Father and Son Electric Service Reviews (6)

We had a amp box installed and recessed lights with dimmer switches The discussion about price was handled in a very professional way which caused us to give the job to Father and Son Electric The electricians were very professional, explained the job as they went about their tasks, and answered thoroughly the few questions we had, particularly why it was important to have work done up to current code specificationsWe were particularly impressed with who we assumed was the lead electrician, his seriousness of purpose and the way he made sure all aspects of the job were done correctly

*** was prompt and did a great job in a timely fashion I am very happy with the job done at my home!

I had no problem with the $service call and $per hour chargeswas that after the tech took an hour to figure out the ballast was bad he tried to charge me for two hours because it took him almost minutes to try to call someone to price the part and check availabilityHe wrote down the wrong part number and that's why no one could find it and that's why time went over an hourI told him I wasn't going to pay for two hoursHe said he would pro rate it to hoursReluctantly I paid, but soon afterwards I called the owner and told him I think I should be refunded the half hour ($42.50)The owner, ***, was rude and condescendingWe argued back and forth until he said I wasn't worth his time and he would refund me the $He felt the need to tell me that they are a "***" company and that he didn't get rich ripping people offNeedless to say I did not get a refundI even went to his office and tried to explain to him that I should not have to pay extra because the tech made a mistakeNo luckSo basically I paid a total of $dollars just for the tech to tell me it's a bad ballast and that *** would probably charge me over $to fix it, but if I wanted he could do it on the side at a lower priceThat was a red flag and the fact that *** has to use the whole "***" angle to try to gain your trust is another red flagIf *** would've shown some compassion and refunded me the $for his techs mistake I would not be leaving this review It now makes me feel like the tech was wasting time on purpose to get more moneySad

We recently hired Father and Son Electric Service to replace our meter box in an emergency situation. We are a small business and this was during open hours, as well as being July, it was hot. They had to work with our old building which had all kinds of crazy wire as the previous owners were an electric company years ago. The work was done in a timely and professional manner. We are pleased to be back in business and cool. A very good job indeed.

I recently had an issue with a flood light that wasn't working, I talked to [redacted], the owner of Father & Sons, and he said he would send over a tech to fix it. The tech, who was professional and courteous, took two hours to trouble shoot and still couldn't figure out what was wrong. He then took another hour to tie it in to existing floodlights so it would be functional The tech was here for 2 hours and 47 minutes but I was charged the $85 service fee as well as a full 3 hours totaling $399 to fix a single floodlight. I felt like that was a lot of time and money to do such a simple job and felt the price was excessive. The tech told me that the company does not discount or pro rate under any circumstances.

I called the owner, [redacted], to discuss my bill and was trying to state my case so he could understand where I was coming from. He cut me off to talk over me and I asked him if I could finish. He told me that conversations are two way and I was doing all of the talking. I told him I was trying to explain what my issue was and that he should let me finish and then he could respond. Remember, I am the customer. He was defensive, told me he didn't have time for this and hung up on me. He then called back moments later and we tried again. The conversation became heated as we argued for about 15 seconds and then he told me that the problem was that I was too cheap to pay the bill. Mind you I had already paid the bill. He then told me that I was one of those people that buys a nice house and can't even afford the upkeep and that since I was so cheap I probably should have moved to Regency Park where I could afford to live.

This is the owner of the company treating a paying customer like this. If you go to any third party review websites you will notice that there are numerous negative comments about [redacted] specifically and several people have stated that he also was condescending and hung up the phone on them. There is obviously a pattern here and there are plenty of other electric companies out there who do good work, have professional techs but also have a courteous and professional owner who treats his customers with respect. [redacted] was beyond obnoxious and I would not use his company again, nor would I recommend them. I would advise anyone looking for electric work to not use Father & Sons and support an organization with an owner that has a growing reputation for belittling his customers.

BEWARE! We called Father and Son for an issue with our power being out in half of the house. The electrician told us that he could not fix the problem because the panel was too old and not safe, but they could replace the panel for $1900. We took him outside to where the pool pump and pool house had no power and is on a completely different panel and he told us he could not find the issue that maybe we did not have enough voltage going to that area. Needless to say he handed us a bill for almost $300. We had another company come out an hour later found and fixed both issues within an hour at half the price. I spoke to the owner of Father and Son and expressed my displeasure at getting nothing fixed for $300 and he told me "you paid for our time." I do not know how companies like this can stay in business!!!
