Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/02/04) */
the green dropping referred to in the complaint show that the rodenticide was working. Per the Wife when they bought the home it had several areas of black droppings this is why they called for service with First Strike Pest . We did not see any...

blatant entry point at the time because of all the boxes and cluttered conditions in the garage and basement, storage areas. Randy does remember telling the Wife of several exterior siding loosing of possible entry points there and to tell her husband that he should look at those spots. We can't seal any exterior siding points that's why we tell the owners of possible entry's to check. We have been in pest control since 1999 and have never had a complaint. All of our mice bait we put down is in child and animal protective boxes. We are sorry to hear of this complaint, but feel we did our job correctly. We will refund $150.00 as requested upon a invoice showing the other service. The only question we have is how can a person that was not at the appointments can write the complaint?
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 7, 2016/02/09) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
We would like to thank the business for responding to our complaint and will gladly attach a copy of the first inspection, follow-up inspection which showed no further mice activity and proof that we signed up for a year of maintenance with Orkin. In addressing the further points outlined by First Strike they were called into our home within a month of us moving in, thus the storage in the garage and in all honestly the storage unit in the basement was chest level, single layered and with very clear views of the rafters, ect. Aside from that, the entry point was outside the home (not in the garage or basement with "obstructed views") on the opposite side that First Strike placed their bait and informed us of entry under the porch. First Strike also informed us that due to the entry point being under the porch there was nothing that could be done to seal this, which Orkin informed if this was in fact the entry point there would have been options for sealing.
Orkin found the entry point within ten minutes of walking around the outside of our home and sealed it for us. Two Employees from First Strike did not. We did also follow all of First Strike's suggestions and had placed caulking and steel wool around our entire garage none of which were the entry point into the home. We were evening looking into options for sealing off our entire porch and had contacted a company to do so. At no point was there discussion of an entry point around the siding. We would have addressed that immediately, as we did with any other suggestions.
When First Strike came in the only mouse droppings were in the basement storage unit and garage. We had went through the entire home upon finding these and bleached all the floors, checked cabinets, ect. with no evidence of mice activity. And honestly the home was very bare as we again had just moved in. There was no further droppings until they placed their bait stations which lead to green droppings everywhere, including the main level of our home. As a side note Orkin does not use these type of bait stations, thus they catch the mice without leaving the mice to crawl around your home for up to a week [redacted] green everywhere prior to dying on your living room floor.
Our main point has been if this entry point was identified immediately as was our request of First Strike and as it was with Orkin we would have avoided the further infestation of our home. Thus is why we called immediately when we identified a mouse problem in the basement wanting to address it prior to any mice navigating into the rest of our home. Our main concern from the beginning was the entry point of how the mice were coming into the home from our first call. We do not feel First Strike lived up to their end as they basically informed that there was nothing we could do to seal their suspected and incorrect entry point, just sign up for a quarterly visit to lay bait and traps and live with the mice in our home.
We do try to stay with local companies and would have never even contacted a national chain like Orkin if it was not for our desperation to address this issue. Thankfully we have found a company that has sealed the entry point and will continue to come out monthly to assure no new entry points are discovered by the mice. As for First Strike's snide comment our complaint and follow-up were written by both myself and spouse, thus the phrasing "we" in our initial and follow-up compliant. We are sure First Strike has many satisfied customers and is a great local business, we just did not have that experience with them.
Final Consumer Response /* (2000, 21, 2016/05/06) */
The business has followed through with refund of $150.00. Dispute has been resolved and customer has accepted business response.
