I find the credit union is more about making money, then they care about taking care of their customer.

Tried to join Friday September 07 2018. Walked in to Centre Mall branch and waited in line only to be told tellers don't open new accounts. After speaking with a manager I learned the earliest opportunity to join and open new accounts was Monday September 10TH.

Today is Saturday September 8th I have been calling for 15 minutes to the only phone number available to the three Hamilton First Ontario branches hoping for an opportunity to open 3 new accounts and transfer my RSP.

When finally my call is answered. I learn no accounts can be opened on a walk in basis. Only by appointment. So the cheques I have, from 3 accounts closed Friday at *** will remain in my possession until I can find a credit union looking to grow their business.

Obviously I have learned via this experience it will not be First Ontario Credit Union..

I recently opened an account with First Ontario, when I described to the lady opening my account that I usually use my savings account for my purchases and only my chequing for bill payments throughout the month. The end of May, I was charged almost 140 dollars for service fees, I was extremely disappointing. Contacting the location I opened my account at (Upper Sherman in Hamilton) they refunded me half of my service fees, I'm not okay with this "solution" I switched banks to have no service fees and the hassle alone switching all my payments as already left a sour taste in my mouth! I was advised differently, or the lady wasn't clear on what type of account I was looking at, yet I'm being penalized for the lack of communication from the bank's side. I'm a student, living on my own the difference between $75 dollars may not seem like a lot, but to me it is and I want the full amount refunded ASAP.

Desired Outcome

I would like my full refund of the service charges.

FOCU was given a letter in july 2016 by a *** stating I was going to be my dads next of kin and estate trustee. FOCU concurs they received this on Sept 9 2016 I sent them the judges final order signed discharging *** and naming me. FOCU did so willfully refuse to give me my dads estate account, or access to it . in fact they let the discharged *** illegally close the account 46 days after he was discharged blocking my every attempt to gain access of the account history, and forged checks he wrote on my account. they refuse to give me the contract my dads used to open the account or the history to show how *** took funds illegally and illegally closing the account when they knew and received a judges final order. my dad is *** who resided at *** . a *** at FOCU illegally allowed the account to be closed and they refuse to give me the checks written on the account after Sept 9 2016 as they are proof of fraud over 5,000 yet they are covering up their illegal behavior and refusing to give me full access even though they admit they got the Judges court order on Sept 9 2016.

Desired Outcome

I want full access to the history of my dads business-account and savings account. the contract in full listing interest and policy and proceddures and all checks written on the accounts and activity.

We are well aware of this complaint, and have been endeavoring to resolve it for some time with the assistance of our legal counsel. We have provided the complainant with all of the information we have regarding the estate account and all supporting documentation regarding all transactions on that account (in some cases paper copies only, because electronic access is not possible due to a system conversion), on more than one occasion. We quite literally have no further information we can provide her. We strongly deny any allegations of improper handling of this estate account.

