This is our response to the
complaint filed by Mr*** Mr*** called into our business to inquire about us checking out his vehicleIn talking on the phone with our owner, Timothy Fettig, Mr*** indicated that he suspected that the issue with his vehicle was possibly the ignition switch had failedOur owner agreed to diagnose the vehicle for Mr*** if he was able to get the vehicle towed to our shopMr*** never came to our shop as he lived out of the areaAs such, all work was agreed to verbally over the phoneAs such, no paperwork exists for an agreed upon quoteThe vehicle was towed to our shop and due to a busy schedule we were unable to work on the vehicle for a weekBefore the vehicle was towed to our shop, Mr*** himself had disassembled the covers of the steering columnIn a follow up call before the vehicle arrived at our shop, Mr*** had indicated that he had attempted to repair the ignition switch himselfIt was implied that Mr*** had installed a new ignition switch himself and the vehicle still would not startWhen we were finally able to get the vehicle in our building to work on it, we noticed and aftermarket GPS device installed with the capability to remotely disable the vehicleAfter some research as to how to bypass this device, the vehicle still wouldn't startIt was at this point that we contacted Mr*** again and clarified whether he had replaced the ignition switchAt this point he indicated that he did not replace the switch, but had just taken it loose and inspected it visuallyAfter that call, we ordered a new ignition switch and installed it the next dayThe vehicle still would not turn over so we removed the new switch and reinstalled the old one and returned the new part to the parts supplier as it was not the issue and therefore not neededAt this point, we tested more parts in the starting system such as the starter relay and we checked all the fusesAfter all those parts tested as good, we started to suspect that the starter was possibly bad or the wiring to the starter was badThe only way to test the starter was to remove itOn Mr***'s vehicle, this is a multi hour process Due to our continuing busy schedule, we were only able to work on Mr***'s vehicle between other scheduled workBy the time we were able to arrive at the point of removing and testing the starter, the vehicle had been at our shop for weeksAt this point, Mr*** came to our shop visually agitated and said that we were taking too long so he was going to have the vehicle towed to another shopWe accepted this but asked him to pay for some of the time we had in the vehicle for diagnosisDespite the many hours we had in testing and diagnosing his vehicle, we only requested that he pay for hour at our shop rate of $per hourBecause of his agitated state, we requested that he pay the $in cashHe became more agitatedIt was at this point that we called the local police to come and watch over the situation and work as a mediatorWe asked that Mr*** not enter our establishment anymore because of his attitudeThe town's police chief is the officer who respondedWith his assistance, Mr*** paid the requested $and a towing company came to remove the vehicle from the property In his complaint to the Revdex.com, Mr*** claimed that we charged him for diagnosis that we did not performI can attest that more diagnosis work was performed than he was charged forI personally had about hours of work in his vehicleMr*** also claimed that we lied about the parts that we installedWe are willing to provide the receipt to prove that we purchased and subsequently returned the parts when it was determined that they were not neededHe also stated that antifreeze was leaking out of his vehicle as it was loaded on the tow truckThis was correct as on Mr***'s vehicle, the removal of the intake is necessary to access the starter and there is engine coolant running through the intake manifoldMr*** had his vehicle taken to another business while were partially through the process of accessing the starter and had already removed the engine coolant lines running to the intake manifoldMr*** also states that upon a trip to our location that his vehicle was in the parking lot covered in snow and untouchedIt was in our driveway at that point because we only had usable stalls to work in our shop at the time and we had to get scheduled vehicles in both of them at that pointOur shop works on *** vehicles on the weekend as that is the only time that the vehicles can be down for repairs so they take priorityIt was on a weekend that Mr*** had witnessed his vehicle in our driveway and as we live in the mountains, the snow on his vehicle was from a small storm the previous dayI believe that I have addressed all the issues raised in the complaint filed by Mr***We apologize that he was dissatisfied with the service he received at our businessOur business has been open for years and this is the first Revdex.com complaint filed due to work we performed
