Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/07/23) */
Contact Name and Title: *** *** \ Admin
Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXX
Contact Email: ***@fielderelectricalservices.com
Most of what *** *** has stated is accurateWhat is missing though, is that the contract we had did not
call for us to trace out existing wiringThe pull chain light and the switch leg were existingFielder Electric proposal stated "Repair or replace pull chain light at panel and check all connections using existing power." On the initial visit (6/26/14), the electrician took the pull chain fixture down, checked the connections, pigtailed wires properly, replaced pull chain light and light was working properly when we left7/7/Mr *** reported the brand new fixture we installed was not working7/9/the electrician made a second visitAt that time, the electrician found that the pull chain light along with the two other basement lights were on an existing switch at the top of the stairsNeither MrOr Mrs*** told our estimator or electrician that the fixture was switchedOur contract did not state in any way we would be tracing out existing wiring to find out where it goes
It's unfortunate for both of us that this light fixture had a switch that neither of us knew aboutIt is our contention that we work in thousands of homes each yearIf an owner doesn't know how the fixtures turn off and on, how would weSpecifically, this would require tracing existing wiring out throughout the home
Fielder Electric waived the trip charge of $and only invoiced for the minimum one hour labor charge for this return visitOur initial work was completed as per contractWe do not feel we mislead this client in any wayWe simply provided a service and wish to be paid for what we did
If additional documentation (copy's of paperwork) are desired by the Revdex.com to resolve this complaint, please call us and it can be faxed over
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 14, 2014/09/09) */
This is not resolved they have sent me another bill this time for $they added a $interestI told them there shouldn't have been a extra charge as this should have done the first timeThis is not my mistake and I don't feel I should be responsible for the extra chargethey wired it that way I didn'tWhy are they wanting me to pay again for something that should have been done the first time
Final Consumer Response /* (3000, 20, 2014/10/03) */
10/17/-Mediator called consumer and left message with name and phone number
10/17/- I will talk with my wife and call back
10/17/- I accept offer, will mail letter to Fielder Electric
Final Business Response /* (1000, 21, 2014/10/03) */
10/10/14: Our case file for complaint is locked up, so someone will call back next weekMediator left name, number and extension, and time to call back
10/17/14: Received message from *** *** at Fielder electric (company)
10/17/14: As part of a contract with the consumer, we agreed to replace the chain to a light, but did not agree to trace the power lines to and from the lightThe consumer was aware of thisThe consumer did not tell us that the light was connected to a switchTherefore, we had no way to know that the light was attached to a switchThe light was working when we leftWhen we left, the consumer used the switch, and subsequently the light stopped workingHe called us out to service the lightWhen there, we found out that the light did not stop working, rather, the consumer merely turned it off with the switchThere was no problem with us, and no problem caused by our installationWhile we charge a minimum $for a trip, we waived $and charged the consumer $However, I am willing to offer to zero out their accountIn fact, I will do it todayHowever, I would like a written acknowledgment from the consumer that there was no error on our part - it was not our fault that light stopped working, because (1) the switch was not brought to our attention and (2) we were not contracted to trace the electric lines, so we couldn't have known about the switch."
10/17/14: Mediator left message for *** *** that consumer accepted her offer to zero out account if he mailed a letter to her

We have been using Fielder Electric since we bought our house (yrs), and will not use another company Matt, the owner, comes out promptly to assess your needs and give a bid He has kept me from overspending, and streamlined several of my projects I trust them completely

I typically don't write poor reviews on businesses, but I'm going to right now...

I've used Fielder Electric in the past once prior to this. They put some new romex in to replace knob and tube wiring in an older home. It was a two day job and they did great. No issues.

However my last experience was significantly worse. I had a number of small electrical projects around the house I never seemed to get to myself - wanted 3 new lights installed. Some messy wiring in my garage redone. Also wanted a whole house fan to be wired and installed. Note for the whole house fan, I had already purchased a fan that I'd intended to install myself. I'd guess a day's worth of work for 2 people.

Matt, the owner, came out on 2/10/16. Nice guy, but said I wouldn't be able to use the fan I'd picked out. I'd need to get a different model that would work for my attic location. Darnit! That fan cost $350 and was $100 to ship to me! Well shoot so I send the darn thing back and pay an additional $100 to have it shipped back to the company. After receiving a quote of about $1k to do the job, excluding materials, they let me know which fan I SHOULD HAVe purchased - same fan...Sure wish I hadn't spent $200 in shipping costs for aboslutely no reason at this point.

I email the office now to let them know Matt made a mistake that cost $200. Not really expecting them to eat any of the cost themselves, just informing them. Also I asked for a one line item to be added to the contract that no joists be removed during the installation of the fan.

10 days later they apologize about the mistake in the fan, but no response keeping the structure of the house intact and up to building codes.

Additional 10 days later they follow up by cancelling the contract they originally offered me...

---

Long story short, this company cost me $200 because of incompetence. Then took nearly 3 weeks to follow up and say they're cancelling their original contract. Back to the drawing board and looking for new contractors.
