Finesse Construction Reviews (13)

I had written the review about this company to warn others from having this company to work on their project. My review was deleted from Revdex.com review board without any reason.

Just wonder Revdex.com is neutral or it is aligned with the contractors. I have had a bad experience with this company working on my property. Their staff have little or no experience to get

the job done. No city permits even the work required, vandalized the job site and refused to cooperate with customers... Seems to me when the contract was signed between you and the company.

They are the one to set the game. The work they did was substandard, there is no communication... They changed the scope of work and try to cut corner. If this company currently working

on your project .... Beware and try to following the scope of work that you have with them. In my experience, They vandalized my building, cutting the wires, damaging the AC and perform the cut corner

work in which it result in City stop order. We have to find another contractor to rework and undo what they did. They finally placed a fraudulent LIEN on our property... Hopefully, this reviews will help others

to avoid the mistake that I currently had had with them. This is NO GOOD COMPANY. If I can have a better word to describe how bad this company is, I will. This company workmanship is terrible

and it is beyond any bad word that I have in mind.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have dete**ined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The paint had some touch up to be done (THIS HAS ALSO BEEN TAKEN CARE OF) - we sub contracted our painting to a long time local painting company. All they do is painting. The owner had sent a person to inspect the property before we were completed and gave us a list of touch ups before we said we were a 100% complete. We all know touch up are done at the very end. These have been completed since then.  [redacted] the contractor  told me on 2/20/15 the work was complete and I sent a cleaning lady on 2/22/15 to clean the house and cost me $130.  I have proof to show that he said it was done. On 2/23/15  I sent my agent to look at the house so he can list it that week and that is  when I learned  about their unacceptable workmanship. I did contact them and send them pictures. They said they will repair and a week later they told they took care of all the repairs. When I sent my inspection guy with [redacted] license we found out they did not take care of the items of the repairs that they said they took care of . I contact them again and that is when I had to file a complaint with Revdex.com.Drywall has different textures/ not repaired- this is an older home and there are some inconsistencies with the texture. Before we started, we askedthe realtor if we could re texture the entire home and she said that would not fit in the budget. We only charged the owner for one drywall repair. by the laundry door and that was completed with texture to match that particular wall. She was not charged to retexture the walls or for multiple.   YOU CHARGED $3500 FOR PAINT FOR 1400 SQ FT HOME. YOU NEVER INFO**ED ME WHAT YOU DISCUSSED WITH THE AGENT. WHEN YOU GOT HIRED THE AGENT WAS NOT WORKING FOR ME. YOU HAD OBLIGATION TO ME TO LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU DISCUSSED WITH THE AGENT. YOU CHARGED $3500 FOR IT. THE COST OF PAINT, PRIME, TEXTURE FOR THE 1400 SQ FT HOME IS $1700. YOU KNOW IT.drywall repairs. The AGENT who introduce me to this company was not working for me at the time I hired Finesse Construction. I let them know that and my communication was with the contractor directly. I added more items that need to be taken care of that the agent did not recommend. I made that clear to the contractor. PER INVOICE YOU CHARGED FOR DRY WALL REPAIRS, NOT JUST ONE DRY WALL.PS: note that the house had multiple colors throughout and lots of grafity which required 2 coats of primer and 2 top coats of paint in order to get rid of it. That was explained and understood prior commencement of work and signing of agreement of scope.  THAT'S WHY I HIRED YOU, BECAUSE THE HOUSE IS OLD AND NEEDED WORK. The charge for the paint is $3500 for 1400 sq ft home. The invoice does not state for one coat or contractor did not advise the home need 2 coats of prime and 2 coats of paint. When I hire a professional contractor who charged $3500 for 1400 sq ft home I expect a good job. Bathroom grout is orange- it is not orange. I believe the color is butter cream. we had to replace a cracked tile and they grouted a little too soon and the reaction with thinset made color change. This has been taken care of as well. Uneven floors and broken tiles- she has pointed out one chipped tile. This may have been from the cleaners but wither way it has been replaced since then. (TAKEN CARE OF).Carpets- the carpet is new and the pad is new. This is not top dollar carpet or pad.  She was not charged for anything but basic. Painted over bad siding- there are some areas of siding that are beginning to age at the very bottom next to the ground but to replace that would have added another $2000 to the original budget and again the realtor said not to do anything to the exterior except paint. The owner signed the contract knowing we were not doing anything besides exterior paint and she was only charged for exterior paint, AS AGREED UPON CONTRACT. The exterior paint was added after the original bid and invoice. I asked the contractor to paint the exterior. I did not know about the damage siding. As a professional construction contractor, he had to let me know about the condition of the siding and I would rather repair the siding than paint the exterior. I hired them for their expertise. I could have hired a handyman to do the job they did. CHEAPER.  The work they did is not professional.  I have pictures to proveVINYL(  NOT BAD) backsplash- this item was added at the end of the project and the owner picked out the product from Home Depot. We have documentation toprove this.  We simply went off her orders and purchased and installed the product. If she wanted specifically glass she should have stated that. We have since replaced the backsplash with another one of her choices and OWNER was happy. (TAKEN CARE OF). I GAVE THEM AN IDEA OF THE COLOR  FOR THE BACKSPLASH NOT VINYL OR PLASTIC.  THEY COULD HAVE PUT  IN MOSAIC GLASS OR TILE  THE SAME COLOR PER CONTRACT THEY HAVE TO PUT GLASS MOSAIC GLASS.  NOT VINYL WHY DID THEY CHOOSE THE VINYL?  BECAUSE I WILL NEVER FIND OUT BECAUSE I LIVE IN CA.  They don’t have ETHICS.this is glass                          this vinyl The cost of the project was 28,000. This includes a complete interior demo, new kitchen with granite and stainless steel appliances, 2 new bathrooms, new flooring (over 900 sq ft of tile), all new light fixtures, fans etc. this is not out of line.  USED THE CHEAPEST QUALITLY AND CHEAPEST MATERIAL. PRICE IS OUT OF LINE. LOOK PICTURES BELOW. FEW OF MANY I HAVEWe have tried multiple times to make this customer happy and we encouraged her to meet with us in person at the end of the job to do a walkthru but she has not left CA.   She is only getting her info from the listing agent. We have explained that she was only charged for items that we completed and that if she wants other items done that were not in the scope to let us know ie.. re-texture, wood siding replacement etc.  THE PROBLEM WITH THIS COMPANY IS THAT I LIVE  IN CA. THEY THOUGHT I WILL JUST PAY THEM THE FINAL PAYMENT WITHOUT INSPECTING THE PROPERTY. THEY THOUGHT THEY WILL GET AWAY WITH THAT. I HAVE A LICENSED CONTRACTOR WHO KNOWS ABOUT THE BUSINESS OF CONTSTRUCTION NOT AGENT WHO INSPECTING THE PROPERTY. I DON'T NEED TO BE IN AZ TO INSPECT. I HAVE SOMEONE WHO KNOW MORE THAN ME. THAT IS VALUABLE.  I SENT THEM ALL THE  PICTURES AND THEY HAVE THE PICTURES. THEY THOUGHT THEY WILL GET AWAY WITH THAT BECAUSE I LIVE IN CA. UNETHICAL COMPANY. LOOKTHE PICTURES BELOW. Regards,

