First impressions
my experience with fence boss is in relation to a unfortunate crossing of paths. I was cut off by one of there truck and trailer combinations, now that in itself is not really worthy of mention, but what ensued afterwards really calls to case the type of people the organization represents and or employs, see after being cut off by the driver, the vehicle stopped abruptly and then would not continue on, forcing me to have to pull into oncoming traffic to get around him. then to further aggravate the situation, starts going when I do start to go around him, and as if that wasn't enough, he then follows me into a parking lot to further escalate the situation with banter and verbal insults, to which I say ,not the smartest thing to do when you are towing around an 12ft billboard with all your advertising on it. Mistakes happen when we are driving, maybe you didn't see me or realize I was that close, but acting like a complete m[censored] afterwards is just the act of an immoral and irresponsible person, I can only imagine how someone with such attributes conducts themselves in the business world. Beware if you are considering employing the services of such an individual.

We paid in full for a privacy fence on October 1, 2019. We were told by Jamie who is the owner of fence boss that it would be done in six weeks. After about eight weeks she told us that they were behind and she would have it done before the end of the year. It is now January 2020 And she says we have to wait until the spring. I know a few other people who have dealt with the same situation and we just keep getting pushed farther and farther out. I have asked two times for a refund of our money but she states she cannot give the money back to us because she has already ordered our supplies. Six weeks have now turned into 17 weeks. It’s going to be even longer than that at this point since she states that they cannot start on it until spring

Please note, last summer before Ms. G needed her money refunded, she posted on Facebook about her sons stolen bike and that because they had just moved she could not purchase him another one. Fence Boss felt bad for him and bought him a new bike. We are a great company. It is also important to note that she is family so communications were initially very relaxed.

Every estimate and every invoice clearly state that time frames provided are simply estimates and backlogs can occur due to ground conditions not in our control. This customer got a puppy and then wanted a fence. When they got rid of the puppy they decided they no longer wanted the fence. However, our policy clearly states that refunds are not given if materials were already ordered because we cannot return the materials to manufacturers. When we informed Brittney G about the policy, which she never paid attention to on the estimates/invoices provided, she message back and said if materials were already ordered not to worry about a refund.

November and December brought inclement weather and holidays that slowed the job docket. The G start date was set for next week, we had not notified them because we wait as close as possible to the actual start date in case weather changes the schedule. On 1/20/2020 we were notified by someone affiliated with a low class social media page (referred to locally as the Jerry Springer show page) that she had written a post about Fence Boss. It started a chain event of comments where people we have never conducted business with were making terrible statements about our company. The page is followed by a massive number of people. Most are like Brittney and use the page to exact revenge on anyone who does not bend the their will. The page has been censored numerous times and even threatened with being shut down by Facebook because there is no way for victims of the page to defend themselves from the gross and hateful mob that often consumes most of the feed. We cannot even respond to the false allegations because then the hounds of social media hades crawl out of the woodwork to beat someone up even more.

Fence Boss has been advised to screen shot the comments that are easily proven fake and along with Brittney's post and the outline of actual events will be submitted for a review by our attorney for potential harassment and slander charges. He says social media is making it easier to prove slander. Ms. G is one who thinks it is okay to go on social media and rant and rave and make grossly inaccurate statements in order to bully others. In short, she is a bully who uses her temper to get her way.In this case, her post caused a whole lot of slander to unfold so I will let our attorney handle it once the post loses momentum. We want as many screenshots of false comments as possible.

We refunded her the full amount on 1/21/2020, something I was prepared to do when I originally informed her of our no refund policy (she is family, however mean), however, she said if the materials were ordered to go ahead with the fence. Customers like her are akin to "dodging a bullet" when you can get away from them. So, do with this what you must. But I have zero remorse where this girl is concerned. She is my husbands cousin and used social media and the Revdex.com to get her money back because she simply decided she no longer wanted a dog and therefore did not need a fence. She even told me they no longer needed the fence. She is dishonest, hateful, spiteful and very small. Let that be a part of the record. Because I am going to make sure there is a permanent and legal one. Businesses are getting ruined because people use social media hatefully, the way Ms. G did, and it is time businesses stand up for themselves and start fighting back.

I contracted Fence Boss to build a wooden privacy fence at my residential home. The series of events is listed below. Long story short it took 178 days to get the fence installed vs a quote of 42-56 days. Summary of timeline below. Due to the extreme delays I requested to review the final invoice as full price did not feel warranted. Was advised by Fence Boss that they would not discuss it with me.

