Initial Business Response /* (1000, 9, 2016/06/10) */
To Whom It May Concern,
***
This is in response to the letter/ complaint you received from ***
The issue with the 4Xpiece of plywood is standard in all houses due to the size of the panel
What usually takes place is the trim guys usually build a decorative box around itDue to the location of the junction box in the ceiling it was explained to her at the start that we would use a decorative 4" cover to put over it and she agreed to thatThe reason we offered this solution is because we are not allowed to bury the junction box by codeThe other box in the ceiling is not a junction box, it is a smoke detectorWe tried to explain to her that the 4Xpiece of plywood was standard in construction; however she got upset and became extremely difficult and would not listen to the explanation being given for the 4Xpiece of plywoodThe conversation proceeded and them she started to yell and threaten my company with calling the Revdex.com (Revdex.com)After that I told her she would be better off to find another electrician to complete the job
I received $*** from her for this job and there is still an amount owing of $*** to meDue to the circumstances I feel that it is best to cut my losses and leave this job and lose the remaining funds due and let her have someone else complete the job
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 11, 2016/06/10) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

1) We had an agreed price of $*** cash which included labor, permits & all materials...new electrical panel, rewiring on levels including replacing any damaged wires on second levelall new baseboard heaters, smoke detectors, switches, plugs, GFI plugs, door chime, bath fan ...etc
After the rough in inspection, I paid him $*** cash & have a receipt showing a balance due of $*** upon completion
For that $*** all I got was a partial rewire, a new electric panel, small temporary heaters, plus a couple of working outlets
I was left with only $*** to repair what they ruined, finish this job & buy materials
Since Mr Mackay did not supply $*** worth of labor or materials, he made his profit upfront, so it was not worth coming back to correct this bad install or finish this contract for a mere $***My only regret is I paid him 75% of this contract after the rough in inspectionwith so much still left to do
2) I was NOT told nor would I EVER agree to any junction boxes or smoke detectors in my living room ceilingBoth of which were eyesores located next to my picture window & neither of which were necessary
The walls were off down to the studs, so wires could have been easily run upstairs eliminating the need for any junction boxes
The smoke detector wire could have been run across the open ceiling in the basement up to a more suitable location in the ceiling of the main level landing

I tried to explain the problem & tried to get Mackay electric in there to correct this (an easy fix) before the walls went up & were taped, but every time I called *** he just rudely hung up on me
I have had to hire another electrician to correct this eyesoreAlso any drywall repairs due to these unnecessary holes & junction boxes will be charged back to MacKay Electric along with the cost of labor, materials, electric components, baseboard heatersetc related to this contract
As for the 4xboard they mounted the panel on, it was not only a huge eyesore on the family room wall, but was totally unworkable, unless cut down
If left as it was, we would have had either one massive foot door or two huge foot doors on itIf we only framed the electric panel & then tried to butt the drywall up to the rest of the exposed board, we would have had different adjacent surfaces a smooth dry wall surface & a rough wood surface.***
I asked MacKay Electric to cut down this board, but they would not correct it, so I had to get my worker to do it for which I think we should be compensated
This delayed rewire has slowed down the rest of the renovation & made it difficult because with no lights we can not work evenings, with little to no heat the taping took much longer to dry, &, because of the pending additional drywall repairs, due to mess left by MacKay Electric,it has also delayed painting
With labor & materials, we have already gone past the $*** left to correct the problems created by MacKay Electric & complete the work described on this contract
Therefore I will be taking legal action, seeking financial compensation & damages for the issues we were left with when MacKay Electric walked away from this contract