In our response to customer complaint  ([redacted]):NOTE: all items we have been contracted to do (per our scope agreement) have been taken care of and been completed to satisfaction.WE were first brought on to this project by the owners realtor, when we perfo**ed a...

walk-thru the realtor started with the info**ation that theowner only had 20k to upgrade the house and that we needed to  spread it out as much as possible. Only bid the necessary items that she(realtor) pointedout. We agreed but once the walk thru was complete, we did mention a list of items that should be addressed. We were then contacted by the owner ([redacted]) who lives in California. She stated that she fired the realtor but still wanted us to do the work. She thenmade some adjustments to our bid and returned the signed contract. Once we received a deposit we went over finishes almost daily until the end of the project.Below is a response/rebuttal to each commend in her statement.Cabinets are used- the cabinets are not used and were built here in Arizona. Our cabinet maker did make a few mistakes but we agreedto repair them. (THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF). When his repairs were made our company told subcontractor they are notacceptable and he is currently building new ones, which the owner is aware of.Cheap blinds and ceiling fans-the owner was given 2 options for this basic (mini blinds- aluminum- per invoice) or upgraded (2" Faux). She choose the basic and we have documentation to prove it. The fans and blinds material came to $472 plus tax leaving us around $300 to pick up the material, have it custom cut, and to install. The installationis done from a latter so I don’t think the price is anywhere out of line. Issues per complaint:1) Roof leak in one of the units- Finesse response: we have apologized multiple times to the Owner in regards to not responding to his emails. unfortunately his emails were all falling in my junk mail and I was not able to see anything coming in. I never got...

