We are happy to assist the customer and ensure her service is cancelled with First Point Power. Our records indicate the customer first contacted First Point Power, via phone, on 6/21/2019. At this time, the customer requested her service be cancelled with First Point Power. Per the customer's request, First Point Power submitted the cancellation request immediately to *** the same day. *** only effectuates such changes on the meter read dates of customers, and not in the middle of billing cycles. As such, *** confirmed that the effective cancellation date was 7/18/2019. The customer resides in the Town of ***. The Town created a municipal aggregation program for electricity supply for its residences and businesses, a program approved by the state *** (see details at ***). First Point Power was selected by the Town to serve the program after submitting the lowest price offer in a competitive solicitation. Customers who were taking electric supply service from *** at the time were eligible to participate. As required by the Town, the customer and all other eligible customers received mailings using the Town’s seal, which included program details and also provided multiple ways customers could elect to opt-out of the Town’s program. After allowing sufficient time for response, the program launched in February 2019.Prior to the customer switching to First Point Power, the customer was a *** Basic Service customer. This means *** was the customer’s electricity supplier (they buy electricity for the customer). However, under the *** program, *** continues delivering the customer’s electricity, but First Point Power is the electricity supplier, as selected by the Town. Under the program, *** continues to deliver the electricity, fix power outages, and bill the customer, but First Point Power is the electricity supplier. Customers see First Point Power and the program price on the supply portion of their *** electric bill instead of ***'s Basic Service rate. ***’s delivery charges are unaffected. If customers do not wish to participate, *** continues to be the customer’s electricity supplier, and the supply portion of the electric bill shows ***'s Basic Service rate. At the start of the program, the *** Basic Service rate was 13.718 cents per kilowatt-hour, while the *** program rate was 10.928 cents per kilowatt-hour (a 20% savings to the customer). Further, the Town program rate is fixed for 21 months, while ***’s rate changes twice per year.Customers are not obligated to participate in the Town program and can opt-out at any time. As mentioned above, the customer opt-ed out of the program via phone on 6/21/2019, and the cancellation of service was effectuated on the immediate next available meter read date, in accordance with ***'s meter read schedule.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ***. Please add your rejection comments below.
[If you are rejecting the business's response please enter your rejection comments here. If you do not enter a reason for your rejection, your complaint will be closed as Answered.] The reply to my complaint ..is typical of the current manipulation of the elderly going on currently in this day and age ..The very minor point not to mention I was in critical care at the time of the disguised flyer that arrived at my home as junk mail ...the finalized rate of the electricity provider is not as shown in there reply the fact the unit price will go to any price as it had been increased at the time of my cancellation ..beyond there declared standard rate ...and above the *** ...we are now aware as elderly of the first 12 months at x% and there after in small print ..the sky is the limit ..I notice I am not the only complaint nor will I be the last to YOUR excellent web page however it is obvious the slap on the wrist is not anything they should be concerned about ,,,what can us elderly do to keep up with the country wide fleecing of the elderly ..this case being a prime example
Regards

Ms. was a customer of First Point Power, LLC from 2/13/2019 to 7/16/2019 through the Town of *** municipal aggregation program. If Ms. opt-ed out of the Town program, she would have been charged *** delivery rates, plus ***’s Default Service rate for electric supply. Under the Town program, Ms. paid *** delivery rates, plus First Point Power’s rate for electric supply, instead of ***’s Basic Service rate (not in addition to it). While on our service, our fixed supply rate of 10.928 cents/kWh was materially below ***’s Basic Service rate and Ms. saved $43.37 being on our service. The rate was never increased. Fluctuations in monthly costs are attributable to changes in the customer's electricity usage. We have provided the billing comparison in this reply and would be happy to discuss in more detail. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

I received my Dec bill and found a Transmission Adjustment charge on my bill for an additional $225.73. I was told it was a regulatory charge. The funny thing is I get 5 power bills and none of the other companies had that charge. So watch your great rate with them. They are the highest price by far with this charge. I will never do business with this company again.
