Field Plumbing & Heating

On August 14, 2013 I had a furnace installed, I was declined warranty on January 4th 2019 (5 years and 4 months)
I accepted a proposal for a furnace and A/C install from Field Plumbing & Heating, in August of 2013. The business is located at 520 Fairford St. W. Moose Jaw Saskatchewan S6H1W3. I was converting a 1960 era home to a new heat/cool system. The quote was 9158$ plus GST and a gas permit (This did not include electrical). The system was installed, and to be brief, I had trouble all along the way, until now. Little things, costly little things. I was wondering if I got myself a lemon. The furnace was way over powered and really noisy. I asked for a 2 stage model and a powerful A/C plant. *** The bill tendered to me on August 29, 2013 was paid in full right away on September 9th, 2013. The repairs done along the way probably totaled near 2000$.

When Field finished the install back in 2013, I tried to register my serial numbers for warranty, and it failed every time I tried. I called *** and he said he would look after it for me. It would seem, this was either never done, or wasn't doable in the first place.

The furnace as I said was a 2 stage model. Field installed this huge furnace with a single stage thermostat ?? why? This basically stops the second stage from working. So it was for all this time, without my knowledge.

So as I was saying; I enabled the second stage and observed the furnace triggering a high limit. After 6 minutes, the whole furnace would shut down and restart in second stage again, only to repeat over and over.
Not being pleased with the service along the way with Field I turned to another company for help.

The competitor found some installation errors that caused a expensive problem to fix. The combustion chamber was tilted toward the back. This is not good for moisture build up, and is 100% installation error, also the A/C coil was only covering half of the plenum access so air was going by the coil and not being cooled. As you can determine your self these are power and gas consuming issues.
The competitor said he could try to get the parts he needs from the local distributor responsible for warranty claims. I was refused warranty. The local distributor said, that he didn't sell the item, and that it was ordered from USA. The distributor didn't want to warranty a unit that he didn't sell. The part would cost over 2200$ out of my pocket. The competitor advised that even if the part was installed properly this time I still wouldn't leave me warranty. In the end they advised to replace the furnace. This makes sense as the furnace was 2700 when it was new. A new furnace would be just a bit more, and would have warranty.

The competitor *** removed and installed me a new 2 stage *** furnace. As stated above, they discovered various installation errors and workmanship errors. My new furnace was installed for 4700$. Its a 45,000 BTU unit. Getting heat and A/C in this house has costed me a fortune for no reason. The new furnace is twice as efficient and no where near as noisy.
