I have received the above reference complaint. The amount of $308.72 owed by Mr. [redacted] to First Merchants Bank was refunded and recorded as recovered in full. The refund was...

processed a courtesy fee refund to the client. In general, when a deposit account is closed with a balance owed of principal and or fees, the account is reported to Chexsystems as a closed account. It is standard practice to close a deposit account if the balance is negative for 45 consecutive days. During the period of negative balance notices are mailed to the client to address of record. If funds are owed to the bank a collection agency would make attempts to collect the funds owed to the bank from the account charged off. When a recovery is made the Chexsystems record is updated to reflect the recovery however the record is not removed from their records. In the event of a bank error a Chexsystems record would be removed with a formal request from the bank. Correspondence was mailed to Mr. [redacted] on November 3, 2014 to respond to his inquiry and provide information regarding the recovery of the account. This correspondence was mailed to Mr. [redacted] address on record. Upon receiving Mr. [redacted] inquiry about the closed account, I inquired with the bank employee that handles the reporting of charged off account to Chexsystems as to what options I had to assist with the reporting of Mr. [redacted]. I was provided information that the bank would not ask for a removal of a Chexsystems reporting unless it was a bank error. In this situation, an error was not made on the account by the bank, Fee reversals were made as a goodwill courtesy. Upon receipt of the formal complaint from the Revdex.com on November 26, 2014, I again contacted the employee responsible for Chexsystems reporting to inform her of Mr. [redacted] complaint and resolution requested. On Friday, November 28, 2014 First Merchants Bank contacted Chexsystems and requested the Mr. [redacted] recorded to be cleared. Chexsystems does not provide confirmation when the removal is made, however a general time frame of a few business days for processing before the record is clear.
The information above has been communicated to Mr. [redacted] in the form of written communication. I would be able to provide more specific information upon receipt of written authorization from Mr. [redacted] to provide confidential information as part of the response.
To summarize the response, Mr. [redacted] does not owe $307.82 to First Merchants Bank as the amount owed as a result of the account charge off. This amount was refunded as a courtesy on August 21, 2014. First Merchants Bank has made the formal request to Chexsystems on November 28, 2014 to clear Mr. [redacted] record.
