Review: 05/2013 I met with [redacted] and he agreed to be my attorney as payment he was to receive 25% of any awards I received from Workman's Comp. The only other out of pocket fees that I would incur based on the contract were extra paperwork, mailing and such. He never had to go to a hearing with a judge although he did go with me to a hearing with the defense.

after a little over a year, the defense finally settled the case and it was closed. However a few months ago I received a call Karen Trejo who is a assistant to [redacted], who asked me if I wanted to reopen the case due to additional loss of earning capacity. I said yes and she said that a vocational consultant would be calling and interviewing me. I was also told to visit another IME Dr. [redacted] to get another evaluation. At no time during either of the calls was a fee mentioned and due to the contract I had with the [redacted] Law Firm 25% being already being deducted from my awards.

On 10/23/2014 I met with Dr. [redacted] and the report was sent to the [redacted] Law firm. then on 11/28/2014 I received a call from [redacted] who conducted the interview.

Then out of the blue some time around 12/9/2014 I received a call from [redacted] to tell me that I would have to pay $500.00 for the report that [redacted] had done. I wasn't sure at the time because I was under the assumption that the 25% was covering it. after conversing with [redacted] I agreed to pay the 500.00 on or before 01/15/2015 they agreed.

However a day before the hearing in which I would receive the award I just received an email from [redacted], first urging me to pay the $500.00 tomorrow when I show up for the hearing and then vaguely alluding that I owed more! when I pressed him on the issue he said that I also owed them for the visit to Dr. [redacted]l which I was never told about. and he also said that more than likely more cost would be incurred in order to receive any settlement from[redacted] comp.Desired Settlement: I have not received a bill referencing the visit to Dr [redacted] but [redacted] said that I owed it.

I was willing to pay the 500.00 for [redacted] vocational consulting but now I feel like I am being taken advantage of...

Also I should not have to pay for an examination that I was never told of, in advance that the cost would come from me.

This law firm is straight up an honest, client minded law firm. I was hurt at work and met [redacted] for a consultation. After reviewing my case, [redacted] informed me that after everything he had reviewed looked straight forward, and I could handle this myself without the help of himself. (How many lawyers tell you that it is not necessary to hire them to save you the money if you don't really need them) After approximately five months after his consultation I contacted [redacted] about a couple of questions pertaining my injury. We exchanged approximately ten emails, with [redacted] coaching me on what to do. All this time [redacted] had spent with me I asked him to send me a bill for his time. [redacted] replied with, THERE IS NO CHARGE. To me that is pure proof that this firm is not about the money and all about the people. [redacted] didn't have to help me and he did anyhow.