the company continues to speak this lie that I have all the paperwork yet, they still have not provided me with the complete History of the two accounts. One business-savings and the other savings plus they skip pages of the history. I even went to another branch who could not retrieve this info in fact it was arranged with a meeting with council to set up online so we could track the history, that same day we were blocked from this access and then further delays were stated they changed their company programme so I would not be able to get the info I was requesting. when in the meeting the website for on line banking was set up and I was able to see the history went back to Oct when I am told my dads account was opened on Dec 1 2015. when inquired why the previous months would appear I was told because the account was opened in the last quarter. after arriving home and logging on to the online account just moments from being booted off and locked out I was able to see the account went as far back as June so this was a lie. they to date have not given me a full copy of the accounts opened listing both the business-savings and the savings account that outlined the accounts contract listing interest etc they did give me a one page piece of paper to try and say this was the contract and even at the meeting it was resolved they would get this for me but to date have never done so. they aledge the account was opened up on the 1st of Dec 2015 yet their statements begin on the 2nd of Dec 2015 carrying over a balance of zero. NO bank institution s going to let anyone open an account and have nothing to put in it. plus the history that commences on the 2nd of Dec 2014 states balance forwarded showing that on the 1st of Dec there was money in that account but it was withdrawn so the 2nd carries over the balance of zero. lastly the account was illegally closed on Oct 14 2016 by a discharged estate trustee by a judge that august prior. FOCU agrees they received a letter in July 2016 by the discharged estate trustee *** as well receiving the judges final order by my lawyer on Sept 9 2016 giving me full access to this account and it became legally mine. however from Sept 9 2016 to Oct 14 2016 FOCU blocked my every attempt to access the account defying the judges order and then let a discharged *** who now had no legal authority to do so. I want the paperwork that allowed them to illegally defy a judge and have the account closed. since that date until a few months ago I have tried to gain full access to the entire accounts and their history including the checks written on the account after Sept 9 2016 and to date they refuse to fully comply. they just keep saying I have it to avoid the issue when I don't. if I had the info I would not be asking for it.thus, any check written on the account after Sept 9 2016 other by me is fraud and closing the account is also theft as it was my account given to me by a judges final order. there fore please on my behalf request the info I am seeking and you will see first had they will not and will say I have it. no bank would put up such fuss for a client to get full disclosure of their history unless they were hiding something. thus I need full history including the so called day the account was opened as they skip this day, during the month from Dec 2015 when the account was opened to Sept 9 2016 when FOCU received the court order by me, there is a lot of history in between missing. I am therefore requesting the full contract any one gets when they open an account. the amount of monies that were I the account the day it was opened and a complete history of all activity incl paperwork as proof some other judge let *** illegally close this account or he needs to be arrested and also charged for writing checks on the Estate account after he was discharged the people at this branch are covering ***s illegal behavior and this is why they are not being completely forthcoming. I have even offered to pay for the full request only to be told I have everything I need. if that is the case I would not be still asking and further more they would just print everything off in starting the day it was opened showing the day it was opened Dec 1 2015 as a balance of zero to be forwarded as zero to the 2nd of Dec 2015. they refuse to give me opening days history as they know this account was not opened by *** but in fact belonged to my Dad as it was his business-savings and savings account. and this is why they refuse to give me full access to the account whether on lie or if I request this in hard copy. I want Revdex.com to request on my behalf the full contract that lists both account numbers. They had originally told me it was just one account but going through my dads paperwork for the Estate I found another savings account attached to and then they make up a lie that the account only had a zero history an Estate Trustee who was ordered by a judge to open an estate account is not going to open a business-savings and a savings account. and put nothing I it the day it was opened. I need the contract that shows both accounts being opened and a history for both starting Dec 1 2015 NOT Dec 2 2015 showing a balance forward of zero. if this was the case Dec 1 2015 would start off as zero for both accounts and I doubt any financial institution is going to let someone open an account not one but two in this case and have not even a penny to deposit on the day it was open. most banks request eve $10.00 . thus I do not by their endless deceit and refusal to give me the info I request. I will give the $50.00 to print it all off and give it to me again if they think I have it. as well they must show legal paperwork that someone other the myself had the legal right to close the account on Oct 14 2016 or be held liable for the monies I believe were I the account given to me in the court order by Judge *** of $25,000 plus the $10,000 *** took form one of my others assets and deposited it in the Estate account that now legally belonged to me also the checks written on the estate account were *** as they were written after Sept 9 2016 when FOCU was given the Judges Order that the account now legally belonged to me. they have been very defiant and unaccommodating given I'm the account holder. thus I want the requests made to be given to Revdex.com so you can see for yourself first hand they are not being forth coming and only giving me tid bits here and there and nothing is lining up. thus, I need the contract in full for both accounts. the opening days statements even if its zero but I doubt it was I believe my dad had over 300,00. k in that business account as well more in the savings as well I know my dad had two safety deposit boxes at FOCU that they refuse to admit. thus FOCU needs to provided the full history up to and including the day the account was illegally closed and either show the paperwork that authorized anyone other then me to close the account or be held liable to pay the monies I believe were in the account. thus, please request from them the info as you'll see they will fight it and refuse and lie saying I have this info when I don't. even if they really believed I did have the info, (which I 100% don't) then make a full duplicate copy and charge me the $50.00 that most banks would give the history checks etc for free. I am offering to pay and they still refuse. thus, Id take it to corporate as I know they would have full access to the entire history that *** from the branch region refuses to release to me. youll see they will not comply but profusely say I have the info. if I had it I would have *** in jail for *** as I would have the checks he wrote on my account after he was discharged over $5,000. Thei council *** I don't believe works for FOCU but was hired separately by *** the branchs director to stall and cover and hide as if he was a decent banker he would be giving me the info I am requesting and he refuses to do so. I have asked for a copy of the paperwork that allowed anyone other then me to close the account on Oct 14 2016 and they refuse to submit this too. yet confirmed *** closed the account on Oct 14 2016 and this was after *** was discharged and both FOCU and *** knew this was forthcoming since July 2016 and became effective Aug 29 2016 but for argument sake I still submitted the judges order to both on Sept 9 2016. therefor any activity after the 9 of sept 2016 is *** . please do not listen to their double talk and efforts to not be forthcoming. They have a shady hand in this illegal activity and are victimizing me and in contempt of a court order. if they refuse to give Revdex.com this info then you can write them up as a terrible company to do business with as they will cover up illegal activity even once they are given a court order and victimize account holders by allowing illegal activity.
