On June 30, 2017 at 6:55 PM we got a call from St. Clare Hospital to come and pick up [redacted]. She was picked up from the hospital at 8:30 PM and brought into our care. Once she was inour care Mrs. [redacted] was placed into refrigeration. On Saturday July 1, our funeral director met withMr....

[redacted] to arrange for his wife's cremation. He was given our GPL (General Price List) andcharges were explained. At the end of the arrangement he was given a contract, not a bill, which heaccepted and signed willingly. He did mention to our funeral director that he did not have the moneyright then and he was going to home and arrange for payment. When a family decides that they don'twant to stay with us, all we ask is that they pay the removal and refrigeration fee which at that point arethe only charges that the family has acquired. Families have the right to choose where they want to dobusiness and we do not trick people into doing business with us. We are well aware that there arestorefront cremation places that cremate for less than we do, but every business is different withdifferent overhead cost. Enclosed is a copy of the contract signed by Mr. [redacted] as well as a copy ofour charges (removal and refrigeration charges are included in our direct cremation charge) Paymentarrangements were made, where Fir Lane received a check for $985.00 and another post dated checkfor the remaining $985.00 to be cashed until October 2017. Mrs. [redacted] was cremated, the deathcertificate ordered and both returned to Mr. [redacted] on July 11, 2017.At no time was [redacted] part of the funeral arrangements, so I don't know where he iscoming up with such allegations that the we were charging $1,000.00 for a death certificate and$2,900.00 charges. We always try to help people, in this case we included the cremation tray and thecremation urn as well as allowing Mr. [redacted] to give us a post dated check.Sincerely,Oscar V[redacted]Office Manager
