I have research the claim that has been made. The Town of Richlands does not overcharge our customers. We hire professionals that provide the town with a Cost of Service Study that looks at all cost associated with our electric service and try to provide the lowest
rates in order to maintain our electric service. The utility bills were higher this month due to the cold weather conditions and some utility billing had 4-more reading days due to the holidays. We do offer a budget billing that starts in July to help residents have levelized billing over a month period, which greatly helps in colder months. Each resident receives a utility bill that breaks down the usage by service, approximately the first of each month. The only time we cannot provide this information is when the reading have been obtained but the bill has not been calculated and reflected on the resident’s account. I hope this clarifies the complaint. No one in this office would be so insensitive to our resident’s concerns because most of our office personnel lives in our town and pays the same rate as our customers
