I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO FAST FIX AUTOMOTIVE @ 444 EAST SHELBY DRIVE MEMPHIS, TN 38109 WHICH IS LOCATED AT THE CORNER OF[redacted] AND SHELBY DRIVE IN[redacted]. THE OWNER IS [redacted].I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO HIM ON 2/10/2014 FOR AN OIL LEAK AND FUEL SYSTEM SERVICE FOUND OUT A MONTH LATER HE DID A PATCH JOB AND CHARGED ME $180 (TAX ADDED FOR THIS SERVICE ONLY IS $197) FOR THE INITIAL OIL LEAK REPAIR WHICH DID NOT INCLUDE THE FUEL SYSTEM SERVICE WHICH WAS $49.99 ($284 TOTAL). MY HUSBAND TOOK IT BACK BECAUSE IT STARTED LEAKING OIL AGAIN A MONTH LATER, HE QUOTED MY HUSBAND $1000 JUST TO GO IN AND LOOK AT IT. HE ALSO STATED THAT HIS PREVIOUS REPAIR CAUSED THE OIL TO BACK UP INTO THE SYSTEM AND RELEASE OIL (DRIPS) IN ANOTHER LOCATION. HE DID NOT OFFER A DISCOUNTED FEE TO FIX THE PROBLEM EVEN AFTER HE ADMITTED THAT IT WAS HIS PATCH JOB WORK THAT CAUSED AN EVEN BIGGER PROBLEM. I HAVE SINCE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO GET ANOTHER ESTIMATE FROM A MORE TRUSTED MECHANIC WHICH DID NOT QUOTE ME A RIDICULOUS FEE OF $ 1000. THE CAR IS NOW RUNNING FINE WITH NO MORE OIL LEAKS THANKS TO ANOTHER MECHANIC WHO WAS HONESTLY NOT TRYING TO GET A QUICK BUCK BY DOING PATCH WORK.Product_Or_Service: AUTOMOTIVE REPAIRDesired SettlementI WOULD LIKE A FULL REFUND OF THE $184 PLUS TAX (AROUND $197) FROM THE PREVIOUS OIL LEAK REPAIR THAT HE CLAIMED TO HAVE FIXED (HIS ADMITTED PATCH JOB) THAT LATER CAUSED $1000 IN DAMAGES ACCORDING TO HIS NEW ESTIMATE. I DO NOT WANT HIM TO WORK ON MY VEHICLE EVER AGAIN. Business Response I am the owner at FastFix Auto Ms [redacted] brought her vehicle in for an oil Leak repair in which we told her that she needed an oil pan gasket and oil pressure switch.Ms [redacted] brought in the car next day for repairs and requested a fuel system service work performed customer came in weeks later complaining of an oil leak.We than found another leak from a different spot and explained to the customer that the amount of pressure that the engine generates will wear and tear on weak gaskets(similar to pluming)customer given estimate for the work that was needed and left. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Mr. [redacted] did not notify me prior to beginning the initial oil leak repair that there was a possibility that the repair he was performing would make the oil leak worse and possibly lead to additional problems and expenses. I do not accept his response. His explanation for the second leak came after the fact that he had already attempted to fix the FIRST leak and not beforehand. That is CLEARLY A PATCH JOB THAT WENT BAD AS WELL AS bad business anyway you look at it. Final Business Response Hello I am the owner FastFix Automotive. The work performed on the vehicle was done correctly and at the point of the repair was the only Leak found on the vehicle. Being an automotive expert I understand and explain that in some cases due to the age of the vehicle if an engine is sealed at a certain point rather top or bottom giving the amount of pressure an engine produces can cause a weak point(hose gasket or seal)to leak. Thus causing additional repairs to be need(similar to pluming)I am willing to offer a free oil change as a courtesy to the customer. Thanks [redacted]
