Hello and thank you for sending the info - IN THE FUTURE please mail in paper to insure we receiveThere are many advertisements that come so the complaint was missed.
Regarding this complaint.
Communication - customer should call *** when needed anything, apparently she
would email or call cell phones because there is such high volume on cell phones and her calls could be missed. In the beginning of any job, the customer receives a welcome letter and it states to call one number. This avoid confusion and delay.
For ice maker - there is an appointment for Tuesday 3/to go to check problem and correct it
For receipt - we mailed a receipt today for the amount paid by the customer
For the phone jack, because there were many problems for many reasons on this job including switching multiple crews, the customer was given a discount of $which was substantial compensate for time delay and some of the work she was not happy with even though we went back and corrected it, the phone jack was one of the problems. The customer owed a balance of $and after going over her concerns and giving her the discount there was a balance of $1500. When we went to get the balance, she only paid $and kept another $which was not an agreement. The extra $she kept can be used toward replacing her phone jack.
Written warranty - We have no written warranty other then what is listed on the reverse side of her contract. Please have her refer to that. Her warranty expires 1/31/
Extended warranty - we do not offer extended warranties - our sub-contractors are held to a year which we offer the customer
WE regret that she is not happy with our service and again agree to problems that arose. We continued to try to satisfy and in the end we gave the discount. OF course we strive for customer satisfaction in all our jobs and it is unfortunate this this customer is not

January 7, 2015Dear [redacted],I am writing in regards to the above captioned complaint.  This is an old customer and we value their business   However there have been a few problems with this job. It was delayed for manufacturing and since installation We have tried several attempts...

to satisfy this customer and have no problem working with Mrs. [redacted] which we have told her.  The issue is with the storm door.  The last time we spoke to her she called and asked if we could come there to do her requested caulking specifically of 2 screw spots needed to be done that would their last request) this was after a previous visit which took hours building a piece over the door that Mr. [redacted] asked us to do at the advice of his neighbor we believe.  It was not included but we accommodated his request at our expense. When Mrs. [redacted] called to request the final visit which was two spots only and that would be it.   I spoke to her personally, very nice conversation and we both agreed it was reasonable request and as long as she would be there we would come.  We also advised her that the door was under warranty UNLESS someone else does any work to it then entire job warranty is void.  We also explained that a storm door is not 100% moisture eliminated but it is to keep high winds and heavy rains and other elements from damaging the door. With the door, and the added ledge built on top per the customer instructions and request only slight moisture should be getting in if any unless a heavy rain with wind or sideways rain.  The attach photos show the door to be in tack, top ledge built to be clean and the in between door dry witnessed by our worker, secretary and photo.  This was after a very heavy rain.  The door is in good working order.  The wasted trip is $125.00 normally since the customer would not allow us to Do what they asked us to do and knew we were coming.  Visit photo taken 12/29There has been a bad history dealing with Mr. [redacted] during course of this job which we will not get into right now.  Mrs. [redacted] is well aware.  Bottom line, we would like customer warranty to stay in tack and will be glad to come one last time to Calk two screw holes only as Mrs. [redacted] requested however it is a must that only Mrs. [redacted] be present.  She may call me and I will set apt weekdays 8-12.  It will be the final trip and a fee of $125.00 will be assessed if she is not present and we are not allowed to caulk the two holes.  Please have her call me In the end we really do want both Mr. & Mrs. to be happy with job. Anita M

Good afternoon this is Harry from Father & Son Builders Inc.I am responding to case number [redacted]. This issue has been resolved and we are doing the work for the customer.

I am very disappointed with their service. First it took months until they started the job, and then, once they started the subcontractor took forever on what should've been a 3 days job. Two days after they finished and I gave them my final payment, the problems started: my sing is leaking and 2 tiles fell from the bathtub area. I called several times within 3 weeks, I spoke with Anita and Mary and they said that they will send someone right away - needless to say, nobody came. In the end, I had to hire another contractor to fix my bathroom - and I found out that I was overpriced by $15000! Is this what a reputable company does???? No, thank you....I will NEVER hire you again!

The worst company ever, I kid you not. Do not use this company. They take weeks / months to get started. They also sub- contact, and it appears to be to the least professional people. They caused more damage than the repair. Do not allow them to do any repairs especially plumbing. They over priced and took months to complete the job. I had to get a different plumber to finish the job.The plumber sucked and Chris the salesperson did to. He kept telling us to get a lawyer. I'm just so glad to get rid of these people. I suggest you not hire this company at all!

Re: Father and Son Builders [redacted]. Pa [redacted]

Construction Services for

[redacted] and [redacted], Pa [redacted]

To whom it may concern:

Today we received a bill for $ 3000 with an interest payment attached for work that was not completed at the above named residence. The job was not completed and they walked off the job. We are now left with approximately $ 3,000 in repairs to complete the project-that they did not finish.