a phone call from the Owner either in regards to the issue. I have, since, spoken to the Owner directly and have asked that he call me directly on my cell phone when any issues arise in the future so I can remedy promptly. I have also explained the email situation and have since added his email to my system so it wont kick it to Junk Mail again.I have been in touch with [redacted] and his property manager [redacted] in regards to the roof leak and it has been taken care of Promptly. the leak was coming in from the Exhaust Cap/Duct  which was bent and/or slightly open and water was coming in from the duct down into the vent (no water damage was present in the unit). Tenant is happy and knows we cured the issue within 30 minutes of arrival. We have also gottenemail response from [redacted] and/or [redacted] (manager) thanking us for taking care of the issue. This issue has been resolved.2)Third AC Damage: Finesse Response: we have performed work on the property months before the AC froze up. Normally when you damage an AC line (as per [redacted] pictures) the line will leak out freon within a couple of days. The corrective method of repair would be to recharge the AC Unit and NOT replace the AC Unit. Which would be a charge of approx $400.There are many reasons Finesse would not be to blame for AC damage includingnot limited to:             a. amount of time it took the Freon to leak was months after finished product. Normally it takes a couple of days with such a size of hole, for the freon to leak out completely. Why did we only hear from the Owner Months after we were completed with the work? Keep in mind at time of completion only 1 unit was vacant per previous owner and it was around summer (project date - May 5th 2014).            b. at completion of project we inspected the roof with current Owner and no issues including AC leakage were found. (there was only 1 empty unit which we found a leak later, mentioned by [redacted], which Finesse remedied promptly without questions).            c. the pictures of the damage to the copper line (by [redacted]) does not match how a roofer would damage the line. The picture has a break on top of the line close to the AC unit, which when tearing off a roof, mainly around the AC units, roofers use a shovel in a very low (sweeping) angle which would damage the line more to the sides and not on very top. If we kicked the line it wouldnt have a hole on the pipe either, it would just be slightly bent, which most units on the building, if not all, are already bent from years of AC work/maintenance.            d. there is no overview picture showing the damaged unit on the picture was actually on his building, only close up shots of the copper line damaged.            e. our contract indicates our warranty work will not commence until we are paid in full for amounts owed. As of today we have not been paid and therefore there is currently no warranty on the building for our work per our contract.            f. our warranty per our contract with previous Owner is non-transferable           Even though we are under no current contractual obligations with [redacted] we have gone above and beyond to help him with any leaks and issues and plan on continuing to do so in order to strengthen our business relation for future projects. We want to make sure we provide the best customer service and resolve and miscommunication issues in order a future relation with [redacted] and his company. We will be more than glad to help [redacted] with any issues with our workmanship, to be the best of our abilities and will work hard to better our customer service response time in order to avoid future issues. IF there are and questions/concerns please feel free to contact me at anytime directly. Thanks much for your time,[redacted]Finesse Construction LLC

Hi Marie,We have been in continuous communication with the client and have made sure we got back with her in regards to every issue (per our contract) she has notified us about. As of now we have taken care of all her punch items and made sure to take pics of it for future needs.Although there are 1 or 2 issues she states she needs done, which are not part of our contract. One being the texturing of the entire house, which would have costed a lot of money, that she didn’t have to spend on the project. The other being the rotted siding which was pointed out to her and she opted not to replace it.As of now we are meeting the registrar of contractor onsite for inspection of our work on April 28th.We have notified the client to allow for access of the property, which she has placed on lockbox a couple of weeks ago and would not allow us onsite access any longer. We have been tried to go above and beyond to make sure she is pleased with the finished product and will continue to do so if the registrar of contractors tells us to.We have sent you the contract and can provide communication documents to show our commitment to customer service. Please advise if you need anything further.

