First National Pawn Reviews (3)

After submitting a review on Google about my experience I entered the business today I am a 45-year-old terminally ill male who buys and sell things on the side to keep me busy instead of in bed being sick I was told due to the fact that I wrote a review and give them a low rating I am now permanently 86 from all their stores I spend two to $3000 a month in the stores the stores don't deserve anybody's business they rip everybody off and people should know that they could look up their items yourself on eBay and Amazon and keep their money for their household when you're desperate because the pawnshops only give you a 1/4 to 1/3 of the value and then they make all the money themselves they rip you off when you put your items in a rip you off when you buy items from them that's what makes them happy

Review: I bought a couple of used items (Pull saw, two child life jackets), the price marked on the pull saw was $30.00, life jackets were not marked. We agreed on $30.00 total for all items. When I get home I realize they charged me $40.00. I called and explained the situation. I get "there must be a mis-communication" "What would you like me to do?" they asked, I asked if they would credit me the $10.00. They said "no". They offered for me to return the items. I live 80 miles out of town, it could be 3-4 weeks before I'm back in Billings. I can buy this saw on E-bay free shipping for $34.00 brand new. Double check all purchases, The customer service is very poor.Desired Settlement: Whats most unsettling is the fact that they would not refund the over charge. $10.00 isn't the big issues, it's quality of customer service, desire to keep a customer, but whats one customer to a large company? I guess not much, when the bottom dollar is all that matters. I am very disappointed. At this point refunding the $10.00, or taking the items back won't resolve the frustration. A simple apology would go a long way.

Response:

First of all, the customer was NOT overcharged...both the sales receipt & the visa receipt that he either signed or put in his pin number would have had the CORRECT amount listed! We will gladly let the customer return the items if he doesn't think he was treated fairly...the fact of the matter is we can definitely get more than $5 each for the life jackets that were purchased on the sale. The limb saw was priced at $40...NOT $30...so $40 for both the limb saw & 2 life jackets sounds like a pretty good deal one would think...

The mis-communication that would have happened between the employee & the customer should have been stopped at the point when the customer looked at what his card was being charged when he EITHER signed it OR put in his pin with the dollar amount being displayed where he actually typed his pin number!!! That being said...We would gladly take the items back if he wanted to return them...we were not willing to sell the items for that cheap yesterday, & we are still not willing to sell them that cheap today. I do believe that the customer got a fair deal & the quality of customer service is not an issue at First National Pawn...what other pawnshop would offer to let a customer return used merchandise???

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 9507838, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

It's easy to see that First National Pawn finds no fault in their "handling" of this situation, either way I fully accept responsibility of my mis-understanding and mis-communication. They are 100% correct, I did sign the receipt (I never entered a pin #) and it's my fault for not catching this at the store. I'm sorry.

Regards,

Review: The branch of First National [redacted] has knowingly sold stolen property of mine. My very unique and identifiable bicycle was stolen from home in Alameda, California on July 17th 2014. I Made a police report. It recently surfaced for salw online by First National [redacted] in Montana. I was in immediate contact with the shop, the local police, and the Alameda police. I told several employees of FNP the nature of the stolen property (valued at about $3500 new at retail) and over the course of several days sent a dozen photos, the police report, and a bunch of emails detailing my identity and my ownership of the stolen property they were listing for sale. Intitally it seemed they were cooperative, but soon they used colorful language and abusive service tactics to dissuade me from pursuing the prompt return of my beloved bike. They are currently shipping it to a buyer whose identity I do not know. They have been contacted by a lawyer and several other individuals that are invloved in the effort to recover this machine. First National [redacted] has knowingly lied to me and knowingly sold stolen property that is of great monetary and sentimental value to me. I find this to be a serious crime and if they engage in this behavior a serious setback to the communityDesired Settlement: They need to return my stolen property to me immediately
