This account was charged off at the end of September, 2014 and was referred to a collection agency.
We began receiving payments from [redacted] in January, 2016. We were made aware that [redacted] had received final payment in September 2016. However, it is their policy to hold payments for 30...
days before forwarding them to the creditor to be sure the funds have cleared. They would not make a special exception in this case. We are expecting payment by the middle of October.
Although we can’t close an account until payment is actually received, we sent a fax to the mortgage lender stating the following:
“The account under the name [redacted] will be PAID IN FULL, to the satisfaction of First Credit Corporation upon receipt of funds from [redacted]. [redacted] has informed First Credit Corporation that the customer did submit the final payment in September of 2016. Payment is expected in our office in the next billing cycle and should be received by mid- October, 2016. At that time First Credit will formally change the record for this account to PAID CHARGE-OFF”
The customer also received a letter from the collection agency that they had received payment in full.
Again, the credit bureaus will be updated upon receipt of the final payment.
First Credit was given this telephone number by a customer on their credit application as their home phone. We verified information with the customer at this number on October 22, 2014. An attempt to contact the customer was made on 2/9/16, and a voicemail was left at that time. ...
Another attempt was made on 2/15/16 and we were told by Ms. [redacted] that our customer did not live at this number. Our representative tried to inquire about the number that was dialed and how long Ms. [redacted] has had this number, but the call was disconnected. We made a final attempt that evening. We were told again by Ms. [redacted] this was a wrong number. At that time, we removed the number from our database and no further contact will be attempted at this telephone number.