Regards,

I would highly recommend Finesse Construction . Mike B[redacted] was very straight forward . I received a bid with in a few days. The work was preformed very professionally and with good quality . We had a flood during the heavy rain in Sept of 2014 . Mike took quick action as we were Holmeless , it was really amazing to see it all come together. We walked into the home on the 10th of Sept it had 3 inches of water. I received bids and by October 1st we had selected Finesse construction , five weeks later we were moving into our newly constructed home.

We are very thankful for the recommendation of Finesse.

Finesse Construction has handled many projects for me and my clients over the years. As a principal I have hired Finesse to do large and small projects from full renovation to patching some leaky roofs, they have always done an exemplary job. As a Development manager that has managed over 4.5 MM square feet of office and 20 K units of multifamily, I have hired Finesse construction and would hire them again. As a commercial real estate broker I have recommended Finesse Construction to my clients to handle small "punch list" repairs after closing escrow to bidding large tenant improvement or redevelopment projects and have gotten very positive reports from those clients.

I like to itemize categorize when reviewing companys so you'll see a list of things below, but i;d like to say when our business was struggling because of a negative experience with a previous construction company not only did these guys step up and help us resolve the problem but we were able to make money on the project as a whole.

Heres my list of positives that finesse brings to the table.

Finesse construction is dependable meets deadlines, is responsible, is reliable, always successful is efficient.

Adaptability: can perform a variety of duties, handles many situations with ease, is comfortable with change

People Skills: is very cooperative, works in harmony with others, adds to a positive environment

Personal Qualities: management has an even temperament, avoids confrontations, handles stress well, stays calm under high-pressure situations, is sincere, has composure under dire circumstances

Dedication: Shows pride in job, displays loyalty and honesty, perseveres and achieves goals for clients

Creativity: welcomes new ideas, is willing to change, develops new ideas and strategies, is not bothered by ambiguity

Organizational Skills: has a systematic method, gets the job done, highly organized, excels at planning, can distinguish between productive and nonproductive tasks.

Those are some of the things I enjoyed about working with this company I highly recommend them.

Review: Finesse provided a roof on a property that we own in [redacted]. The installation of the roof caused extensive damage to the property. Upon completion of the roof, the property was subjected to a typical storm. During the storm event, the new roof failed. That failure created extensive damage in two units that were completely destroyed due to water running into the units. In addition to this, the roofer working for finesse damage three AC units on the roof by crimping the copper lines to the units. The company did repair all of the water damage to the two rental units and did replace two of the AC units. Unfortunately the third unit which was damaged was not identified until the unit that they were repairing was rented. At that time, the third AC unit froze up due to a lack of Freon. The cause of this damage was another broken copper line for the Freon. The line was damaged by the roofer. When we went to find the damage we found that the roofer had covered the broken line with pitch from the roofing process. We requested that Finesse pay for the cost of the third unit and the cost of the fan coil associated to the unit as both were both destroyed when the Freon ran out on the unit due to the damaged line. In addition to this we have found another hole in the roof caused by the fact that the roofer did not properly install a boot around a pipe penetration on the roof. I was in contact with Finesse until late October when they quit returning calls or responding to our requests. As it stands right now we cannot get them to respond to the AC unit or the roof leak issue. The last time I spoke with [redacted] at Finesse, he indicated that they were working with an insurance company to get this repaired. As of today we are unable to get any response to emails or call backs from them,Desired Settlement: We have asked Finesse to refund us the cost of the AC unit and the fan unit in the amount of $3,900.00. In addition we expect them to repair the roof to ensure that it is not leaking at all.

Issues per complaint:1) Roof leak in one of the units- Finesse response: we have apologized multiple times to the Owner in regards to not responding to his emails. unfortunately his emails were all falling in my junk mail and I was not able to see anything coming in. I never got a phone call from the Owner either in regards to the issue.

Review: this is the most horrible job I have ever seen. I worked with contractors in the past but never been taken advantage like this. When I hired Finesses Construction I thought I hired a professional contractors who know what they doing and have pride of what they do. I was wrong. The work they did is beyond belief. The worse job ever. they put used cabinets and charged as brand new. used the cheapest blinds possible cost no more than $10 a piece and the cheapest ceiling fan, cost no more that $45 a piece but charged me outrages amount $860. the interior paint looked like someone practicing how to paint. It does not look like professionally done. paint running from the ceiling and the walls. walls has different textures. drywalls not repaired but painted over. bathrooms orange grout. uneven tile floors. broken tiles on the floor. Carpets, you feel the floor when you walk on them. Exterior, they painted over damaged siding. Backsplash, they used Vinyl peel and stick. The cost of this project is $28,000 and they are saying they are not making money. They were trying to rob me blindly. BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU HIRE FINESSE CONSTRUCTION. Double check all your figures. they have hidden cost and pay attention to the invoice charges and the quality of material they use.Desired Settlement: everything has to be redone with quality work.

