I received a call from the business today. I was told that even if I did not get the car to him for repair that if I got the car fixed in my area that he will pay for it. I am satisfied with this response and wish to close out the complaint.

Mr. [redacted] purchased a vehicle from Fast Lane Classic Cars in November 2015. Eight months later is when we first heard about his complaint regarding the engine issue that he was having. Upon hearing this...

complaint, we responded on June 17th, 2016 at 2:02 pm via email, offering him to get the car to Fast Lane Classic Cars and we would agree to pay to confirm the diagnoses of the vehicle. If our repair shop confirmed his diagnoses of the vehicle, we agreed to repair the broken pistons rings ourselves, at our cost. As recently as July 11, 2016, we offered to help Mr. [redacted] with transport to get the vehicle to Fast Lane Classic Cars at a cost of $600 round trip. Instead, he wants Fast Lane Classic Cars to pay him $2,500, which Mr. [redacted] states in his complaint, is 1/3 of what it will cost him to repair the engine. As you can tell from this last statement, it seems as though he is willing to pay $5,000 out of his own pocket to fix his car (with Fast Lane paying the other $2,500) instead of paying $600 round trip to get the car to Fast Lane Classic Cars and allowing us to make the repairs ourselves by our engine shop.

The 1964 Chevy Impala that Mr. [redacted]'s chose to purchase was planning on being sold as he originally saw the car. The vehicle was NOT stock and had modifications made to it. Mr. [redacted]'s wanted certain things brought back to stock/upgraded to his specifications. He said he would purchase the vehicle if we made certain modifications to the car to bring it back to stock, which he wanted. As stated in our previous response, he thoroughly looked over the vehicle before purchasing and was satisfied with the work that was performed on the vehicle. In an act of good faith, Fast Lane chose to purchase the vehicle back from Mr. [redacted]'s at his request. We are keeping the $1,500 to help pay for the modifications that he specifically requested and Fast Lane agreed to.

Re: [redacted]
The customer contacted us by phone days after they received the title from Ohio with great surprise ( to all parties involved) that it now had a Rebuilt/Salvage Title.
[redacted] stated that he in fact would buy...

the car back for $18,000.00 (The purchase price) along with the expenses due to taxes & transport as a result of this new information on a call January of 2013.
In that conversation, [redacted] also said that he was not aware of any previous title status as,... when he bought the car,...it had a Clear Missouri Title.
(The complainant received that Clear Missouri Title and only after they had registered the car in Ohio,..did the Salvage Status appear.)
The Complainant was advised on Mr. [redacted]'s original call (January, 2013) to forward the Ohio title to us so that we could start the Buy Back process. Once we received the car and the title,...Fastlane would Refund all of their money including the taxes & transport costs they had originally paid for.
We never heard back from Mr. [redacted] until 45 days ago (appox from the date of this complaint)
2.5 years later (appox) we received a call and a letter from Mr. [redacted]'s Legal Counsel (30 days ago) requesting that we buy the car back at this time for $28,000.00 as they had spent $10,000.00 on the Interior.
(This increased amount was due to the fact that the [redacted]'s had made cosmetic improvements to the Mustang after they had titled the car in Ohio.)
We advised the attorney that we would buy the car back still for their purchase price of $18,000.00,...but after almost 3 years of ownership & enjoyment,...we would not be paying for their Tax & Transport costs much less the money they invested into their cosmetic improvements,...again,...they have had & enjoyed the car for 2.5 years after they received that Title.
We now understand through this complaint, that they are requesting $24,000.00
It's easy to see that the [redacted]'s are negotiating to recoup the monies spent (at their choice)on a car that they had an issue with almost 3 years later. They spent those monies in FULL knowledge of the Ohio Salvage Title Status.
At this point,...we feel that Fast Lane responded with great integrity at the time (January of 2013) the [redacted]'s became aware of the Title status and offered to Refund every single expense associated to that unforeseeable event.
Fast Lane Classic Cars, Inc. position is that we offered a total resolution to their complaint back in January 2013. The Complainant did NOT act upon that one time Full Refund offer only to enjoy the car, make improvements knowingly and have us years later pay for it all.
In our view,....we did everything we could do to resolve the situation at the time is was a situation,...the [redacted]'s did not take that opportunity.
We no longer feel that the [redacted]'s have a actionable complaint due to time and constant use between the two and half year window of ownership starting in January of 2013.
We would suggest that the [redacted]'s appeal to the State of Ohio for clarification to the current title status and offer some form of proof of previous damage and reason for Title Re-Classification in their State.
As you may be aware,...title status can change from State to State due to something as simple as the car being "Rebuilt" or "Restored" in the State's eyes. Not always is a Rebuilt / Salvage title designation due to the car being wrecked, stolen or an otherwise catastrophic circumstance.
Respectfully Submitted,

I am rejecting this response because:the purchase price of the vechilewas $23000.00plus a $95.00 processing fee.  as per the conversation with the owner of Fastlane , I feel that them keeping $1500.00 dollars is very bad business when they new that car was not what I was buying . the salesman and service manager both new I wanted a stock 1964 chevy impala ss , I was in good faith taken there word that the car was fixed according to my wishes and agreement, I feel that FASTLANE  should do the reputable thing and refund all money involvedin this situation. at this point I am highly disapointed  that Fastlane does business in this manner. all I can say is buyers be where of sush business
Sincerely,
