Initial Business Response /* (1000, 10, 2015/12/16) */
First School of the Desert attempted to respond to this complaint online however the site would not allow for it. In regards to this case, the charges are false. Statements of account balances and charges are readily available. The facility is...

more than happy to provide all statements at any giving moment. Mr. [redacted] was provided a financial agreement packet before his child began with the center. In this enrollment packet all charges, billing policies and late fees are clearly stated. Further, the facility consistently posts notices, poster, etc. The phone conversations between First School and Mr. [redacted] were a courtesy. First School does its best to avoid any interruption of services. Therefore, the office managers do call clients to help them avoid late fees and termination of the program. First School's fees are reoccurring, there is no monthly statements printed. The fees are consistent unless there is a change of schedule. In Mr. [redacted]'s account he was charged for the annual registration $225.00 and for Tuition $325.00. Upon enrollment every client is given the opportunity to specify if they will be paying the tuition entirely upfront by the 5th of the month or if they are choosing to break up the payments, half due by the 5th of the month and the remaining balance due on the 15th. Mr. [redacted] choose to pay all of the registration, $225.00, and half of the tuition for the month of September, $152.50, in total $387.50. The remaining balance of $162.50 was due on the 15th of September. Mr. [redacted] never made his second half of tuition payment. A late fee was charged to the account. Service was not interrupted as Mr. [redacted] made a payment of $325,00 on 9/28/15. This payment was credited towards the late fee assessed on 9/16, $25.00, and the second half of the September's tuition, $162.50. A credit was carried over in the amount of $137,50. On October 1st the account was charged tuition, $325.00 leaving a balance due of $187.50, a $25.00 late fee and $162.50 for tuition. Mr. [redacted] again did not make a payment until October 26'h therefore, two more late fees were charged to his account. Miss [redacted] is correct in stating that a late fee would be removed if complete payment was received before the 2011 of October. Mr. [redacted] paid a check of $487.50. He neglected to pay the added late fees. The account was not zeroed out and thus none of late fee were not waived. I am more than happy to remove one late fee, as we give every client the benefit of the doubt, we understand that it is human nature to forget. Mr. [redacted] was not issued a credit for the late fee as he did not comply with paying the entire balance on October 20th. Mr. [redacted] choose to pay what he believed he owed. Miss [redacted] did call Mr. [redacted] on November 20th informing him yet again his account was past due, he still owed the facility $75.00 in late fees. Mr [redacted] is claiming lack of communication from the office. This is simply not true. Miss [redacted] was going over and beyond by calling Mr. [redacted]. The facility does not provide monthly statements, however, if a client wishes to obtain monthly statements the facility is more than happy to provide them, the client just needs to ask. We are a small chain we do not have the funds to create a website to allow the client to look at their account. We are very open with accounting and if there is ever any confusion the managers is more than happy to submit for an account review. The manager's jobs are directly related to accounting. If the accounts are past due it reflects negatively on them. Therefore it is in the best interest of the office mangers to keep an open line of communication with all clients. The managers are not required to put in phone calls to the clients, they do so to help avoid late fees as well as an interruption of service due to lack of payment. I applaud Miss [redacted] for taking the initiative to call Mr. [redacted] to help zero out his account. Attached you will find Mr. [redacted] Is account statement and his financial agreement that dearly states when tuition is due. There is no miscommunication, Mr. [redacted] failed to follow the terms of the agreement and is unhappy about the additional fee incurred. At this time Mr. [redacted] has chosen to dissolve his account. Mr. [redacted]'s daughters last day will be December 31, 2015. If there are any further questions please feel free to call me personally.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 12, 2015/12/26) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
In the copy of the charges it states that no payment was received by the 22nd of October which is a lie. Attached is a copy of the check I made out to the company on October 20th and a signed receipt from their front office with a date of October 20th 2016. The number attached on the receipt should match their records if they keep any. I asked many times to be contacted by a supervisor so that we could review the charges but was always dismissed. Instead It was handed off to another co worker but never contacted by a [redacted] as promised. This was clearly not negligence as It was pointed out several times and their response was "it's very little charge".
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 14, 2015/12/28) */
