The terrible service I received by Mayflower (aka Mclaughlin Transportation Systems) spurred me to write my first Yelp review
The initial process was smoothThe quote was higher than others I had received, but due to the generally good feedback, I went with this company anywayThe company loaded my belongings into a container on a truck, and the movers were absolutely fantasticEverything was in good shape - my belongings were picked up on 11/as scheduled, and I was promised by people (Marissa, who provided the estimate, and Heather, my move coordinator) that my belongings would be delivered and unloaded 11/
I called Heather almost every day to ensure we were on trackShe always told me we wereCome the day before my delivery date (the 11th, delivery for the 12th), I was told that my belongings would indeed arrive in NC morning of the 12th and be delivered that day as plannedI am told I would be contacted later that day or the next day with the delivery timeframe
The 12th rolls around, and I am not getting any calls for the deliveryI call Heather, who tells me she will find out where things are at and call me backhours later, no callI call again around 4:30pm and am only able to get in touch with MarthaMartha is helpful, but informs me that my belongings cannot be delivered until the next dayShe says I can file a claim for $for a day late deliveryHeather still does not call me, but I get an email the next day with info to contact customer service for the claimA bit off putting that she never called
After being told by multiple people that I was guaranteed delivery on 11/12, I was extremely upset at the delayI had to go into my new place of employment the morning of the 13th, and thus had to go spend $to buy shoes, a dress shirt, and slacks as I work in a professional environmentIn addition, I had to spend $to get a hotel room for the night - about the cheapest rate available - otherwise I would have had to sleep on the floor of my new apartment with no blankets, pillows, or anythingSo due to the error and delay on the company's end, I was out over $(including other smaller purchases I had to make due to the delay.)
I call customer service as Heather sent in the email, and was told that the max I could receive for a late delivery was $per day, which is true according to the agreementHowever, that is the minimum level of service the company legally had to provide - certainly not good service in any wayIn addition, the rep told me I had to send an email to start a claim, and that my coordinator should have started itI email Heather again, and she states that I should have been able to do it over the phone - but does get one submitted for me
I did not hear from the company after thatI got a check in the mail about a week later for $
Overall, I paid more money than I would have elsewhere to work with this company, who delivered my belongings late, were difficult to contact when I actually needed them, made me do excessive running around to file a claim, and in the end only covered a small portion of the expense I incurred due to their logistical errors, not to mention the time I spent, and the inconvenience
On the other hand, the movers who loaded my belongings were truly fantastic - that part was actually a very positive experience
Please, if it is possible at all for you, do not use this company

Do yourself a favor and hire anyone but this office of Mayflower TransitI had a terrible experience on every levelLack of communication between account manager, dispatch and driverMultiple handling of my belongings after I was assured that it would be handled only onceA disrespectful and demeaning driver upon pickup, and at times took an aggressive toneHad to stop the truck in the driveway as they were pulling out to have them pick up their lunch trash that was in the front lawn
I talked with the account manager about the entire situation, he understood but had no power to do anything but listenTalked with the owner's wife who handles customer relationsshe listened and understood but did absolutely nothing to even attempt to remedy the situationActually, I really don't think she even caredThe entire operation out of this location from my perspective is inefficient, mismanaged and their drivers/movers have no business dealing with the public