Additionally, there were many flaws that we had to correct after they left the job.

These include:

1. An electrical socket that was installed and not only arced, but caused a small fire in the wall. We had to replace it, only to find there were bare wires exposed inside the socket. The one line of three high hats, started making a noise like wires sounding like the bulbs were going to burn out. That line of high hats then stopped working. We had to replace one of the sockets to get them all working again. We then realized they must have used recycled sockets- none of them were as clean and new as the one we just replaced and were all different sizes.

2. The hardwood floors that we purchased and they installed are now creaking and showing signs of fine cracks in the wood in certain spots. The floors are uneven. One side of floor near front window is one inch different from other side - meaning they did not level the underneath out. We asked several times, if there should be a sub floor put under the new flooring- we were told no, that was not necessary. We will probably have a major issue with this flooring and of course they will not be around to stand up for it.

I also have a picture of the piecing that was done near the door. I know that there has to be some spacing, but this is a gap and already, there is dirt accumulating in this gap. `

3. We were told that they would not have to cut the carpet on the stairs in doing the removal of the stair spindles. On the very first day, they cut the carpet resulting in having to remove all the stair carpet We were told not to worry - they would make it right. They did not make it right. In fact , they made it worse and in trying to fix it expected us to live with an inferior look to the steps. As I have stated, we were told they would not cut the carpet and it was something we had not planned on doing. There lack of care in doing the first cuts, caused this situation. We now have to put out $ 2,000 for a carpenter to fix this mess and another $ 700 to put new carpet on the steps. I have taken photos of this disaster and will send as evidence of their incompetence. Additionally, per the contract, they were to install a new handrail for the stairs. They decided to sand and re-stain the old handrail. This looks absolutely awful! I think an amateur could have done a better job on it.

4. We were told that by applying another layer of dry wall only to the ceiling in the new bedroom, it would create a sound barrier. Since then we have learned that in order to truly have no noise, they would have had to install a sound barrier between the floors- not just a 5/8 inch sheet of drywall. Another example of shoddy workmanship and inferior business practices. They said they have been in business for close to 75 years. You would think they would know this. We now have a ceiling that is covered by another layer of drywall.

5. They were to install a closet system- that turned out to be 2 rods and a cheap wire shoe rack that they purchased at [redacted]...

Additionally, most of the supplies for this job were purchased by us and they installed them. The supplies they did bring were obviously recycled parts. The fist day that the worker came, he had no plans and no idea he was making one large room. We had to share our plans with him. There was no oversight of this worker by the manager or foreman. The only time we saw a foreman or a manager, was when they wanted a check. If we, the home owners had not ask questions and been here daily watching this job- it would not even be done to this end. They were paid on time for the work they completed, BUT we draw the line on the last $3000 as this is what it will cost us to fix their mess!

In conclusion, the work that was agreed upon by contract was not completed. We were told they do not leave the job until they are done. They did leave the job and when they did return it was several days later and they came and picked up their tools and left. To my mind that is walking off the job and leaving it not completed.

Lastly, per the contract, there was to be a walk through and a punch list to be completed, which they never called to complete. This company is great at telling you at what they want from you the customer, but is not so good at accepting constructive criticism from their customers.

There are too many of these types of contractors out there- ones who start jobs and do not finish. We are glad to read that some of them are getting their just deserts by being discovered for what they truly are. This is another example of a company that warrants some investigation.

We appreciate your time and attention to this letter.

Very Truly Yours,

[redacted] and [redacted]

Regarding the complaint filed with [redacted]. [redacted], Complaint # [redacted]

First, we would like to say we stand behind our standards and our reputation. Father & Son has been a household name since 1928, and with us since 1987. If there is a problem with a job and we are aware of it, we always meet and discuss and if any adjusmtments are needed wether it turns out to be a discount or the customer owes monies, we settle it like good business people. The Revdex.com is well aware of our stellar reputation and we work very hard to maintain it so some of the harsh words the customer has used are unfair and resented in our opionion however they are entitled to theirs. With that said, we are pleased that they have finally reached out as the only reason they did was as they admitted they received a past due invoice from us. The reason they received an invoice is because we had been attempting to reach them for approximatly 4 weeks to do a walk through and make good on some promises and discuss moving forward, complete and finalize the job. We did not and have never walked away from a job. We are contractual obligated as they are in seeing it through to the end wether it be a settlement as they requested or we visit, make a punch list and complete and collect our contracted balance. WE have never and would not use recycled parts. We dispute many of the things they listed but again need to meet and see.

