[redacted] challenged us to "answer his
complaint" via social media, and we did not respond to what we considered to be
blackmail. Mr. [redacted] has also contacted the makers of the wood pellets ([redacted]) in order to complain and seek reimbursement. As recently as August 28th (two weeks after the initial delivery), we have seen that all six pallets were still outside and that the customer
has continued to leave the pellets outside, unprotected from water
and or the elements. He has exhibited no effort to protect the entire six-ton order by taking the product inside to keep all of the
pellets dry and protected, and it was explained to Mrs. [redacted] that shrink wrap
is for shipping purposes only - not to
be used for weather protection. Since
the [redacted]'s have made many statements
which have been  documented on social media - for example, their statement of an inflated price, we have been advised that their statements could be considered as libel. We have, at this point, not pursued this avenue. We maintain that as the seller of the wood pellets,
our liability ended at the time of delivery. Reginald F., President
