Ferretto Eldercare Consulting Reviews (%countItem)

I initially contacted Ferretto Eldercare Consulting, Inc. to schedule a FREE consultation so the company could learn more about my husband's health situation and to determine the best facility for his needs. I spoke to them over the phone to SCHEDULE the FREE initial consultation. A representative from their company arrived at my home on November 22, 2019 for what we believed was the FREE consulation. I then received an invoice dated November 30, 2019 in the amount of $743.75 of which $393.75 was a charge for "initial visit". I contacted the company owner to dispute that portion of the invoice as it was my understanding the initial visit was the FREE consulation. She then informed me that the "free consultation" was my initial phone call to "learn about your needs and offer our best recommendations for ways we may serve you". I feel that it was very misleading that an initial phone call to schedule an appointment and to get some basic background information on my husband to research what facility would best serve his health needs would be considered a "free consultation". I requested the cost of the $393.75 "initial visit" be refunded back to me but the owner declined. I feel that when I first spoke to them that they should have informed me that was the "free consultation". Extremely misleading, especially to senior citizens in a time of stress and worry.

Desired Outcome

Billing Adjustment Refund of the $393.75 "initial visit" charge.

Re: Case # XXXXXXXX
Dear Ms.,
I appreciate the opportunity to share information as well as documentation regarding care management services provided to the client, as requested by his wife, as his responsible party. I received the first and only complaint from Revdex.com on 2/19/20 via fax.
It is, and has been our policy since 1/2/08, to offer a free phone consultation to anyone who calls Ferretto Eldercare Consulting, Inc. for information regarding our care management services. This is very standard in the industry of Aging Life Care Management. A free assessment visit has never been offered to anyone in 12 years of business.
This time via phone assists us in identifying the best possible manner in which to serve the client, by gathering information about the client. This includes reason for calling, goals for services, as well as recent medical status and recent functional changes. We also then share information about how our services work, including fees. We then send service forms for completion, via either e-mail or snail mail. This explanation was offered by Ms. Rynbrandt during the conversation with the client's responsible party. The forms were mailed to the client's payor/ responsible party.
This free time via phone usually entails approximately 30 minutes or so. I have submitted the handwritten notes from Jen *** a seasoned care manager from my team, who connected with the caller on 11/18/19.
It has never been our policy to offer free home visit assessments. I assume that the responsible party may have mis-heard, or misunderstood this. I have also attached her initialed fee schedule, signed service agreement, as well as completed credit card form, which led us to believe that she expected to pay for our professional services.
Her returned and completed/ signed forms also indicated that she wished to proceed with formal services.
Ms. Donna Lansman, MA, visited the client in his home, and performed an assessment on 11/22/19. See attached invoice for services rendered during the month of November, 2019. Additional services included research regarding the client's needs, and communication with the family. The invoice was mailed to the responsible party. The credit card information was then charged on 12/10/19.

I sincerely regret that the client's spouse feels that we mislead her, and that she was promised a free service that she did not receive. I completely understand and respect how stressful her situation had been at that time of her call. That is the reason why she called us, at the suggestion of friend who used another professional care manager in Montgomery County.
The information provided is 100% accurate and truthful. Professional services were performed, and fees were billed and paid. The client's spouse is asking for something that has never been given to anyone in the history of my company.
Respectfully,
Many Fath ***o

Customer Response • Mar 01, 2020

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
1. Their website says: "Worried about someone you care for? Schedule a free consultation. We'd like to learn more about your situation and your concerns. Then we can give you a better understanding of the ways we can help. Give us a call at XXX-XXX-XXXX, or complete the form below".

At no point was it ever explained that the initial phone call to SCHEDULE the free consultation was in fact, the free consultation. That is very misleading, especially during a stressful time for seniors trying to help an elderly family member.

2. With regard to the "free consultation" being on the phone as "very standard in the industry of Aging In Life Care Management", that is not accurate. As a matter of fact, my daughter and I visited the 4 assisted living facilities that we gave to *** Eldercare on our own, NONE that were recommended by Ferretto Eldercare, and all of those IN PERSON visits/consultations were at no charge. I gave the names of the 4 Assisted Living Facilities (***) to their representative. You would think that they should be suggesting facilities to us. I did the initial work, value was not received.

3. Ferretto Eldercare in their response said "It has never been our policy to offer free home visit assessments".

Then why was that NEVER explained to us? Again, extremely misleading, and in my opinion, bordering on deception.

4. Ferretto Eldercare in their response also said that they "attached the initial fee schedule, signed service Agreement, as well as a completed credit card form which led us to believe that she expected to pay for our professional services".

That is true and we would have paid for their services once we felt that their agency could fulfill our needs, AFTER the free consultation. It is not reasonable to expect, especially for a senior citizen going through a stressful time, to think that an initial phone call would be considered "a free consultation".

5. Furthermore, Ferretto Eldercare indicated in their response that "her returned and completed/signed form also indicated that she wished to proceed with formal services".

That is correct. We wanted to use them to find information on assisted living facilities, but never was it explained to us that the "free consultation" was the initial phone call. Again, extremely misleading.

In closing, the issue is not that we are disputing the fees for services that they would render. The issue is that the website nor their representative EVER explained to us that the initial phone call to SCHEDULE a consultation was the "free consultation". After the initial visit they made 4 phone calls (to the faciities that WE gave them) "researched" those facilities and billed us a total of $743.75, of which $393.75 was "initial visit". We are not disputing the November 26, 27 and 28th services rendered of phone calls/research that they made based on the names that WE gave them; what we are disputing is the $393.75 charge for "initial visit".

I feel to take advantage of an elderly woman who is doing her best to take care of her elderly, disabled husband is unconscionable and very unfair and I hope that Ferretto Eldercare does the right thing by reimbursing me the $393.75 initial visit charge.
