Finkel and Son Construction

During the latter part of June 2020 I observed a contractor laying cement in the rear of a neighbor's home. I spoke to them about enlarging my patio and agreed to have them do the job on my patio at ***. They requested 50% down payment so I sent a check for $800.00 to Finkel & Son Construction Co in Wellington, OH on July 2nd. The check was cashed and cleared my bank on July 6th. They stated they would start the job immediately, then later said they would start on July 21st. When they did not show on the 21st I waited a couple of days and then asked again when they would start on the job. I received an email that their equipment had broken down and they were waiting for a new engine. A few more days passed and I sent an email(telephones don't seem to work)stating that since they could not do the job I would look for another contractor and requested my $800.00 back. This was in early August and I still have not heard a word from them despite several e-mails and attempts on the telephone requesting the return of my $800.00 deposit.
