First Neighborhood Bank received complaint [redacted] *n 8/22/The customer states: "Hello, I had written two checks back in June which I have completely paid for already, but this bank is allowing [redacted] communications to try and charge me two additional fees totaling $I have already paid everything, and I would like the fees to be deducted off my checking account." The customer does not state which specific checks she is complaining aboutI do see two checks that were presented and returned twice for insufficient funds in the month of JuneWe do not see where these checks have ever cleared her accountHowever, when the customer did business with the person she wrote the checks to she would have been authorizing them to collect through their processor which in this instance appears to be [redacted] Her complaint is directed at the wrong party, she needs to contact the payee of the check and/or [redacted] about her complaintWe have no control over a third-party collecting a fee on her account

First Neighborhood Bank received the two checks in question on 1/5/2016. Prior to any transactions posting the account had a balance of $[redacted]. Check [redacted] posted to the customer’s account bringing the balance to [redacted] The second check, [redacted] also posted bringing the balance to [redacted]. The account...

in question was opened 10/1/2015. Due to the newness of the account it is the bank’s procedure to return items since we are unable to establish the account patterns of the customer. Both checks were returned which brought the account balance back to [redacted]he return check fee we assess all customers of $30 per item ($60 total) was assessed bringing the customer’s balance to [redacted] A deposit was made into the account on 1/7/2016 [redacted] this made the balance in the account [redacted]. Other checks and deposits were made 1/7/2016-1/11/2016. When checks [redacted] were represented on 1/11/2016 and 1/12/2016 respectively, there was [redacted] in the account. The posting of these two checks caused the account to once again become overdraft in the amount of [redacted]. It is the bank’s procedure toNOT CHARGEan overdraft fee if the amount of the overdraft is less than [redacted] so no fee was assessed for paying these checks.On 1/21/2016 [redacted] issued an ACH debit for a check return fee in the amount of [redacted], this would have overdrawn the customer’s account [redacted], so the ACH debit was returned and our procedural [redacted] returned item fee was assessed bringing the account balance to [redacted]. On 1/22/2016 [redacted] issued an ACH debit for a check return fee in the amount of [redacted] this would have overdrawn the customer’s account [redacted] the ACH debit was returned but the procedura[redacted] returned item fee wasWAIVEDas a courtesy to the customer. This still left the account with a balance of [redacted]The bank will refund one $30 fee associated with the returned item fee assessed on 1/22/2016 as a courtesy to the customer.We have been unable to find any employee who recalls speaking to the customer’s spouse about this issue.Sincerely, [redacted]Senior Vice PresidentOperations & BSA OfficerFirst Neighborhood Bank

I do see two checks that were presented and returned twice for insufficient funds in the month of June. We do not see where these checks have ever cleared her account. However, when the customer did business with the person she wrote the checks to she would have been authorizing them to collect through their processor which in this instance appears to be [redacted] Her complaint is directed at the wrong party, she needs to contact the payee of the check and/or [redacted] about her complaint.
