*** *** brought in his watch after a nasty motorcycle accident. His insurance company paid him to replace it and or fix the watch in question. However, the customer chose to fix it instead of replace it for the reason being that he was emotionally attached to it because it belonged
to his fatherWhen hearing how much it would cost to replace all the parts that had been damaged quite severely with genuine Rolex parts; he said"fix it as cheap as possible". We at that time had recommended replacing all of the parts with genuine Rolex parts but no, the customer insisted "keep it as cheap as possible". We then informed him that we could have our watch maker replace the parts with "aftermarket parts" for example; a plastic crystal instead of a genuine sapphire crystal, we went with a bezel that would fit rather than a genuine snap in Rolex bezel. Along with this our watch maker invested a lot of extra time into sanding by hand all of the dings, scratches and scrapes caused by the accident The watchmaker also worked on the internal part of the Rolex mechanism so as to not only get it running again, but so it would run properly. As far as having to bring it in five times to have adjustments made and constant maintenance; we informed the customer that yes sometimes it is necessary to fine tune a watch that should have been scrapped and replaced but due to emotional reasons, the customer wanted to salvage it and "fix it as cheap as possible". Unfortunately, due to the costumer's choice to "fix it as cheap as possible", when he chose to sell it, he wasn't happy because they weren't genuine Rolex parts so he could not get what the Rolex would have been worth had it been fixed with genuine parts and or replaced You cannot use cheap parts on a Rolex and call it real. At that time our watchmaker considered it "a total loss" and the customer was advised so. The customer received a very healthy settlement from his insurance company to replace and or fix the watch with genuine parts and he chose to "fix it as cheap as possible" per his request. The reason we were given was that he "just wanted to be able to wear it for sentimental reasons, so let's just fix it as cheap as possible." We have in point of fact sent Mr*** a full refund of $not because we feel it was owed to him but for the reason being we do not ever wish to work with him again on any level. We wish him all the best however, please if you are seeking a jeweler please go else where and let them deal with you As a company that has been doing business since we pride ourselves in our excellent customer service and we love working with our customers. We also strongly follow the policy of treat your someone as you wish to be treated. This policy has served us well and we continue to strive to live by this very motto. We have also learned over the years that you cannot make everyone happy all the time and there will be those who will find fault in everything you do, no matter how much you bend over backwards for them.
