Fast Fix Jewelry Repair and Gold Buyers Reviews (1)

Review: I had just got engaged April 27,2014 Sunday and had taken my ring to "Fast Fix" located at Fashion Valley Mall that following Monday April 28,2014. I was told they did excellent work by my mom who I trusted was right. She has always been a loyal customer there and personally knew the owners father who works out in Palm Springs running the same business. I had went to Fast Fix Monday showing up around 3:30 PM straight after work. I told the manager who told me would be cutting and sizing my ring how I had just got engaged and showed them my 14 kt white gold princess cut diamond ring. It was a size to big and the "manager" which I did not get his name, who was going to be doing the work on my ring, walked me through the basic procedure on how he was going to size the ring for me. I was really nervous. Basically he had pulled out a piece of paper and showed by sketching a drawling how he was going to cut the ring, size the ring by showing me the tools, and delivered information making me feel comfortable. He told me it was going to take. I shopped around fashion valley meeting my mom with in that third hour prior to picking up the ring. When I had got the phone call to pick up the ring is when my problem begins.

I ran straight over to the shop knowing work had been done done to the ring wanting to see how things went. As soon as I got to the Fast Fix where I had taken the ring, the manager floated around the shop waiting around until he gave me news that the ring was done. My first question was " Can I get the gold that was taken out from sizing the ring along with my ring because I had plans to use the remanding gold." The manager who had cut the ring replied, "No." He replied that he had used the white gold he took out from the ring to put it back into the ring. Basically he stole my gold. There was no extra gold added to the ring he had just taken the gold and sold it. The next question was to see my ring. He had cut the ring and welded it back together and did a HORRIBLE job. He had made the ring look lop-sided and had left his thumb prints where he heated the gold to put back together. Also, after paying the man $150.00 the ring did not fit correctly as we had discussed the size before the work had been done. I had asked the manager who had cut the ring to fix the size like we had discussed before and to fix the bent shapes along with his thumb prints located on my ring from his welding. He sized the ring in front of me not corresponding to the measures we had first discussed making it noticeable that the job was done incorrectly. The "manager" who had done all the work on my ring told me he would not be fixing his work done to the ring and to get out of his store, I would not be getting my ring back because of my disappointment. I told him there was absolutely no way I would leave the store without my ring and that would be stealing, therefor I would call the cops if it were not returned to me. The "manager" informed me that since I had accused him on stealing the gold that he did not give back from cutting the ring, he would not fix my ring or give me the ring back. After I had waited in the store fussing about getting the ring back for twenty to twenty five minutes with my mom by my side, the manager told me to pay and to get out. I gave him my card as it had been laying at his register the entire time and he told me I needed to apologize before he took my payment or then again I would need to exit his shop without my ring. I told the manager to take my payment as he was holding onto my card in his hands and I would not apologize because he was refusing to fix his mistakes on the ring and he was refusing to give it to me. He told me I was the worst customer in the world, how he hated people like me, and how I can never return to his shop. He slid my card and made me sign while he still held onto my ring. I stuck my hand out waiting for the manager to hand it over and he took a minute or two until he had dropped the ring into my palm and I left.

I went upstairs to a jewelry company located in the same mall and had showed them the ring that I had just got back from Fast Fit. I had never met the people who worked there or knew about their business until we had met that day walking from jeweler to jeweler. The girl first flipped the ring over where she was viewing the work that had been done to the ring and said it was poorly taken care of. The work had been done incorrectly and the job was done bad. She pointed out the poor work, the ovalness to the ring, and the thumb prints. She asked where the remanding gold was and I told her what the manager had told me. " I did not get gold back because it was put back into the ring." She told me that was impossible, her jaw hitting the floor. [redacted], the lady in charge of the jewelry store upstairs informed me that the manager should have gone back to fix the ring and I should have gotten my gold back. [redacted] informed me that that manager was stealing the gold that was taken out if I was not getting the gold back. I told her everything he had done and said along with asking what she would have charged a customer for work on a ring like I had just got done. She did the information showing me on her computer her work and the price coming to $126.00. I felt like the manager at Fast Fix had taken money from me and left me with a bad job on a beautiful ring.Desired Settlement: Take their license away. I had informed my bank about the transaction and hoping they put a hold on the pay. I would like to see my money back and Fast Fix out of business.

Response:

Dear [redacted],

After taking the time to read what you just posted there is couple things & advices that I can say:

1-The ring size was perfectly sized to the size you and I agreed on , and I have your signature on the form, so "Lying won't make your point valid"

2-Finger prints don't stay or stain on metal specially after getting it polished and steamed, Remember we did a ring sizing not a painting job, and I have a video taping of your ring white getting it cleaned for your bad luck! so "Creating evidences that never existed will not make your point valid"

3-Stealing your "GOLD", always remember that your ring size was 7, and we took it down to a 6, which means that a small piece of 4mm length or even less, was taken out of your ring shank, and if you take the time to use brain for some calculations you will find out that this piece is in fact less than 0.25 grams in weight, each gram of 14k gold sells for $23$, so the actual value of the piece we took out is definitely less than $7$ which is not worth ruining my business reputation or even loose a valuable customer like your MOM, Mrs [redacted] who knows for fact that all what you are saying does not make any sense , but still you are her daughter.

4-There is no universal ring sizing method, and your friend Rebbecca (with all my respect) does not know about my business as much as I do, my method in sizing ring consist on welding the shank with the same type of metal to avoid impurity or cracks, and this is what you were refusing to listen because you had in your mind that I took a "GOLD BAR" out of your ring, maybe if we did 2 sizes or more you will be definitely getting a small piece back.

5-The way that you approach a professional person by accusing him of "stealing your gold" raising your tone of voice, refuse listening to explanations, being disrespectful and acting in a very impolite way with no manors ,even though he did his best to do a perfect job for you, and not take his break to finish your ring ASAP to make you happy,

all that can drive to one conclusion, you are suffering of Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), it was obvious and you need HELP, because persons like you can cause bad days for the entire society without even feeling it.

6- I did not ask you to apologize since apology from persons like you doesn't count, I've seen that in your mother's eyes, and she already apologized while you were screaming and shouting in the store.

I hope you will do better [redacted]

Best wishes,

Consumer
