On 12/16/19 I came into the *** branch location and advised *** the customer service representative that I was having issues with a specific merchant that continued to debit my account. I was told that once I canceled my current debit card and activated the new one that the bank had issued I would not have any issues with the merchant. I advised the customer service representative that I needed to fill out a stop payment form and she assured me that I did not. At 4am on 12/17/19 the merchant debited $120.00 from my account. I reached out to the bank and spoke to *** who was extremely rude and told me that I needed to take my issue up with company because that's who my issue was with. I explained to her what I had to *** and she told me I needed to go to the *** location. I go to *** location were *** and *** proceeded to speak to me as if I had a 5th grade education and that I was not understanding the process. I asked to close all 5 accounts with the bank and was only able to close 4, the bank continued to state that this was hit there issue. *** closed the accounts threw money and receipts at me, while *** sat and looked confused. I have never been so disrespected in my life. I am out $240 because of this and was basically told to suck it up.
Ms. signed a legally binding contract with *** and tried to close her account without paying them what was owed. The credit union can not control the chargeback right's that *** has, nor can we get involved in the contract between the two. Furthermore, there is only one charge for $120.82 from ***, not two. ***, never once "threw" anything at Ms., we have camera footage to prove this. We have explained this simple concept numerous times to Ms., even after she came in and re-opened her accounts and continued to use her debit card. Her issue is with ***, not FedStar.
I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. My complaint is about customer service, even in the response you can see the nastiness on how the situation was being handled, throwing my money on the counter and my receipts are not good customer service. I have the camera footage to prove that is what happened as well. When I called to use the debit card it’s because I still had money in the account, my issue is with Fedstar and the rude employees they have working for them. What business tells you they can see your complaint and everyone can and tells you that you are in the wrong for filing one? If the customer service was better the complaint would not be filed. I payed *** and showed the bank a copy of the receipt and money order. Oh but one of the girls who work at the bank told me she used to work for *** so what a coincidence, now the bank wants to make it look like I was trying to close the account to avoid paying ***. I took my issue to the bank with my proof and was given incorrect information, the bank refuses to acknowledge that then they try and talk to you as if your dumb. I’m very well educated and working at a bank as a teller doesn’t require a college degree so I don’t understand why they feel as if they are doing rocket-science. This response proves my point on how they handle customers which is a shame.