In our response to customer complaint ([redacted]):NOTE: all items we have been contracted to do (per our scope agreement) have been taken care of and been completed to satisfaction.WE were first brought on to this project by the owners realtor, when we perfo**ed a walk-thru the realtor started with the info**ation that theowner only had 20k to upgrade the house and that we needed to spread it out as much as possible. Drywall has different textures/ not repaired- this is an older home and there are some inconsistencies with the texture. Before we started, weasked the realtor if we could re texture the entire home and she said that would not fit in the budget. We only charged the owner for one drywall repairby the laundry door and that was completed with texture to match that particular wall. She was not charged to retexture the walls or for multipledrywall repairs. PS: note that the house had multiple colors throughout and lots of grafity which required 2 coats of primer and 2 top coats of paint in order to get rid of it. That was explained and understood prior commencement of work and signing of agreement of scope.Bathroom grout is orange- it is not orange. I believe the color is butter cream. we had to replace a cracked tile and they grouted a little too soon and the reaction with thinset made color change. This has been taken care of as well.Uneven floors and broken tiles- she has pointed out one chipped tile. This may have been from the cleaners but wither way it has been replacedsince then. (TAKEN CARE OF).Carpets- the carpet is new and the pad is new. This is not top dollar carpet or pad. She was not charged for anything but basic. Painted over bad siding- there are some areas of siding that are beginning to age at the very bottom next to the ground but to replace thatwould have added another $2000 to the original budget and again the realtor said not to do anything to the exterior except paint. The owner signed thecontract knowing we were not doing anything besides exterior paint and she was only charged for exterior paint, AS AGREED UPON CONTRACT.Bad backsplash- this item was added at the end of the project and the owner picked out the product from Home Depot. We have documentation toprove this. We simply went off her orders and purchased and installed the product. If she wanted specifically glass she should have stated that. We havesince replaced the backsplash with another one of her choices and OWNER was happy. (TAKEN CARE OF)The cost of the project was 28,000. This includes a complete interior demo, new kitchen with granite and stainless steel appliances, 2 newbathrooms, new flooring (over 900 sq ft of tile), all new light fixtures, fans etc. this is not out of line. We have tried multiple times to make this customer happy and we encouraged her to meet with us in person at the end of the job to do a walkthru but she has not left CA. She is only getting her info from the listing agent. We have explained that she was only charged for items that wecompleted and that if she wants other items done that were not in the scope to let us know ie.. re-texture, wood siding replacement etc. We are a very reputable company and have been remodeling homes in the valley for over 10 years and plan on doing this for another 20. We have always stood behind our services PROUDLY and have always provided warranty services promptly. We have no intention of trying to mislead anyone. Our prices are very fair and we do not have any hidden costs! We plan to always provide the best customer service and follow through to make sure our customers are happy and satisfied with the services we provide. If there is anything else I can help you with please feel free to contact me directly.Best regards,[redacted]

Response:

THERE ARE MORE . THEY HAVE ALL OF THEM. ALL THE PICTURES THEY HAVE AND THE ONES BELOW IS WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THECONTRACT. WHEN YOU DO DRYWALL REPAIRS YOU HAVE TO TEXTURE, PRIME AND PAINT. NO EXCEPTION. Please advise if you need anything further.Thank you much,[redacted]Finesse Construction LLCFinesse Property Services LLCRRO- Registered Roof Observer- Reg# [redacted]AZ LIC#: roc#[redacted], roc#[redacted]CA LIC# [redacted] / CO LIC# [redacted]UT LIC# [redacted] / TX LIC# [redacted]OK LIC# [redacted] | [redacted]Scottsdale, AZ 85260 | Allen, TX 75013P:###-###-#### | ###-###-####C:###-###-#### | ###-###-####F:###-###-#### | ###-###-####**@finesseconstruction.comwww.FinessePropertyServices.com