7/3/2019 Final Quote given
7/5/2019 Email by Fence Boss acknowledged that company had a backlog, a lead time of 6-8 weeks communicated.
7/18/2019 Invoice for 50% down payment sent
7/19/2019 Payment processed
9/17/2019 Email sent from Robert to check status of fence install schedule
9/20/2019 Reply from fence boss stating they expect fence install will take place in October.
11/13/2019 Reply from Fence Boss stating that the number in the queue was not important, and there were only 4-5 jobs total. Expected post set to occur late next week or early the week after.
12/1/2019 Another email from Robert stating that he had marked the 4 corners of the fence, and provided a drawing with fence dimensions for the installer. Confirmed he would be out of town for 2 weeks returning on Dec 13th.
12/4/2019 Reply from Fence Boss stating Robert should "for sure" return to a post set and that I was on next weeks schedule. Asked if Robert would still be available by email.
12/20/2019 Email from Fence Boss asking if I would be home on Sat 12/21 for a post set.
12/28/2019 Reply from Fence Boss stating it was due to more than just weather. "Steam Rolling" economy was also to blame. Stated that the biggest fence company in Indianapolis experienced a 14 week backlog. Advised that her crew chief is experienced and will replace any damaged posts. Stated they would let Robert know if any additional delays.
1/6/2020 Email from Fence boss stating they rearranged their schedule and Robert's fence install would be conducted on tomorrow and Wed (1/7-1/8/2020)
1/13/2020 Fence installation completed

Every estimate and every invoice clearly states that weather and ground conditions are circumstances beyond our control and can cause a backlog. 30+ inches of rain in the spring followed by historic drought conditions (think of the farmers this year) made for a very difficult season. Customer purchased his fence and waited too long (we agree and apologized repeatedly) and for reasons beyond our control.

We did not get to install fence systems consistently until the rain stopped on 6/24/19. Additionally, heavy rain followed by drought makes the ground rock hard and almost every install this season was very difficult. When his fence was quoted in July we had not even fully realized the full impact of the weather/backlog. It was a nightmare season, unlike any experienced during 9 years in the industry.

Combine the historic weather events with a steam rolling economy and every contractor who works in the dirt with concrete was behind. We apologized repeatedly to every customer but this customer felt his suffering was notable and wants to force a discount. We are filing a property lien and will pursue the matter in small claims court.

While customer may have been forced to wait, his fence was installed and looks fantastic. Please note that he has no complaints with his fence. We do excellent work and are highly referred. We were just knocked flat by weather and economy factors that caused more than once customer to get frustrated with a long wait this year. Please see attached invoice/estimate for a review of the information provided to customers when quoting and finalizing the sale of a fence system.Again, we are sorry for the wait but we are pleased that customer has no complaints about the fence.

The customer demand that Fence Boss meet his final payment terms, rather than the agreed price, is declined. The customer should have presented us with his request. This approach was the wrong choice. Furthermore, no documents will be provided regarding a breakdown. The customer has been provided with the customary quotes and invoices.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 14089898, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

There are a few things that are alarming about the business's reply. One, they provided false documents to the Revdex.com. I have attached the actual invoice that I received on 7/18/2019, and the one received on 1/14/2019 when the job was finally completed. I did not receive an invoice like the one Jami provided to the Revdex.com until 1/21/2020 (which I did not accept). I have also attached the original email string with the quoting. As you can see the company recognized that they had a backlog, which is why they quoted an increased lead time of 6-8 weeks. Furthermore, in the response from the business they clearly state that "When his fence was quoted in July we had not even fully realized the full impact of the weather/backlog". This does not constitute the terms they are claiming, as this indicates that the issue was due to the company not being able to accurately assess their backlog which was already in place, and continued to quote and take on new customers with highly inaccurate lead time information. The weather from July 18th 2019 on wards was in no way historic with respect to fence installation.

With regards to the fence quality, it is par. Some things that I would have liked to have been done with a more attention to detail. I suspect it is similar quality to other fence companies. Either way, not worth a 6 month wait.

If the company is unwilling to divulge their profit margin, I recommend they make a reasonable offer. It is exceptionally unreasonable to expect a customer to pay full price on something that took 317-423% longer to receive that was communicated.

Regards,

Robert