We were aware of a problem with the steps color and offered to carpet them. As far as a fire, we have NEVER heard about this from the fire department nor the customer becasuse we could not get a return call until we sent an invoice. It sounds like the customer may have some ligitimate complaints and we are willing to meet with them as we have been trying to do, and evaulate and plan a solution if they so desire at which time we will finalize contract. We certanily would not leave a job and walk away, it is not legal for either of us to do it without a written agreement. This is one option. Meet & Complete

The other option if if they truly do not wish us to do anything further and adjust their balance, we may consider allowing them out of the contract and they allowing us but a full mutual release must be signed by both parties ending the relationship in writing. We would release them and their obligations and they would release us and ours. In the end wether we see, take action and get paid the balance or release each other, we would like to have the customer satified with the outcome if at all possible.

I have attached the mutual full release. They may print and sign original and mail it to us at which time we will sign and send it back with a paid in full receipt. Or please have them call for an appointment for us to see their concerns and come to an agreement to completeing the items if necessary, at which time full payment would be due less a discount of $300.00 for the inconvenience. Had they contacted us sooner we could have settled this long ago.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention , we truly wished the customer would have just called and we would have gone right out. As we stated, our goal is an amicable solution for both parties.

Thank you,

Consumer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regards,

Wow, what a difference a year and a half makes!
I feel bait & switch tactics were used during our kitchen remodel. A professional salesman sells the job, a project manager measures and then they subcontract the work out. The workmanship certainly was not up to our expectations and the job went over 4 weeks. There were several no call, no shows. Now, we have to hire some one else to redo our drywall and paint. Management doesn't even have the courtesy to return your phone calls. Very disappointing!

Review: I had Father and Son do an addition to my bedroom. During the construction I had leaks in the roof and problems with the new closet. Months ago I started having a leak through my bedroom window and the wall started puckering. I had somebody look at it and he claimed the new roof wasn't properly attached to the existing roof. He also said when they replaced the window they did not put flashing around it as was the proper way. As a result my new carpet got soaked and my wall has been compromised.Desired Settlement: I would like a partial refund for the cost to repair.

Response:

We value this customer and the business she has given us. Her job was completed in July of 2011 with a warranty of one - year. During that time, she did call the office for service but it was for closet doors. (we keep everything in the Computer) During a recent campaign we called our old customers to see if they needed any work done, it was then we found out the customer had a leak. We called and made an appointment to go and see the problem however there was snow on the roof. WE have given it to our roofer again to go out. We will take care of the problem very soon when weather allows. We thank the Revdex.com for brining this to our attention.

Review: Father and Son authorizes work to be done by subcontractors, and highly discourages their customers from seeking city inspection of their work. The company provided an inferior product in a faulty deck railing system, and has failed to rectify the issue in an honest way. Company also never started other projects they were contracted and paid to do. It took company a month and 2 weeks to start on the project in question.Desired Settlement: The business needs to reevaluate all aspects of its customer relationship policies.

Response:

I hired Father and Son in April of 2015, to reface the outside of our house, replace doors and windows and do a driveway. I gave my deposit in April they were to start my project on August 3 2015. Needless to say August 3 came and went. We had dozens of phones calls to the owner go ignored and unanswered. They eventually started work on September 3rd. We hit a sang, which required a city permit, they waited 30 days to file for the permit, when they told me they filed right away and blamed the city for the delay. It is now November 9 and my house still stills a mess and nowhere near completion. I have exposed brick and huge gaps completely around the outside and the only thing I hear from the owner when he decides to return our call is "everything is fine". They caused more damage then improvements. I call and call, it takes a week to hear from anyone. This company is awful!

Review: Hello,

My bathroom was just remodeled by Father and Son builders located on [redacted] pa [redacted]. The bathtub is now rusting, the bathroom window is broken and the cabinet drawers do not close. I called the company and asked them to come fix these issues and they do not want to fix them. They said we used chemicals to clean the tub and that is simply untrue. Please call me at ###-###-#### for further details. Thanks.Desired Settlement: I would like all of my broken bathroom issues fixed. This includes the window, bathtub, and cabinet drawers that were installed by the Father and Son builders.

Response:

We regret that this customer filed a complaint, we valued their business and prior to the complaint we were working on their issues. Their contracts warranty and our liability expired in 2012 however because we value them as customer's we attempted and succeeded in contacting the manufacturers to help them. Manufacturer warranty are usually longer. The tub issue is small rust spots, we contacted [redacted] and they advised is they would have to deal direct with the customer. This was on February 18. As of today, they have stated they have spoken to the customer and are sending a field representative out to evaluate.

For the window, we contacted the manufacturer also who should be contacting them shortly. [redacted] Building Products is a very trust worth company.

For the drawers there is nothing that can be done, they were inspected and are working properly however they are a little tight. No adjustments can be made and manufacturer will not replace. They are usuable,

As you can see, although we did not have to because warranty is expired , we were helping them get their issues resolved because we cared about them and customer service. I am sure they can verify that [redacted] did in deed contact them.
